New York players, the time has come!  It's your opportunity to choose the team that will represent you in the upcoming New England vs. New York vs. Pennsylvania Grudge Match on August 28th.

The rules for voting are these:

1.  You can only vote for Team New York if you are a New York player.  You don't have to be planning to come to the Grudge Match, though.

2.  To verify that all votes come from New York players only, the voting thread isn't a blind poll.  Instead, to cast your vote, make a post with your choices.  If you're not especially active in the New York Vintage scene, it might help to mention the area where you live, or a tournament in New York that you played in.

3.  You can make up to 3 choices for the main team.  The 3 players with the most votes will be the primary members for Team New York.  You can only choose from the list of candidates below.

4.  You can also vote for 3 additional "understudies" for Team New York.  In case someone on the main team can't make it, one of the understudies will fill in for them.  You can choose anyone you want to be an understudy, whether or not they're on the ballot for the main team.  They do need to be a New York player though, and it would probably be good to ensure they're planning to go before voting for them.

5.  The voting will be open for 2 weeks.

The ballot for the main roster for Team New York:

Vincent Forino ("v4ino")
Nick Detwiler ("Prospero")
Jake Gans
David Earley ("Yare")
Austin Pollack
James Hangley ("forcethewill")
Corey Mann
Chris Pikula ("Meddling Mage" "chrispikula")*
Raf Forino*
Max Brown ("2nd lawl")

* Chris and Raf aren't positive they can make it to the tournament.  Voting for them might make it more likely one of the understudies will need to fill in.

Happy voting, and may the best team win!

Obviously Max doesn't live in New York.

I gave DA the list and he slipped my mind.  Sorry Max.  Can we edit to have him on there?

Vinnie Forino (v4ino)
Chris Pikula (chrispikula)

Understudies:

James Hangley (Forcethewill)

Honest, as much as Nick deserves a primary team spot for his knowledge and his contributions, I just have not seen enough of him playing to make that pick.

How about him being on the Main team for all the wins and t8's he's had? Def more than most of the people on the ballot.

For contributions to Vintage as a player, deck designer, and community builder in NY, you're not going to top Detwiler.  Plus he's a good dude.  I would be disappointed in the people of NY if he didn't make it.  I also feel his hatred for other geographic regions is quite strong...

but he has not had any top 8 spots with espresso stax which he will definitely play so mike has a good reason not to vote him

And now, the results!  The ballots have been tallied, and Team New York will be...

Nick Detwiler ("Prospero")
Jake Gans

and...

A tie!  Between Chris Pikula and Jimmy Hangley, at 4 votes each for the main team.  I hadn't expected there to be a tie.  So I'll extend voting until the weekend to break the tie for the third spot on Team NY.  More details below.

In the understudy vote, there were three breakout favorites.  Austin Pollack, Max Brown, and Jimmy Hangley dwarfed the competition.  But Jimmy Hangley might be on the main team.  If that happens, Vinnie Forino would be the next runner-up.

So, there'll be a runoff vote between Chris Pikula and Jimmy Hangley for the third slot on Team New York.

If Chris wins, Team New York will be:

Nick Detwiler
Jake Gans
Chris Pikula

with understudies Jimmy Hangley, Austin Pollack, and Max Brown.

If Jimmy wins, Team New York will be:

Nick Detwiler
Jake Gans
Jimmy Hangley

with understudies Austin Pollack, Max Brown, and Vinnie Forino.

So begins the runoff between Chris Pikula and Jimmy Hangley.  Any New York player, whether or not they voted in the main contest, can participate in the runoff vote.
