****I apologize for the lateness of this post. My girlfriend got into a really nasty car accident last week. She is physically okay for the most part, but checking up on her, getting everything fixed, and work has taken up all my strength and time lately**** What You Need to Know: With 8-24 people, we will have 4 rounds of swiss and a cut to top 4. However, if we have less than 8 we might need to re-organize the structure a bit so it is important for me to get a head count ASAP in order to determine how best to announce the tourament. In general (unless this grows out of hand in popularity and numbers) I think I'd like to keep these tournaments under 5 hours so a strict 50 minute rounds rule will be applied. We are starting an hour earilier to ensure that even if the rounds go to time, we have sufficient time to finish before the store closes When? July 19th, 2009 Arrive at 2:30 to register. The tournament begins at 3:00 sharp Please, PLEASE be on time or, IF you think you'll be late then call me or cell message me at (917) 561-5224 and let me know. Where? Jim Hanley's Universe 4 W33rd st., between 5/6 avenue New York, NY (short walk from Penn station and right next to Herald Square, shouldn't be hard to find, but call me if you need directions) Tournament Format Unsanctioned Vintage (Type 1) with up to 15 proxies permitted (must be on a card and with Sharpie so it won't run or add thickness. All cards must also be in sleeves. Please try to make/bring your own proxies. If you need proxies, let me know up to 48 hrs in advance and I can provide them Entry Fee: $15 4 rounds of Swiss/ cut to top 4 Prizes (based entirely on attendance. $5 is a space fee that goes to the store, the rest goes towards the prize structure) With 10 people the prize structure would look like this: 1rst - $55 2nd - $25 3rd/4th - $10 each I personally informed the istaff at the last event of this date, so there should be no communication problems this time around. They really loved the attendance of the last one, and are looking forward to seeing you all this weekend. I am putting my info below in case anyone needs to reach me before the event. I'm best reached through my phone as of late with all this that has happened lately. JostinRodriguez@gmail.com(917) 561-5224 Try to email or call me if you have questions or concerns. You can PM me but it might take a day or two to get back to you (because I havent been home that often). I look forward to seeing you on Sunday.

NYC, baby!!!
I can't tell you how dope it is to not have to scrub a ride to a tournament that's in Philly or Waterbury. I'm rounding up the fellas as we speak.

I'm pretty sure I'm going and I'm pretty sure that I will have at least two others with me.
This is going to be my last event for a while. I hope it's well attended.

I need thirteen random commons/uncommons, so I can make my proxy limit. I have cash, if necessary. Please PM, if you think you can help.

Jostin didn't write one up and I didn't write a winner's report. I need thirteen random commons/uncommons, so I can make my proxy limit. I have cash, if necessary. Please PM, if you think you can help.
Send me a PM with whatever you need. If it's random enough that I probably won't care about value, you can have it.

The girlfriend a better. The bandages came off earlier this week but the car repairs are costing an arm and a leg. Otherwise, things are as good as can be. She's just shaken up a bit.
As for the store, I am calling them to remind the staff personally I avoid any confusion like last week.
Again, if you have questions or concerns, just hit me up on the Pune or email. See you all tomrrow.

The car can be fixed, thank God she's alright. Sometimes the man upstairs reminds us of where we stand in life, and just what's really important. At least the wounds incurred will heal.

A last minute emergency at home demands my attention. Sorry Jostin, I'm not going to be able to make it. UFactor, I'm going to send a text out to one of my friends who will be there (Austin aka Sporkcore) and I'll see if he can't lend you what you need.

Are you the Ichorid guy? ----------- Thanks to everybody who showed up. I had a good time, though a slightly disappointing finish, particularly after the proper play was shown to me after game 3. But, that's why you practice; it's my own fault. I hope we continue to have these in the future.

THanks to Jostin who put together an awesome show despite adversity.
Good times!!! Most of my opponents played like champs. I would play at JHU in heartbeat.

Good games to all, I had a great time, and thanks again Jostin.
Ichorid beat me (Josh with Oath) in the finals.

Yes, I'm David. When I tutored for Lotus I thought I had one more turn to let you do whatever you were gonna do, but would get a chance to untap then do something fairly game breaking involving Will and Lotus. While I figured that some disruption was a possibility, I was completely surprised by what you ended up doing (namely just winning, besides the other pre-lethal damage things you did). I'm fairly certain what you got was not luck so much as just running the deck the way it's meant to be played. I did notice the possibility of playing Will that turn, but decided against it because I felt like I could take control of the game next turn, while I would get a slightly less amazing Will if I did it right then and there. In hindsight, this was clearly wrong. Having struggled with Ichorid in the past, I've decided I have to hang the loss on 1) your well built deck and 2) my lack of understanding of how to play the Ichorid matchup. I just didn't understand the matchup the way I needed to and consequently failed to make the right play. I think even if I get the chance to untap, you're still going to probably be winning next turn, so I would have had to get Time Vault online that turn, which I don't know was possible (I'd have to look at the mana and what all I had available). If I make the right play, I think the game is probably competitive (depending upon the disruption package you ended up having sided in for that game and what you had readily available). Thank you for pointing out afterwards what I should have done. Congrats on winning both our matches as well as the tournament.

Yep congrats on winning dude, well played. The Cabal Therapy on Force of Will won you the last game. I'm really liking manaless right now, much more than the Crop Rotation dredge. Did you have an answer for Platinum in the deck at all though? I didn't see one unless you had Ancient Grudge or Angel of Despair I never saw. Just wondering. I'm definitely going to have to actually pay attention to Ichorid now.

Well, thanks for the support guys, i really apperciate it..being i was really never in a vintage tournament before. The thing was, that i have been playing Ichorid for about 2-3 years, when it was just an idea. I took that and created my own, with Sundering Titan, and never wanted to make it run mana. And yes, i didnt have an answer for angel, i was running Ancient Grudge. People have really changed Ichorid since it first started being played, with Angel of Despair and such, but i kept it simple. Also if anyone is a free agent, meaning they arent on a team or anything, they can always team up with mine. If youre interested, please let me know or Joe (shadow).
