Check the Texans resume. It isn't nearly as impressive as their record/stats indicate. They won a close game versus the Jets, and took it too close with Buffalo (really?). They seem to play to the level of their competition, which is not a hallmark of a great team. Problem is, no one in the AFC is really any better. I'd pick the Steelers over them despite the records. Also probably taking the Patriots or Broncos.

The Texans keep getting better.  They might actually make it to the super bowl this year, but if not it will be soon enough.

They look like by far the best team in the AFC.  Patriots are really the only team that I could see beating them there.

How about Atlanta though with an absolute cupcake schedule the only good team left on their schedule is the Giants, and lately I'm questioning them with Eli playing so awful.

Pittsburgh looked pretty damn solid against New York last night.  I'd pick them over New England and Houston

They spanked the Ravens by 30 points! They beat the Broncos at Mile High! The Texans aren't paper tigers.

The Ravens are a shell of the team that they were. Beating the Broncos is the only win that was impressive to me. Their wins against the Jets and Bills are much more indicative to paper tiger status to me than the Broncos win is of them being very strong.

Texans vs Bears was all about defense, and of course creating turnovers.  What a shame Solider Field doesn't have a roof.

Any new thoughts regarding NFL teams after this weeks games???

If jay cutler could get his shit together/the bears had a differen, solid qb, that team would be close to unstoppable IMO

Ummm yes where are they getting this different solid qb? In my opinion Jay cutler is easily a top 15 qb.  Most starters in the league don't have an upside even close to Cutlers.  Just look at the second half of last nights game Jason Campbell is a pretty solid game manager and he did absolutely nothing in an entire half as quarterback.  The bears offense line is still below average and Brandon Marshal is the only good receiving threat.

Eli Manning needs to rest his arm on the bye week and step his game up in week 12 or the Giants season is over.

I'm not saying its possible for them to get a solid quarterback, basically saying he's the weakest link on the team from what I've seen especially when the defense is carrying the team through this season

It's really surprising how the entire team can be so hot and cold, not just Manning. Week one they didn't look "bad" but they lost, they were fine for a couple of weeks then lost in a horrible showing to the Eagles, another couple of wins including that kerb smashing of SF @ Candlestick (which was the week after their shutout when everyone was saying the 49ers were the "complete" team). Then lucky against the skins and frankly very lucky against the Cowboys (Bryants pinky finger going OOB)

At 6-2, having just beaten the 'Boys, you just felt they would kick on and use the rest of the season as practce for the playoffs but they couldn't beat the Steelers and the Bengals was one of the worst I've seen them play in a long, long time. They come off the bye into GB, 'Skins, Saints, Falcons then Ravens before finishing the season against the Eagles. I can see them winning some of those but it wouldn't surprise me to see them go 3-3. Will 9-7 be enough to get into the playoffs?

Let's not go too crazy here. They've still got a 1.5 game lead in the division over the Cowboys. Those last 6 games with the Packers, Falcons, Ravens, 2 division rivals  and an improving Saints team coming up looks pretty brutal; but I still think they're in the driver seat.

After another week and a win against a good Bears team for the Texans, I'll say it again. The Texans aren't paper tigers and they scare the shit out of me. I'm really glad I got tickets to the week 14 MNF matchup with them in Foxboro.

We'll revisit this in 2 weeks after that GB game but the Cowboys have 2 very winnable games (even for them) both at home against the Browns & the 'Skins before a 10 day gap going into the Eagles. The Giants could very well be going into that Green Bay game looking at the 6-5 Cowboys.

[gets carried away]Wow, the Cowboys may even make the playoffs!![/gets carried away]

So Big Blue beats Green Bay by 28, but loses to the 'Skins by 1. Can't say I saw that coming. The Cowboys got the Eagles and the Browns, but lost to the 'Skins. So we end up with this "A New Challenger Appears" with the reemergence of the 'Skins right in the thick of things.

Houston still looks strong. I can't wait for Monday Night at Gillette!

The injuries just keep piling up on the Ravens. They're still winning games, but they look shaky as hell.

I'm actually a Pats fan. I also hate the Ravens. I hate Bernard Pollard for hurting Brady/Gronk/Welker/Ridley/etc. I hate Joe Flacco for bitching about a lack of respect all the damn time. I hate Ray Lewis and his deer antler spray...oh, and that he probably murdered somebody and got off and now spends all day quoting bible verse.

I still called it.
