AWESOME!
The new wording is pretty cool. But mostly, I'm just glad this card is returning. It's a blast in Draft.
This is really, really cool.

Man, I hate the new wording. I can see it. Sitting across from some dork at the prerelease, "Okay, I control you. Slap yourself! C'mon, I control you! hahahahah (insert more nerdy gamer laugh)." Ugh.

So we can make all the decisions for that player? Like making him decide to concede?

The new wording reminds me of a cute little card game called "Elixir", which has some Magic-inspired elements (playing as a wizard, using a variety of elements to fuel your spells, mostly), and in which certain cards have an effect outside of the game such has choosing a player who now has to do the next housekeeping duty (fetching drinks, cleaning the table...). I'm gonna make a deck with 4 of those, Tinker, Academy Ruins, and all that broken stuff, and play against my wife with this deck.

When Mirrodin first came out, the comp rules were updated saying that the "control a player's turn" effect explicitly does not allow you to concede on their behalf.

Yeah, well, the card doesn't say that anymore...

Yeah, well, the card doesn't say that anymore... It doesn;t need to. There's a whole section devoted to this in the comp rules.

Well, if the thing gets triggered, it's pretty much over. Should be anyway .

I like the new art a lot. I thought I had a playset of Mindslavers that I picked up in 2005 for $1.50 but as I leafed through my old binder it turns out it was a playset of Pentavus, which I had associated w. Slaver.

Just wow. There is so much to fool around with for shop players the coming year. PS check out the flavor text. A mention to Great Furnace. Artifact land?

Re: Forgemaster
It's nice for Esper EDH decks, but I don't see it in Vintage. It costs 5 and requires an untap to work. It doesn't work with Null Rod... if you can satisfy those conditions isn't playing Karn, then animating and swinging for the win superior?
Besides, what are you going to fetch? Sharuum ends up as a 5/5 flier for 5 that costs you a permanent, below the curve nowadays. She also can't be cast normally. Sundering Titan blows up 2-3 of their lands, but requires you to sack three permanents of your own. Possessed Portal is nice, but again is most relevant if you're ahead, since an opponent with Dark Confidant/Trygon Predator is probably still going to wreck you.
It is nice that it's repeatable (if you don't sack the Forgemaster itself), but I don't see any great targets. Are there Artifact Creatures with ETB -> Artifact creature tokens abilities? Maybe Pentavus. Even then you're using the first activation to find fodder for the subsequent activations (= not good).

Vintage is a lovely format, it's too bad so few people can play because the supply of power is so small.
Chess really changed when they decided to stop making Queens and Bishops. I'm just glad I got my copies before the prices went crazy.

I think Mindslaver (Scars of Mirrodin) is strictly better than Mindslaver (Mirrodin without Scars) because it is mythic, and as we all know mythics are better+worth more. My list of cards currently not played in Vintage just got updated:
#3405. Mindslaver (Scars of Mirrodin) #3406. Tarpan #3407. Mindslaver (Mirrodin)
