When the whole Painter's Servant combo broke, I set out to order some Painter's Servants. So, I looked around and saw who had the best prices. They were mostly at a dollar or so each. I put in a preorder from ccghouse.com, 16 Painters for 99 cents each, plus Shipping and Handling.

I got the package yesterday. It was a yellow envelope sent via USPS, and it contained only my order slip. Not a single card. Just the packing slip.

I called and they insisted that because the price went up they would be unwilling to send me the cards again. They said that the only thing they could do was refund my order.

So, I have no recourse. I purchased something, and did not receive it.

And I wanted everyone else on here to know of my experience.

I would agree with MM.  Unless it is stipulated on their site somewhere that they are allowed to do this, the two of you entered into an agreement whereupon you paid for a product at the price they offered it.  They failed to provide the product, yet took your money.  They are responsible for providing the product to you, regardless of whether the "value" of said product has increased.

Thank you for sharing this with the community. I love how some businesses think that they can rip people off on pre-sales when it benefits them, and yet refuse to sell when it turns out they are getting the worse end of the deal.

Additionally, you are absolutely entitled to the goods you purchased at the price you paid. Since that's not going to happen (and honestly, it's not worth the hassle of trying to get the cards at the price you paid), I would recommend just getting your money back. That, and post threads like this wherever you think is prudent (assuming what you have said is true and I have very little reason to doubt it).

I will not be ordering from ccghouse.com.  Ever.

This is beyond contemptible for the record.

That sucks. As it is only 16 dollars, it is obviously not worth lawyers lol! The best we can do is boycott!

Since Painters are pretty much gonna be top tier in Vintage and possibly Legacy, it wouldn't be such a bad idea to pursue a lawyer for this instance.

It's not 16 bucks, it's $112 bucks.  If he were to buy 16 painters at the $7 they are going for now, it would be $112.

Good to know. I know it's of little solace to you, but this business won't see a penny of mine. I'll follow Phil's lead and send them my thoughts, although I doubt they will care.

This is why i stopped dealing with Ebay.
I have a pretty good track record of identifying cards that are undervalued initially (Goyf, loam, reveilark ect.), and try to snatch up a bunch when they are cheap, then trade them for the expensive cards.
When mirrodin came out all the presales for platz, chromes, gilded's ect. were through the roof, however solemn simulacrum were only going for $5 a set for the pre sales. To me it looked like the best 'sort of non obvious' card in the set, and that totally came to pass for T2 once people started testing it. So by the time the set came out the going rate for simulacrum's was around 7-10 each.

I had 24 coming my way.

I received 9.

Oh sure i left negative feed back, was given the run around by the sellers and by ebay ect. But all that hassle and the lost potential money just made it not worth it.

I only deal with real online stores now, one's i've used in the past where i actually know someone working there.

Thanks for the heads up for CCG House.

Too bad about your servants.

Weird. I have never had this problem on ebay, I was worried about it when I pre-ordered 50 Painter's, but they all came, as have my cards in the past, like Sowers. I do pre-sales on ebay because I seem to get my stuff.

A friend of mine had a similar experience with a major card store when WOTC announced that the portal sets and starter would be legal for tournament play. He had bought all the imperial seals and grim tutors from the store but they conveniently 'lost' his order because of a computer problem and that he'd have to fill out a new one, where *gasp*, the prices had been changed. It was so long ago that I unfortunately don't remember the name of the store.

This is a case of mail fraud. The following site may be helpful to you:

http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/buspubs/mailorder.shtm

If I were you, I'd send a note to ccghouse letting them know that persuant with your rights outlined in the site above, you will be filing charges against them for intent to defraud using the postal service in X days unless you receive your merchandise. You can go to your local post office and get information there.

My experience with them hasn't been any better.  The only two times I ever ordered from them parts of my order were refunded cited as "out of stock".  I have since stopped buying from them as I cannot trust their site to accurately reflect what is or is not in stock.

as a note:
Quote from: CCGHouse.com
Other General Information:
1. We reserve the right to limit the quantity or remove an item completely from your order due to a site error, cards overselling, or for any other reason that we see fit. If we need to change your order for this reason, then we will contact you via email, and we will send a refund right away. We will also include a note that will be shipped with your order to eliminate any confusion once you receive your order.
2. We reserve the right to cancel orders if we think that they might be fraudulent, or ordered from a country to that we do not ship to. We may also ask you for a different form of payment for security purposes. You might also be asked to provide additional information such as scans of your ID and credit cards to prove your identity.
3. Box and sealed products purchased via the website are not eligible for in-store pick up. Please call or come in to the store for current in-store availability on sealed items.
They never contacted me by email and both times had cash shoved into a top loader.

just send them a link of this thread after more people post in it. Once they see that they pissed off a giant group of people (who buy vintage cards that obvi have the most value) it might change their minds.

I hate when businesses get tricky in order to save a buck, I'll also be avoiding CCGhouse from here on in.

Due to their claim that they have the right to change prices at any time, I would think this is akin to "bait and switch" tactics, which is fraud and illegal.

I've never had the pleasure of dealing with ccghouse on ebay.  Generally I have few problems, what I really hate is when some one lets something nice go for dirt cheap then yanks the listing in the last hour because I was going to get a tarmo for $1.50.  They claimed a listing error but whatever.  Or how about the guys wanting $20 shipping for an uninsured card in N. America.
After reading this thread I will not be buying from ccghouse at all.
Check out over the edge games on ebay.  Very reliable shipper with large stock of vintage cards.
And beware of S. Americain listings, I've been ripped off 3 times.
