Hi all! Every week, I'm going to start a 8-player single elimination bracket. Rules are very similar to the TMD online invitational: 1. Games are played publicly on Cockatrice 2. Players have at most a week to complete each match. 3. Lists must be posted after all round 1 matches are complete. 4. Prize is the opportunity to play a featured match against a well-recognized member of the Vintage community. (Volunteers?) 5. Drops after the bracket is drawn are final. Nobody can fill that slot. 6. Brackets will be fully randomized. There will be no preference or "seeds" of any kind. Registration will be closed once we have 8 people or about a week passes and I remember to draw up a bracket. Players signed up as of last update: 1. AmbivalentDuck 2. The Atog Lord 3. Cruel Ultimatum 4. evouga 5. credmond 6. Grand Inquisitor 7. T00L 8. Nataz First matches must be complete by Jan 23rd: one week from the close of signup. If all matches complete before then, the next set will be due within a week, and so on.  |

Is it me, or do these suffer from an ambitious ratio of rounds per week? I don't find one match per week too onerous. If you have a suggestion for changing the format or would like to host your own weekly/monthly/quarterly tourney, I'd love to discuss it. |

Grand Inquisitor, on the contrary, I appreciate the chance to play up to four guaranteed good matches of Vintage per week. Pickup Vintage games on Cockatrice are a gamble with fairly poor odds -- after waiting fifteen minutes for someone to join, you then discover your opponent doesn't know the rules, thinks "Vintage" means "casual theme deck with old cards," etc.

You still could have won though, even with a blast/bolt/pyro from the other side. Mystical for claim, gush to draw, claim null rod, play land, demonic for key, win?

My guess as to what happened: I set it to autoshuffle seeds and published the challonge. What I didn't do was *start* the challonge until I went to put T00L as having won 2-1 against whoever his opponent was. When I clicked "start the challonge" it may have reshuffled.
If we know how the bracket looked originally, I'll restore it.

cruel vs credmond
tool vs evouga (with tool winning)
atog lord vs grand inquisitor
Is that the right pairings in the right order?

I won versus Cruel Ultimatum 2-1. I was playing landstill and he was playing a stoneforge salvager deck with trinket mages. Seemed like a nice deck when he won game 1, but then it was mostly bad luck (I guess) for him. He mulled to 5 game 2 and mulled to 4 game 3 and I just had hands that didn't suck.
