How much do you test?
My ‘other’ hobby is ending for the year tomorrow which will free up some more time that I could potentially put toward testing Vintage. I’d like to get some indication from the community what constitutes a ‘normal’ amount of testing time.
Obviously this number is contingent on Vintage activity in your area, whether you’re on a team or not, and whether you’re preparing for a specific tournament. The only other competitive playing I do is some small amount of Legacy, where I’ve basically locked into playing Bant Survival, so assume my testing time will be focused on Vintage.
Additionally, any tips for ‘how’ to test would be appreciated, though please keep in mind that I’m the only Vintage player in my state.

Vintage is a lovely format, it's too bad so few people can play because the supply of power is so small.
Chess really changed when they decided to stop making Queens and Bishops. I'm just glad I got my copies before the prices went crazy.

I don't test at all. Testing is a waste of time. It's Vintage.

Really? Here in Spain the players with the best results are those who play/test most. I guess this was truth everywhere. I play/test more than 7 hours a week.

I used to test 7+ hours per week, but now I can only test 1-3 hours per week. I don't count MWS, but it's helpful to see if my deck does what it is supposed to.
I still keep 3-4 good vintage decks proxied up and 3-4 bad vintage decks proxied up in case the opportunity arises.

I test whenever I go to my local card store or hang out with my friends who play Vintage. It averages out to about 2ish hours per week but I spend much more time than that actually thinking or doing magic related stuff.

I am almost sure that this isn't correct in many ways...

I test for the elimination rounds during the Swiss; anything else would be uncivilized.

Oh yea? Well I test negative hours and as a result of an uncanny process I wind up with an average day consisting of 26 hours.

i get my gf to help me test 2-3 matches a week. Other then that i keep 3-4 decks proxied up in case i meet someone else who plays vintage and play against them. otherwise i might test on mws if i see someone from TMD playing vintage on there.
