Blue Bell Game Day #8!

    Saturday, September 4th, 2010
    Alternate Universes
    1530 DeKalb Pike
    Blue Bell, PA 19422

   Vintage Event

Start Time: 12:00 Noon (Registration @ 11:00 AM)
        Entry Fee: $25
        Format: Vintage
K-Value: Unsanctioned, 10 proxies allowed for free. You can purchase up to five more proxies at $1 each.
        REL: Competitive (like a PTQ)
Decklists will be required (and published).

The Prizes: (these prizes are based on +/- 40 players, and will definitely go up if we have more)
1st Place: UL Mox (choice of whatever I have available)!
        2nd Place: $200 in credit
        3rd + 4th Place: $100 in table credit
5th-8th Place: $50 in table credit

2010 Player of the Year Race:
This event will count towards Player of the Year 2010! Players can earn points throughout the year by playing vintage, each match win is worth 3 points, each draw is worth 1 point, and each loss is worth 0 points (just like the swiss points system used in tournaments). Players in the Top 8 will be awarded bonus points based on their finish, as follows:

        1st place: 12 points
        2nd place: 9 points
        3rd + 4th place: 6 points
        5th - 8th place: 3 points

   Side Events:

        Vintage:

Start Time: After the last swiss round.
        Entry Fee: $10
        Format: Vintage
        K-Value: Unsanctioned, 15 proxies

        Prizes:
1st Place: $50 in table credit
2nd Place: $25 in table credit
3rd - 8th: Based on the number of players.

My Player of the Year contest has nothing to do with Wizards of the Coast Player of the Year contest.  Do not confuse the two.  Mine is for participants in my unsanctioned Vintage tournaments.

I realize this is short notice but the decision to run a blue bell on the holiday weekend was last minute.  Sorry you can't make it, hope to see you next time (OCT 2)

Debating on showing up wearing a Red Sox cap and a "I <3 Scott Barry" T-shirt.

Also, I have no problem playing Vintage to celebrate the 12th birthday of Google.  Some holidays simply don't get in the way.

Another BBQ to celebrate the holiday, eh eh?

Sadly the odds I'll have off for this day are slim to none, as I was able to secure a three-day weekend for Waterbury the week after. But we'll see.

Debating on showing up wearing a Red Sox cap and a "I <3 Scott Barry" T-shirt.

Knock yourself out, by the time this tournament rolls around nobody will remember who Scott Barry is.

Yeah, sorry Nick, but with this short of notice, I can't cancel my plans for the weekend. One of these days, I'm getting back to Blue Bell.

This just in... I'm off and shall be making an appearance! As Elias said, this is a perfect tune-up for Waterbury.

Hehe it's ok Mike, you don't need to use the date of the announcement as an excuse, we knew you weren't going to make it Wink

Not only is it a myth, but if anything it will hit the Eastern edge of LI on Thursday Night into Friday.

To prove my point, this is from the National Weather Service:

PROBABILITY OF TROPICAL STORM/HURRICANE CONDITIONS...
THE CHANCE FOR HURRICANE CONDITIONS AT THIS TIME IS LESS THAN OR
EQUAL TO 9 PERCENT. ALSO...THE CHANCE FOR TROPICAL STORM
CONDITIONS AT THIS TIME IS UP TO 53 PERCENT. THIS REPRESENTS A
GENERAL STEADY TREND SINCE THE LAST FORECAST.

if anyone is heading out to blue bell from NY please let me know, I'd like to catch a ride.  I of course will be tossing into the Toll/Gas pool.  Please let me know as soon as possible, as I intend on lending decks/cards to other attendees.

You're both playing Storm decks?!? WTF is going on here?

Oh I get it, it must be some kind of DredgeStorm deck! You know, Dredge your graveyard, then flashback a Recoup targeting a Yawg's Will and go crazy. It could work. How you're going to make all the mana to do this is a question I choose to ignore.

27 players, only 2 from NY, way to represent! (Edit: should be 3, I forgot about Visna, sorry!)

I was fortunate enough to get the round 1 bye so here are the results of my scouting. I don't vouch 100% for the accuracy.

1 Landstill
4 Tendrils-like decks
1 Faeries
1 5c Stax
5 Dredge (and this is without Mark Horny and Sam Berse in attendance!)
2 Noble Fish
1 Merfolk
5 Tezz-like decks
1 R/B Beats
3 Oath
1 Dark Times
2 MUD (wonder why there are so few today, hmmmmm...)

Edit: -1 Oath / +1 Tendrils-like deck

I won the single elimination side event and got an English mana drain for the 2nd blue bell tournament in a row with landstill! My matchups were DREDGE, DREDGE, METAL WORKER MUD!.....I ended up beating first dredge player 2-1 and i mulled to 2 game 2 and still won, then I went 2-0 vs next dredge player (I admit this will only happen 1 out of 300 matches), then I 2-1 vs mud, here was my list

4 standstill
4 fow
4 drain
2 stifle
2 pierce
2 daze
2 mindbreak trap
2 crucible
1 recall
1 walk
1 brainstorm
3 bolt
1 echoing truth
3 null rod
2 gorilla shaman
1 mystical
1 hurkyls

4 fetch
4 volc
1 sea
3 island
4 waste
1 strip
4 factory
1 sapphire
1 ruby
1 lotus

sb.
4 leyline
3 jailer
1 bojuka bog
1 sea
4 threads
1 bolt
1 reb

Nick thanks for an awsome tournament, thanks for the mana drian, and congrats to all who topped!
