"Cards are great, but getting them or denying them has a cost. For paying that cost to be correct, it has to be less than the value of those cards, which means you have to know how much those cards are worth. "

Was an article I wanted to write for years, but never forced myself to.  I hope I did the topic justice... though I've gotten pretty positive feedback so far (<3<3).  Hope you can get something useful from it!

I'm pretty sure this is one of the most important Magic articles ever written.  I knew a lot of this stuff after having spent years talking with BrassMan, but I still feel like I leveled up after reading it.

Fantastic article.  I particularly like the way you looked at both Eternal formats in this one.

I completely agree with the non-personalized aspects of this statement. This is a hell of an article. The discussion surrounding Ancestral was particularly enlightening.

Just read this, loved it.

The lesson here is something I try to apply to my life as a whole. It bothers me greatly that people often take a piece of conventional wisdom and follow it blindly, rather than taking the bigger picture into account and considering whether said wisdom applies to the particular case.

I suppose it's mostly the thought that this format is just one big Mistake; and not even a very sophisticated one at that.
Much like humanity itself.

Solid article.  I wish more people follow the discovery of anomaly to a thorough dissection of its source.  Not only do you tell us how you went about it in a readable way, you also include a clear statement that these anomalies are actually quite common and we should pay more attention to them.
