Sometimes you just have to let children make their own decisions and hope for the best.  Sometimes they disappoint you, but you have to let them make their own mistakes.

Props: me for taking this thing down with protype portal.dec
Travis and hatch for an excellent day 1.
Nick and Jeff Anand for being in the club.

Slops: all the people who claimed they were going to this and didnt. We need to support vintage if these events are to continue.

Cant wait for day 2!!!

Hell yea It was a sick ass tourney regardless of the attendance. Travis is the MAN! Musical chairs for Alpha Mox Ruby was awesome, and yes I won! More people should have definitely came out to this one. NE vintage is not in the spirit it was in when I left 2 years ago. I'm very happy I took this one down as well after a 2 year hiatus. It was a top 4 split with me (Nick Rodrigues) playing 617 GushStorm, Ray Robillard playing Protype portal, John Longo with Tezzeret, and another gentleman playing Mud.
There were 16 shop arch-types out of 31 players! After the tourney a bunch of us went to the bar for beers. Fun times.
Props: Travis for helping keep NE vintage alive, for Team 617 for having 2 of our team mates in the top 4

I definitely will be running these every 2 months or so.

And yes, for all you scrubs that didn't show up, I gave away an alpha mox ruby in a MUSICAL CHAIRS SIDE EVENT.  Because that's how I roll.  AND YOU MISSED IT SON.

It was a great time, and this venue is pretty much a perfect location.  Look forward to many of these to come.

Thanks to the following people who made it all possible, Chris Hatcher for finding this place, Nick Coss and Jeff Anand for vending even though it was a rough turnout, and everyone else who made the trip to play.

Slops to the bar however, for not opening until after 5 pm.

This was the most fun I've had at an event in quite a while.  I'm going to buy Kowal booze more often.  Very Happy

Sorry about the attendance, Travis.  More people should have gone to this. Regardless, you put on another fantastic event and I thank you for that. More of these, please!

I really wanted to be there to see the look on Travis' face when he had to whip out his abacus to count out my 1st place prize winnings.  I knew that no weak-sauce Shop deck, or nostalgic Gush deck, would stop me.  However, a debilitating illness got the job done.

Sorry to hear attendance wasn't commensurate with the quality of the event, but sometimes it takes a little while for enthusiasm to reach critical mass.

Syphilis?

I was worried I had contracted something like that from my most recent escapades in Kowal's parents' bed (Ray's mom really gets around), but thankfully it's just a serious sinus infection.

A lot of stuff got thrown out in between day 1 and day 2.  I'll look in my bag for the decklists from day 1 again but I'm pretty sure they are gone.

Top 8 was something along the lines of 7 mono brown shop decks and 1 gush storm deck.  Nothing really new or exciting, well, except for prototype portal I guess.

Day 2 was split by Tezz/Chant Fish, rest of top 4 was R/G Stax and W/R/B Magus Fish.  I'll pop up lists for the top 2 soon.

Do those 4 Voltaic Keys in Ray's list effectively have tap, pay one, draw a card when Sensei's Top is in play? (even without active Portal?)

I was also in the top 4 split for the Saturday event. Here's my list since Travis wasn't able to accomplish the simple task of not throwing the desklists out.

//Guys
4x Lodestone Golem
4x Steel Hellkite
2x Karn, Silver Golem

//Spells
4x Sphere of Resistance
4x Thorn of Amethyst
4x Chalice of the Void
4x Tangle Wire
3x Smokestack
2x Sculpting Steel
2x Crucible of Worlds

//Mana
1x Black Lotus
1x Mox Sapphire
1x Mox Jet
1x Mox Ruby
1x Mox Emerald
1x Mox Pearl
1x Mana Crypt
1x Sol Ring
1x Mana Vault
1x Tolarian Academy
4x Mishra's Workshop
4x Ancient Tomb
2x City of Traitors
4x Wasteland
1x Strip Mine
2x Rishadan Port

//Sideboard
2x Duplicant
4x Ratchet Bomb
1x Sculpting Steel
1x Ghost Quarter
2x Helm of Possession
3x Pithing Needle
2x Relic of Progenitus

The sideboard was changed at the last minute because I was walking around and didn't see a single Dredge deck in the room. Turns out to have been a good idea to change it around because there was only a single person playing it in the tourney. Originally I had 4x LotV but cut them for Pithing Needles and a Ghost Quarter.

I went 3-0-2 in the swiss and then won the first round of the top 8, splitting in the top 4.

Why there are 4 Forbidden Orchard in the Side? Cause the Oath matchup? what's the plan behind and have you used it?

Yes...Or imprinted on a portal they read:
Pay 2 mana draw an extra card
Next turn: Pay 3 mana, draw 2 extra cards
Next Turn: Pay 4 mana, draw 3 extra cards
Etc.

All while having the ability to view the top 3 cards.

How was Mox Opal for you Ray?

Not awesome, but usually as good or better than a Grim Monolith.  Even though it is worse with Key, it is better at getting off the ground.

Why there are 4 Forbidden Orchard in the Side? Cause the Oath matchup? what's the plan behind and have you used it?

Yes, Scott Hughes(Madpeep) was the inspiration for our anti-oath tech which followed the following evolution:
"I need some way for shops to kill without creatures:"
Pyromancy
(2 months later)
"It needs to be uncounterable"
High Market
(3 months later)
"It needs to not only stop them from Oathing, but improve the situation"
Forbidden Orchard
(2 months later)
"I need to cut Welder and Trisk from the maindeck.  Now, how do I kill them with their own oath?"
EMRAKUL!!!!
