It's interesting to read other Vintage set reviews, and compare them to my own. There is very wide discrepancy between my and your set reviews, but I think that is a good thing so people get contrasting views. You barely touch on half of the cards that I put into my middle category between unplayable and playable, and you didn't even mention cards that I think will appear in Vintage Top 8s over then next 6 month.
I definitely agree with the Facebook poster who said in reply to your article that the better comparison to Torch Fiend is not Vandal, but TS Hooligan. Of course, I think Torch Fiend compares favorably there because it can SIT in play, like Pridemage, and hit a Time vault at your leisure. Torch Fiend is an auto include in any red beats deck that doesn't run white.
And even in a R/W deck, I'd probably run multiple Torch Fiend, even with Relic Warder and Kataki as anti-artifact options. That's because any red beats deck is probably going to run Magus, and therefore Torch Fiend is better than Relic Warder unless you also run Vial. But I cover all that in my set review
Regarding the Planeswalker analysis, I discuss Sorin extensively in the unplayable section of my set review, but the touchstone for planeswalkers isn't whether they draw cards, but whether they generate card advantage. The planeswalkers that have seen Vintage play aren't just the one's that draw cards, but one's that generate card advantage -- like the Tezzerets or Liliana. None of those draw cards, but they generate card advantage. The Planeswalkers that don't see play are the one's that generate board advantage.
I do think, however, that it is possible that Planeswalkers which generate mana advantage could see play if there is an obvious application for that effect in Vintage. For example, if a blue planeswalker had Garruk's first ability, that would be very attractive

Especially if it set up a second second ability like draw two cards
