Blue Bell Game Day #6!

    Saturday, July 3rd, 2010
    Alternate Universes
    1530 DeKalb Pike
    Blue Bell, PA 19422

FREE 4th of July BBQ at AU!

So I looked at the calendar, and saw that this was the only feasible weekend in July to hold a Vintage event, without crushing up against other events that players will want to go to.  So I asked myself "Self, what do I need to do to assure that people will show up?  After all, it's the 4th of July weekend..."  The solution, we'll be Barbecuing all afternoon outside, with free hot dogs, burgers, and assorted sides of deliciousness available to anyone playing in the vintage tournament.  I'm footing the bill on this one, nobody is required to pay anything, but if you decide to donate a few dollars out of the goodness of your heart, I will certainly accept it.

I hope to see you all there, and enjoy a day filled with more then average festivities and socializing, as well as some fun vintage card slinging!

   Vintage Event

Start Time: 12:00 Noon (Registration @ 11:00 AM)
        Entry Fee: $25
        Format: Vintage
K-Value: Unsanctioned, 10 proxies allowed for free. You can purchase up to five more proxies at $1 each.
        REL: Competitive (like a PTQ)
Decklists will be required (and published).

The Prizes: (these prizes are based on +/- 40 players, and will definitely go up if we have more)
        1st Place: UL Mox Emerald
        2nd Place: $200 in credit
        3rd + 4th Place: $100 in table credit
5th-8th Place: $50 in table credit
        9th Place: a Three Wolf Moon T-Shirt
Highest player with no proxies: $25 in table credit

2010 Player of the Year Race:
This event will count towards Player of the Year 2010! Players can earn points throughout the year by playing vintage, each match win is worth 3 points, each draw is worth 1 point, and each loss is worth 0 points (just like the swiss points system used in tournaments). Players in the Top 8 will be awarded bonus points based on their finish, as follows:

        1st place: 12 points
        2nd place: 9 points
        3rd + 4th place: 6 points
        5th - 8th place: 3 points

   Side Events:

Sanctioned Vintage: (YES that means no proxies!)

Start Time: After the last swiss round.
        Entry Fee: $5
        Format: Vintage
        K-Value: 16k

        Prizes:
1st Place: $50 in table credit. (minimum of 8 players)
2nd-8th: Based on the number of players.

My Player of the Year contest has nothing to do with Wizards of the Coast Player of the Year contest.  Do not confuse the two.  Mine is for participants in my unsanctioned Vintage tournaments.

Nick, talk to me about this BBQ.  I will help out.  Both with providing, and cooking.  Um, and eating.

Every fifth day is a "Halladay" in Philly, Hornung... yep, I went there too!

You know I'll be there, with BBQ being served I'm guaranteed to go ploose on the day! I'll probably bring some food too.

No eating around the expensive Vintage cards please!

Let me just say that when he says fight to the fourth party he means a literal brawl to make it alive to the fourth of july.

Nick, being a vegetarian, if I bring Boca Burgers, think you can do one up for me on it's own special foil? Yeah, I'm THAT guy.....Hopefully I will be able to attend this as well, the rain will not interfere and I would bring chips, napkins, whatever to help out.

Just checked the schedule, and I am off that day! Without even asking! Sweet!

I also just made this post from work too! Hooray for being transferred to a less-busy store and relaxed Internets restrictions!

We can make that work, no problem (unless being given a hard time is a problem Wink)

If this is the case.....
im going to throw out this option.  that the blue bell be played at my house.  it can comfortably seat enough and with the inclusion of the fight to the fourth .... i see no real problem.  well except for white Russians.  Oh and Jameson and gingers.  appearences from the God of Thunder..... blowing up a boat.

Oh I enjoy it actually. Ask Mr. Grim, I get busted on for it all the time, but it's all in good fun. This is a great idea, and the reason why I love the Vintage community.

Jimmy, if we blow up your family boat can we blame Somalian Pirates?  I would love to see you explain that to the Long Beach PD.

If you've got more than one pirate get-up, I'll go dressed as a pirate, and I'll get Egan to dress up as a pirate too.  Jimmy would definitely do this as well.

My vote is that we do this Jeff Probst Survivor style. Nick cuts to a top 8 and places the names in a large urn, everyone drives to Jimmy's house and we play the top 8 at sea on his boat with a giant reveal and party.

Blue decks will play in their natural habitat like that time I played cats on that abysmal forest warhammer terrain.

All I know about PA laws, is when your friend is going 100+ down the highway, do not be underage and drunk in the passenger seat. Learned that one out the hard way.

edit: It appears I might be fighting my way to the forth with Jimmy and Aaron, but that depends if Gin buckets are being served.
