I think you can vote once per browser also, IE firefox/chrome/IE/etc. Not 100% about that.

You can vote as many times as you wish using Chrome's Incognito windows. It appears to be a cookie, not an IP address. In theory, that makes it very easy to script up a robo-voter.

Robo-voter complete.  With 2,847,654 votes and counting - looks like Land it is!

If that's true, it might be funny to just design the card ourselves and robo vote it in.

If they chose creature would something like this be comparable to Bob/Snap for creature decks?

Speaker of the Woods    1 {G}

Creature - Human Wizard Shaman

Shroud

Whenever you cast a creature spell draw a card and put a +1/+1 counter on Speaker of the Woods.

1/1

Would there be a more elegant way to design this guy? Some sort of hoser ability instead of the Card Advantage and Pump idea?

As written, that would push an already powerful Legacy deck over the top.

Glimpse of nature on a stick - I like it.  Combined with quirian dryad and all for 1G...yes please.  I'd love to run those with tarms and nobles and deathrites and just draw my deck and play out fatties galore.

Although at first glance, its home would appear to be creatures, I think it would be stolen from us and used in a ridiculous combo deck.

20x 0cc critters for the win?  Yes, please.  4 of this guy, 4 glimse of nature, 4 skullclamp, 20x 0cc, 4 esg, 4 ssg, emerald, ruby, lotus, mana crypt, 4x gaea's cradle - and a few storm spells - or kaerveks torches and springleaf drums.  Yeah - that would be the turn 1 hotness!

Maybe even 4 main vexing shusher to just make it ubernuts!

Apparently there's a run-off between enchantment and land?

I'm so torn! The only way I'd really want enchantment is if they made a freaking awesome sauce Leyline. Would they ever print such a thing?

arg!! Help!

Ok,

These are all first drafts, but what about these enchantment ideas:

1. Leyline of Swords   2 {W} {W}

Enchantment

If Leyline of Swords is in your opening hand, you may begin the game with it on the battlefield.

All artifacts have "At the beginning of your upkeep, sacrifice this artifact unless you pay 1."

That would be a nice free answer to shops I should say Smile. Ok, on to #2.

2. Leyline of Reflections   2 {U} {U}

Enchantment

If Leyline of Reflections is in your opening hand, you may begin the game with it on the battlefield.

Whenever a creature enters the battlefield that creature's controller chooses an opponent to gain control it until the beginning of his/her next upkeep.

This could be a very interesting card. Ok, on to #3

3. Leyline of the Wildwood   2 {G} {G}

Enchantment

If Leyline of the Wildwood is in your opening hand, you may begin the game with it on the battlefield.

Creature spells you play cost 1 less to play.

Creature spells you play have flash.

Ok #3 might be a bit overpowered, but it's fun to dream right?

Also,

On the non-leyline route what about something like this:

Miser     {W}

Enchantment

At the beginning of each upkeep, if no spells were cast last turn, put a coin counter on Miser.

Remove X coin counters from Miser: Spells you play this turn cost X less to play.

I just voted land but I would be more interested to see how Enchantment turns out. Enchantments are under printed and I think niche. If they went with enchantment they would probably have to make it do something that an enchantment normally wouldn't do to make it appeal to most players. Who would vote for a Rancor?

Another vote for land from me.

May be my bias, but the only enchantment I would like to see is some sort of Leyline, and I am hesitant to give dredge any toys.

Enchantment
Flash.
When Counterchant enters the battlefield, sacrifice it. If you do, counter target spell. This ability cannot be countered by spells or abilities.

Think about oath of druids, survival of the fittest or necropotence.

Mages gathering  {1} {U}/{R}
 {U}/{R} {X}: Play a instant or sorcery spell with CC X from your hand. Use this ability only as a sorcery.
{U}/{R}{U}/{R} {X}: Play a instant or sorcery spell with CC X from your graveyard. Use this ability only as a sorcery. You lose X life.

or

Rogues Guild 1{B}
At the beginning of each player's upkeep, that player discards a card at random. That player loses life equal to that discarded converted cost.

moar:

Intelligence barracks W
at the beginnin of your upkeep put a charge counter on Intelligence barracks.
Remove X charge counters: exile attacking creature with CC equal to X.

Just a quick note for those who might "nudge" the tally by more than one vote...88,700 total votes means that the .03% difference was 27 votes.

Let's say it takes 30 seconds to load an incognito window in Chrome, paste in the URL, and vote. This gives you an influence rate of something like .033%/min or 2%/hour. This means that anyone really committed to tipping the vote can do so in a fraction of an evening...just sayin'.

Cheating is cheating.  Just because you can get away with it doesn't mean it's not cheating.  I'm not sure if I should trust some of you folks next time I'm paired with you at a tourney...

I think none of those would see any Vintage play. Look at my list of proposed enchantments. Those are on the power level needed to see play in Vintage.

Not to prompt too deep a philosophical discussion, but the hard-coded rules appear to be "one cookie one vote." Generating a lot of different cookie receptacles is no different from using multiple devices or convincing your non-MtG-playing friends/family/acquaintances to vote. WotC may or may not screen for repeat votes from the same IP address. The point being that enforcement of the "rules" on a remote server implies that it's not possible to cheat, only to game the rules. Cheating would be something like hacking into WotC's servers and changing the tallies.

As for enchantments:
Play Fair W/G
Enchantment
Alternate costs cannot be paid. Mana costs cannot be modified. If a nonland permanent would produce mana, instead it does not. If a land would produce more than one mana, it instead produces one mana.

I still don't believe that the community at large is going to print a hate card for a niche format in lieu of doing something cool.  Most Magic players (who even know that Vintage is a format) don't care about Vintage.  Given that Shops exist solely in Vintage, I have yet to see where the demand for that card is.

It's not to say that something like that couldn't see print, but that I sincerely doubt that it would see print here, and is far more likely to see print in an actual set, not in a card created by the community.

This is still exploitative behavior.

I also have no interest in a card that reads "let's play a crappy version of Type 2," and "Let me dredge while I put my nuts on your chin."

I disagree in no way with that. That said, thorough abuse of it is the best way to get an IP address based filter used on the votes prior to tally to prevent minor "exploitation." In the case that they don't care, you get the outcome of your choice. In the case that they do care, you filter out a myriad of minor abuses.

A Modern combo deck just won GP Sandiego and combo decks consistently top8 in Legacy. Shutting down Rituals, Lotus Blooms, LEDs, Moxen, Shops, Elves, etc has a wide-ranging impact on the game that actually favors RUG-like strategies.

Dredge would lose the ability to use Flashback due to "Alternate costs cannot be paid."

So what?  Dread return is usually sided out g2 and 3 anyway.  Ichorid is a card.  I am willing to bet they are still faster than whatever you are playing with that enchantment on the table.

One mana 'hose every combo' card is nuts, but that is not what this card does.  It stops ramp (birds, hierarch), workshops, academy, gush, moxen, spheres, and countless others.

It does not stop rituals.

It makes for an uninteresting and boring game as long as that card is on the table.

Dredge decks don't even play dredge return anymore. Personaly, I'm voting enchantment, so there is less of a chance it is shop playable. Yes, I just hate shops that much.
