Did the entire top 8 get paid out this time? I'm not wild about 5-8 not getting at least $25 store credit, which is about 1/3 of the reason I didn't go (the other 2/3 being that I didn't want to drive to Berkley all by myself).

I will never ever complain about prize support when the TO gives out what they promised, ever.

Tyler Daykin ran an ALPHA MOX SAPPHIRE tourney in Reno, and paid up even though 11 or 13 people showed.

potato:  do you think we can get a list of the meta?  like 6 tezz, 3 storm, 2 goblins, 4 stax etc?

This should be doable, but one would have to go to the store and check the lists, which may or may not still be there.

I'll definitely keep your request in mind and provide that info in future reports, however.

My recollection: 0 fish decks of any kind, 0 dredge of any kind, 2 TPS, 1 storm with baubles, 2 oath, 3 stax, 2 goblins, 1 TMWA, 3 tezz, 3 steel city, 1 dark depths

The top 8 reflects that it was a great day for the "rogues."

With only 18 people, giving prizes to the whole top-8 is a bit much.  I'd rather a tournament give out a piece of power for 1st and less for the rest than to distribute them to nearly half the entrants.

On that note, there's supposed to be a Vintage event at Superstars this coming Sunday, where it's been said they'll start giving out a Mox for first in an effort to increase attendance (but they'll stop if attendance continues to be poor).  Except the event's not listed on the Superstars calendar, nor has the thread in the Announcement forum been bumped up, nor have I seen any flier in the store about it, nor have I received any other notice that the tournament exists.  And to top it off, this one happens to be the same weekend as PT Austin.  I love the idea of playing for a piece of power, but advertising really has to get better to keep these up.

Ah, duh, I was thinking he meant for removing what they tutored for for some reason...

So that's a good point, Extirpate is clearly better as a top deck tutor killer, but Natural Selection doubles as a crappy additional Ponder and as a bonus boasts a funny picture of a tiger with a bird's head.

This. For a business that makes it's money through people showing up to tournaments you'd think they would want people to know they are happening....
