I'd like to let you all know that the DCI's murdering of vintage doesn't happen until the 20th, and Travis wants people to know that the restrictions will NOT be in effect at his event.
Second, I'd like to say that the DCI just killed my interest in this format, because I do not wish to play in the stone age. As such, Connecticut will be my last event.

Yeah, it almost seems viable for the community to actually just start ignoring the restricted last now, damnt.

Travis you should change the name of this tournament to The Last Great Vintage Tournament Ever. Or something cool, because a few days later I'm committing ritualistic suicide...

This event is now gonna be HUGE. EVERYONE who can make this, the "last Vintage" event, should do everything in their power to do so.

I was on the fence about attending this but now I'm going to try my hardest.
After the format gets murdered on the 20th, I guess I'll be playing lots more Extended and Standard. Or just quitting entirely.

Well I would like to continue trash talking, but at this point it all seems like it just won't matter. This is the last big event of the golden age of vintage. So i will not lose, after this tournament i will have to test for hours and hours to figure out what to play, but I've got my deck ready for this, and IT is now on even more than it was when people were just talking trash.

Wow, let's break out the cheese to go with all this wine!! My god folks, if restricting 5 BLUE cards gets you to stop playing the format, you have to be a pretty shallow player! Improvise, adapt, overcome. Does playing a new deck scare you? Is building a new deck a pain in your arse? I've been playing R/G beats for over a year now, and guess what, it's fun to play and it's competative. Change does not mean death to a format, only death to those that be flexable enough to change as well. I can't wait to see what new ideas this will spawn and see if games can go further than turn 2!!!!!!

So you've been playing RG beats, and that's why you're not upset the blue cards are gone. Your chance at winning events just became greater than 0. There are some of us who have played blue decks since playing vintage. I have yet to play a deck without brainstorm, because I know what constitutes as being a good deck (they involve islands, and brainstorm. This is why every deck that has won worlds since 2005 has played brainstorm).

I hope that the great vintage raping of 6/20 doesn't detour people from attending this event. It was to be my first trip to the east coast for mtg I was hoping to hang out and meet some of the vintage Greats that I have always read about. I hope attendance for this event is off the charts and everyone who is anyone in Vintage will be there. Ill be the opponent smiling even if I go Ornithopter and have to play EDH all day. See everyone in CT.

You just answered the problem, if EVERY deck that has won the championship runs Brainstorm, this constitutes one of the reasons that the DCI restricts a card, either every deck plays it or plays against it. I play to play, not to win. This is a game after all! And as far as blue cards needed to win, I think the stats at my Blue Bell events, which have some of the best players on the East Coast, show that blue is not needed. Mono Red Workshop has been king recently.

Well that would explain why you and 13nova disagree you're obviously both playing type 1 for different reasons. Personally i've always valued winning before having fun. I'm going to stop playing vintage after the 20th because I feel my energies will be better spent getting better at real formats than relearning the new vintage metagame.

Like the changes or not, this certainly marks a watershed moment for Vintage, and maybe for us as a community. I for one am looking forward to one hell of a going away party for all the blue goodies we'll be losing. Mox Sapphires anyone?

Sounds like a quitters attitude. maybe t2 players should invade the format, they're good at a constantly changing meta. it just seems like a lot of t1 players think this is the end of the format, and it all seems to be based on brainstorm. we all know flash, gush, and scroll deserved the axe or reaxe. i personally hated my blue counter parts constantly digging for an answer at instant speed, and with top they could get 2. guess all the control players are also control freaks and gotta have things go their way or not go at all. i'll hate to see so many of my brethern leave the format, but if you cant change with the world......just ask the dinosaurs!! RIP

Ya I tend to be pretty serious about winning and stuff but, given that this will be the last time I get to play the Vintage I've grown to love so much these last few years, I think this one is gonna be more laidback than usual. I also look forward to getting to meet the New Englanders I have not yet encountered, as this might be the last chance for that for a while. Hell, I might actually wish my opponents 'good luck' at the start of matches and mean it!
This should be one incredible weekend. I can't even trash talk anymore without feeling bad about it.

For all those going to this event, your tournament just got better! Well...maybe =)On Day 2 I will be hosting a Peasant Highlander tournament after round three or so, with FREE entry for a Library of Alexandria. I've been playing this format for the past year at my office, and I figured I'd get more of the Vintage community involved in another casual format that has been incredibly interactive and fun. **Peasant Highlander Rules** 1) Your deck must be 150 cards exactly. 2) You may use no more than 30 uncommons, and the rest are commons. 3) You may have no more than one copy of a card, except basic land. 4) Cards are considered to be their lowest printed rarity (Ex: Loxodon Warhammer is uncommon, not rare) 5) Your deck must be Legacy legal. You can check a card's rarity here: http://ww2.wizards.com/gatherer/index.aspx?term=loxodon%20warhammer&Field_Name=on&Field_Rules=on&Field_Type=on&setfilter=All%20setsThe Legacy B/R list can be found here: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=judge/resources/sfrlegacyIf you are hesitant about giving this format a try, I'd urge you to reconsider. It's incredibly fun, the format is wide open, and you can build an entire deck for less than $30. In fact, this format has even brought several people I know out of magical retirement.

I'm looking forward to the new format alot more than the old one.
This tourney will still be big. People will want a crack at the broken stuff one more time.
