Sorry these took awhile to get posted. The person who faithfully posts our results was not able to play last time, and did not have the decklists. And I've been getting engaged since then! Thanks to all who attended, it was another great event, with a nice turnout. If you were in attendance, please feel free to ad your coments about the event to this thread. Hope everyone had a great holiday and see you soon. Our next event is 4/5/08.

Jason Koresko - Storm Entity
1 Mox Emerald 1 Mox Ruby 1 Lotus Petal 1 Black Lotus 4 Chalice of the Void 4 Mogg Fanatic 4 Kird Ape 4 Storm Entity 4 Tin Street Hooligan 4 Shimian Spirit Guide 2 Elvish Spirit Guide 2 Flamekin Bladewhirl 4 Land Grant 4 Lightning Bolt 3 Root Maze 3 Red Elemental Blast 2 Shrapnal Blast 4 Wasteland 4 Taiga 1 Strip Mine 2 Great Furnace 1 Forest
2 Lava Dart 2 Pyrokinesis 2 Gorilla Shaman 4 Simoon 2 Atifact Mutation 3 Pyroblast Neat! This deck looks like so much fun to play, like Belcher without the Belchers. I wonder, since this is like a combo-aggro deck, why no Wheel of Fortune? Maybe the storm isn't as critical as the title of the deck makes it seem.

As the builder of the deck (although Jason did tweak it a bit in the sideboard based on meta) the deck IS fun to play. It definately is a style of deck I like to play -SIMPLE- Quite frankly, sometimes Magic and all the complex rules confuses old guys like me!! It's actually more aggro/control than combo. It works with a simple idea, get a beater or two down early, lock your friend across the table down for a turn or two, and hope to get them to zero before they combo out or swing with a fatty. WoF is a nice card, but at 3cc it's pretty much too costly for the deck. Everything in the deck costs 1 or 2, and the mana curve is based on that. I think if I had Goyfs he might be a thought. Storm Entity can be a superstar in the deck. He can be really big if you drop a 0cc or two and if you can tempt the other side of the table to use an instant on a decoy spell. I do salute Jason for his Magic skill at piloting the deck, congrats my friend!

See I told you I don't know much about Magic! That's what happens when you don't put a deck name on your list, you leave it up to some dummy like me to pick a name. One of them was listed as Stax, but since it had no Stax I said hmmmmm, must be Staxless Stax. I'm so confused!!!! I thought about calling them mono red, but hey, there's a Tolarian in there that makes blue. Now I'm really confused!!!!

Well to help clarify then, Tolarian DOES give blue, but it's basically a mass mana producer no one cares about the colour. Those decks only play red spells, and this version is called Mono Red Shop Aggro. Staxless stax is 5colors, and is basically 5cStax just without smokestack. It plays cards such as Gorilla Shaman, Sensei's Divining Top, the black tutors, Tinker, Ancestral, etc.

Those staxless stax aren't staxless stax lol. Also, to nitpick, 'goth slaver' is identified by having intuition as an engine card; I'd just go with Slaver, which, incidentally was also coming out in numbers at ELD's Lotus tourney yesterday (Corey Frasier made T8).

The Goth Slaver was so named on the decklist by it's creator, the infamous Dan "Call of the" Herd. Please direct all insults in his hairy direction!!

That combo slaver deck looks really cool- what's the missing 60th card? I'm guessing Mystical Tutor.
EDIT: Actually it would have to be Seat of the Synod/Darksteel Citadel wouldn't it, for the Crucible...

The Combo Slaver list looks very much like some of the Hybrid Slaver/Gifts lists that were running around before Meandeck Gifts became popular.
Also Do you have a metagame breakdown?
Thanks

By "metagame breakdown" can I asume your looking for types on all the deck lists? If so, it's going to be a crapshoot. You saw how well I did with just the T8! But let me see what I can find.

Ok, of the remaining decklists (not in the top 8), nine had a deck type listed (I wasn't going to try to identify ones that didn't) there were:
UG Madness Empty Gifts Tyrant Oath Gush Storm Bridge Over River Styx Bomberman BUG Aggro RG Beats x 2
Guess some players are: a) secretive of their deck types, b) too lazy to name their deck (lol)
Hope this additional info helps and see you all tomorrow!
