After a night of furious play testing and Vintage theory discussion the Team Serious's Destruction Team Syndicate decided to go to the bar since Strongbows were only 2 bones. I brought up topics discussed earlier in The Death Star(our team chat forum) about the zombie apocalypse, Terminators, and gypsy curses. With topics as this cool we went straight into comparing how bad ass movie characters were and the age old question cam up, who can beat Vader? We started listing dudes, but came to a halt on Batman. My buddy Gee seems to think Batman can take Vader out in a fight. I asked him if he was joking and he replied "Absolutely not." He claimed that Batman's utility belt holds the technology to beat Vader. He backed it up with an old poll from Wizard Magazine that put Batman over Vader and I think it's absolute crap. Seriously! Batman beats Darth Vader? You've got to be kidding. Well, we debated for about two hours and neither of us budged on our stance.

So, to the TMD community, I present this age old question. Who would win in a fight between Darth Vader and Batman?

That's ridiculous.  Vader can use the force, and he can see things before they happen.  Batman doesn't stand a chance.

Batman's only super power is that he's super rich. Darth Vader stomps Batman like a 1 seed facing a 16 seed in the NCAA tournament.

Well, precognition obviously can't be the saving grace of every Force-sensitive thing in the Universe - if we go by what's on screen, people who have an extreme connection to the Force still die to events.  I mean, a duel between Yoda and Darth Sidious should probably just last into infinity if all it takes to be unstoppable is a little knowledge of the future; clearly it didn't go that way.

It's such a loaded question to ask about Batman vs ________, because Batman's key victories usually come after study and failure.  So, okay, does Batman know Vader's coming?  Is it like a "meet me at the tire swing at midnight" sort of thing, or is this just Bats randomly getting jumped by a Sith in a darkened alleyway?

That whole "choke you out over closed circuit TV" thing is a pretty good skill, though.  I dunno.

Batman beats Vader in the fight (probably using a BatEMP), but of course Batman doesn't kill him and there's no way Gotham's police force can contain Vader.

Vader lives to fight another day.

Batman. No question. He deals with people with Vader's kind of power on a routine basis.

We all know that Wesley Willis can defeated Batman, and in fact has done so. The real question is whether Wesley Willis could defeat Vader or not.

I think it really comes down to the ability to use foresight. If Batman's ability to plan goes farther than Vader's ability to foresee the future via the force, Batman wins. Other way around Vader wins. But as far as I know, we have no real way to judge which one goes farther.

So, I guess it's just a stalemate based on lack of information.

...

Unless you want to debate who wins when neither plans or can foresee the fight. Is that what the question is? Just dropping them in an empty room with no prior context and then having them instantaneously start fighting? See, this question is silly. Of course Batman wins.

Vader is a little bitch.  His powers are extremely lame, he was friends with jar jar binks, and he can't pick a damn side.  Yahoo Answers sums it up nicely for me.  But do keep in mind:

BUT PICARD NEVER LOSES TO Q!  Q is more interested in number one anways, and that never works out well for q anyways.
i need to brush up on my next gen, but i believe when number one joins the que, the enterprise gets the best of him some how anways.

also, batman only beats superman because superman gave him the tools to do so in the event that he goes crazy, i doubt vader would do the same!

If Q had the slightest interest in pwning Picard, Picard would be pwnt.  Plus he made him act a whole episode in Robin Hood garb - how is that not a win?

In the Expanded Universe of Star Wars, there is an animal who produces a bubble that blocks Force powers as a form of camouflage.

Batman goes over there, picks some up, and then whips Vader's ass. It wouldn't even be a fair fight at that point; Vader never trained while Force blind and he's too used to relying on the Force.

Edit: I forgot armor from spun cortosis ore can shut down lightsabers on contact.

Does Batman possess space flight?  I do not believe there are any Ysalamiri on Earth.

Batman has gone into space to fight villains all the time. Batman has even hopped into parallel dimensions before.

Worst case scenario: "Hey GL, can you go out to a planet over there and pick me up some critters? I need to beat some chump down."

If space travel out of the galaxy isn't possible, Batman and Vader wouldn't meet.
Of course that type of travel DOES exist in the DC Universe, and Batman has access to it. How many times has he gone into space to fight one conqueror or another?

If space travel out of the galaxy isn't possible
this is debatable! it depends largely on debatable aspects of m theory.

interesting side note, BATMAN IS NOT A SUPER HERO. He's a regular hero without super powers.

Gee, Batman fights crime, Vader slays Jedi. I don't see how crime fighting can dupe Jedi slaying. I don't think it matters how much technology and research Batman has or does. Sith can pull Starships down from Orbit. How can Batman deal with a power of that magnitude?

If the Sith are so powerful that they can pull starships out of the sky, how come they couldn't save at least one Death Star?

Sounds like superstitious hocus-pocus to me.  Something Superman might fall for, not Batman.

I think most of the Sith's (and further Jedi's) uber-super-duper feats of Force magic take place in the EU - which is apparently canon.  But there's a lot of like, weird DBZ type shit taking place there, there's like...Force Bombs and hadoukens and shit

At the end of the day, the only real answer to this question is determined by who is the star of the comic/book/film/show that the battle takes place in. If Vader is presented as the protagonist, his superior force powers, advanced technology, and overall badassery will allow him to overcome the Bat. If Batman is presented as the protagonist, he will doubtless ahve access to advanced research on force-users, he'll get a Yalsimiri (sp?), and set up an ambush in which his superior physical fitness and top flight martial arts allow him to overcome the Dark Lord.

Neither portrayal will fit though, because it's not Vader that Bats needs to worry about. Batman's ability to planand outsmart his opponents is what allows him to overcome adversaries of greater power level. Unfortunately he gets curbstomped by Palpatine in this area, who managed to plot so well that he overthrew a government supported by an army of precognitives, keep the trillions of beings under his rule ignorant of his coup until it was far too late, and maintain an evil empire over a million worlds for 23 years (that's 10yrs longer than Alexander the Great, and equal to Ghengis Khan, for anyone keeping track) in the face of (semi) open rebellion, and only got beat because some idiot engineer decided to put the shield generator outside the sheild (seriously, wouldn't that thing have fit INSIDE THE DEATH STAR SUPERSTRUCTURE?!?!?!?!?!?!?) and by becoming slightly overly obsessed witht he idea of having a super powerful apprentice after the "dissappointment" of Vader (really dude?, standards are too high k thnx). Since Bats isn;t a force-user, Palps won;t care about corrupting him, and so he just plain pwns the Bat when he intereferes with Vader, and by extension, Palps plans.

Batman does NOT have superhuman intelligence. And even if he did, you can't outsmart the future!
Side not, vader manages to keep his shit together in a multimeter that contains non humans with above human intelligence.
