Maybe it would be a fun idea for the next local event to have kings games vs marcs comics and who ever hits 1st place representing whichever store the following event we all play at the winners store?

I've passed by St. Marks Comics before. Do they even run Vintage events at all? More importantly, COULD they? I mean, do they have the space to accommodate 50-60 people if need be? I'd love to consider hosting some tournaments there. Especially if it would attract some of the NYSER who do not like King's Games. Is there reasonable parking in the East Village anywhere near there? PM with anything you know about the store and perhaps I'll visit soon to scope it out. -Storm

Rob, Weekly Vintage events are exceptionally rare. To the best of my knowledge, there are only other two places in the world where you can find a weekly Vintage event held in a store - in Massachusetts at Scholar's, and in the Netherlands, with Tuesday Night Vintage. The Kings Games events are not as frequent as the NYSE events, which means that it would be a wait between events (Kings Games does not seem to have anything scheduled until September.) While it's a good idea, it would be too tough for me to implement, and I couldn't do it.

"The Kings Games tournament was announced with five days notice."
Did you mean to say it was announced on these forums with five days notice? It certainly wasn't "announced" with 5 days notice. If you want Alex to be more cognizant of these forums and care more about catering to the people on them, you are not off to a very good start.
Nick, I know you are saying it is a dead issue, but I have to comment on this. Chris, yes, Alex did not announce this in any way, shape, or form, prior to it being posted here. I am (or was) on his mailing list for some odd reason and have been given as little as a one day notice on events. So, I don't know where it was ever announced, but if it is not on his mailing list, then I have not idea where else anyone would ever find it. I knew about it for at least a couple weeks. I don't think I have any superpowers. Alex has been terrible about announcing his tourneys, nobody is disputing that.

So we have another Mark's Comics Saturday Night Vintage up tonight.
And, to top it off, it looks as though this event may go off for a Drain or an Underground Sea (depends upon the number of entrants.)
Come out and support Mark's - help us keep the plateau that we reached last weekend, and help me offer better prize support for the weekly tournaments.

A sincere thanks to all who came out to the event tonight.
So, we had another solid turnout, with 14 guys showing tonight. An Underground Sea was given out as prize support.
There will be no weekly Vintage next week - as NYSE X falls on the 31st.
Saturday Night Vintage will resume the week after, on Saturday, August 7th. 1st place prize, in all likelihood, will be an Underground Sea.
Hope to see you all then!

So, we have Saturday Night Vintage at Mark's Comics this week. The people there will have the option of paying $10 to compete for an Underground Sea, or paying $15 and competing for an English Mana Drain.
Should be a good turnout too as very few New Yorkers are going to GenCon.

The top 10 in the N.Y.S.E. Player of the Year Race:
1st - Jake Gans - 90 points 2nd - Raffaele Forino - 81 points 3rd - Ashok Chitturi - 62 points 3rd - Ryan Glackin - 62 points 5th - Austin Pollack - 59 points 6th - Jim Davis - 53 points 7th - Ralph Parsinitz - 51 points 8th - Thomas Dixon - 44 points 8th - Michael Egan - 44 points 8th - Jason Imperiale - 44 points It's a hell of a race and I'm really looking forward to seeing who takes it down.
And yes Bauer, you do need to play in the Lotus tournament. A win would bring you right into the upper end of that bracket.

So for those of you who will not be joining me in my venture to the untamed wilds of Massachusetts, there is another Mark's Comics weekly Vintage tournament on Saturday. Registration starts at 5pm, with a 5:30 start for round one. Entry fee is $10, with a first place prize of a Revised Underground Sea.
Additionally, as I'm sure you've noticed, the next N.Y.S.E. Lite has been posted. It will be held at Comicbook Depot on 9/19. All the details can be found in the thread in this forum.

Last night's results, Alex Owen took down Greg Frenton's Oath with his BUG Tezz. The rest of the top 4 was Mike Savage and James Hangley. However i did take down the limbo challenge, hands down,

Sunday's event was taken down by... Michael Bauer, once again running U/R Painter.
There will be no event this week due to the Scars of Mirrodin pre-release.

There is not. With all that has gone on personally lately, and other commitments that I have had, I have not had the time to schedule/organize this. The next N.Y.S.E. event is in two weeks at Brothers Grim.

I'd like to remind everybody that we have another Saturday Night Vintage coming up this week at Mark's Comics. The prize for this event is tentatively scheduled to be an Underground Sea, though confirmation will go up as soon as I know that Mark still has a Sea in stock.
Congratulations to James Hangley on winning last weeks Saturday Night Vintage (and an Underground Sea), taking down Greg Fenton in a 5CStax vs. Oath finals match.
