First of all;
Nice Job to split in the Finals.

Seccondly;
WOW 2x D-Day in the Final. That is something i really like to see after all the Flash and Oath decks.

Sideboard:
4 Leyline of the Void
4 Dark Confidant
3 Quirion Dryad
1 Research/Development
1 Thoughtseize
1 Hurkyl's Recall
1 Massacre

What i think is interesting is your choise for Quirion Dryad. Can you eleborate on how you used him and can you explane your overall sideboarding strategie. What would you change in your main and/or Sideboard if you would play the deck again.

Just a player from Holland

Quirion dryad was included in the sideboard for the aggro/aggro-control matchups. Quirion dryad is a big problem for decks like fish/deez noughts when they board out their creature removal for more anti-combo cards like stifle, trickbind, orim's chant, duress, thoughtseize, et. al. There was a choice between empty the warrens, quirion dryad, and tarmogoyf. In the end, quirion dryad seemed like the best since it beats tarmogoyf and jotun grunt as well as us predicting that there would probably not be many workshops where goyf would be better.

Dark confidant is included for the same reasons as quirion dryad as well as serving a better roll in the control/combo matchups where multiple duress effects and forces exhaust Doomsday's hand.

As far as changing the deck, there are 1-2 maindeck slots and up to 7 sideboard slots that can be changed to a person's preference. Those choices are for each person to taylor to their metagame.

@Webster - Can you give some explanation as to your choice of 4 Duress and 1 Thoughtseize main?

I would think the added benefits of Thoughtseize negate the loss of life. Do you feel the life loss is too much because of Gush/Bond?

Gush-based decks use life as a resource. I don't feel that the benefit of being able to take protean hulk, meddling mage, dark confidant, and various workshop men outweigh the disadvantages: being misdirected, the lifeloss from various sources (dark confidant, fastbond, necropotence) in the deck, and that I have a playset of foil signed 7th edition duress whereas my thoughtseize are just normal and boring.

My Fish list is top secret and can't be shared.

Well, maybe I'll post it when I get home if I remember to.

This is the monoblue player. First off I would like to thank Marco and Scott for lend me the cards needed to complete the deck.

I played the version that was posted here with the small changes of 1 Ophidian instead of 1 Meloku main and Threads of Disloyalty over 1 brainfreeze. I had never played a game with the deck prior to this tournament and it certainly caught up to me.

I really punted the semis and round 2 and hopefully next time I wont suck so bad. Lots of fun though and looking forward to the next one.
