Saito was wearing a MTGChicago.com t-shirt at GP:Oakland so hes still going.
I was surprised to see this too, maybe Saito doesn't really know what has gone on. Saito is one of the best in the game and really well liked so he must have been promised a decent chunk for that. FTY Thanks Iron Chef. Hope Saito listens.

Hmm I guess I get to post my Stasch story now. Someone at another MTG community directed me to this thread after I posted my ripoff story there.
Just over a day ago, the first card from the new set, Rise of the Eldrazi, was spoiled as most of you know. I was working a late shift and the lab I was stationed in was empty so I was browsing the web and came across Kozilek and thought, "Wow, the price on Eye of Ugin is a gonna jump like crazy!". Now I'm sure I'm not the only person who had this revelation and I'm sure some people had it way before me, but I immediately went to my favorite card website (store.tcgplayer.com) to see if that jump had occurred yet.
To my joy, I found that it had not, and I ordered 3 (already owning one from a booster) from MTGChicago.com at approx 5 bucks a pop which was the only 3 they had left. I was afraid that they might sell out of those 3 before my order was processed and ready, but those fears were put to rest when I received an email shortly after placing it saying the my order had been received and processed that my cards were ready to be packed and shipped.
More joy, I thought. To my dismay however, I received an email the next day saying that unfortunately they had run out of stock and were refunding my order. I thought, "Well that sucks, but I guess I wasn't quick enough" and on a whim I decided to check the new asking price. Despite the fact that the card was now going for 15 bucks, I noticed that MTGChicago was listed as having 4 copies for sale at 14.99. Odd, they told me they were out of stock.
So in short, I guess this is mostly venting as they said they will refund my purchase (which I have yet to receive), thought I felt it was pretty shitty business practice to go back on a purchase that was already completed simply because they saw an opportunity to make a slightly higher profit. Needless to say, I won't be ordering from them again.

Another log on the fire for this ripper. I also took the bait on his Rise of the Eldrazi pre-order and grabbed 4 Vengevines at $16.00. Shortly after release I had nothing to show for it, but strangely saw some up on the site for $35.00. So I called asking where my cards were and I was told that the ones on the website were up there "by mistake". So essentially what this guy does is fuel his business through a fraudulent claim of inventory. He takes your $100 a few weeks prior and uses it to go run around and buy cards. Then he hopes you get frustrated and cancel your order at which point he may or may not refund you. Leaving you the consumer screwed since you could have pre-ordered from a reputible dealer (SCG or ChannelFireball) who will FILL ORDERS AT A LOSS TO THEMSELVES.

I would suggest filing a complaint with the Illinois Attorney General's Office, in the consumer fraud division. I can't guarantee anything would come of it, but if they get a large number of complaints about the same enterprise, I'd think they'd be more likely to follow through and do something. http://www.illinoisattorneygeneral.gov/consumers/index.html

Actually ChannelFireball has a pretty bad reputation of doing exactly this as well with their pre sales.

Hahaha I live in Chicago and man sucks to be you guys I have never had a problem from stasch in my opinion those of you whom have been ripped off are either incompetent consumers or just lazy bums who refuse to put time and effort into selling your own product therefore you get what you deserve. Personally I have never had an issue with stasch and have even bartered with him to match online prices with competitors and such. Just a little word of advice get out of your house or off the computer and into your local dealer if you are tired of being scammed. Also smart consumer does not pay before recieving product from unmonitored sources.

I apologize for my lack of punctuation. I will keep in mind that in order to be taken seriously I should use proper english. My point is that people are always being taken advantage of, it is part of business. I do sympathize with those of you who have lost considerable amounts of money in business dealings with MTGCHICAGO. However, when striking deals that involve large amounts have you should research and keep records of transactions. To put it simply...yes, too bad for you. As for ethics, they are nothing more than subjectivism.

So you're one of Stasch's Barnicles? See my username.... I don't hide anything. It's pretty clear who I am, yet you're being a coward. Nobody deserves to be screwed by a BUSINESS. While I do Agree with JAK Chicago about 50%, if Stasch is running a Business he falls under laws of the Better Business Beureau and it's 100% his fault that he's Douchebagging all his customers. If this was on MOTL or some other trade site and you got ripped off... Too bad shoulda been more careful.. but MTG Chicago is to the best of my knowledge registered as an online comercial business meaning stasch is legally responsible for the theft he's done (any lawyers feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). I have had no reason to share Ill-will towards Stasch because I personally haven't had many negative dealings with him, but one day, Karma will bite him in his ass.

I am not one of his "barnicles", nor do I have anything to hide. As a new user I apologize if I gave you the wrong impression my profile has been updated. I never stated that anybody deserved to be screwed just that precautions should have been taken to avoid such things from transpiring. Stasch is subject to these laws as he does have a commercial business license, this much I know. However, since he is still in business I would assume that no legal action has been taken against him.

A few days ago I discovered this thread and read through the whole thing with great interest, not knowing anything about this guy but finding the whole development fascinating, yet unfortunate. Then yesterday I was looking in the back pocket of a trade binder and noticed two business cards that I believed I picked up at a Grand Prix or some sort of big event in Kansas City almost a year ago. One of the cards was for Star City (I bought an Emerald from them at their booth too worn to sell online) and when I looked at the second card I was a bit shocked to see Stasch Kuras' name and MTGChicago. If I took his card it is because I was talking to him about potentially buying power via mail. So I guess it's a good thing I never pursued any purchase from this guy. But he definitely had a booth in KC not too long ago.
If someone is banned from sanctioned play does that also prevent them from setting up as a vendor at a Wizards sponsored event?

No, DCI imposed bans can either ban people from specific things (such as being a TO, or being a player). While what Stasch did was extreme and certainly ban-worthy, he was at the event as a player and was banned as a player.
