Its probably a little late to ask for advice as the tournament is tomorrow, but what deck would you play if you had an idea what the meta game would be.

Here is roughly what I am expecting:

1 Bomberman
1 Burning Tendrils
1 U/R Standstill
1 or 2 Dredge
2 Oath Decks
3 Workshop Decks
4 Grixis Decks

There will probably (hopefully) be more players than that but I would expect the percentages to stay about the same with a possible movement to there being more control decks.

At the moment I am leaning heavily towards Strix/Welder Grixis, are there certain cards I should favour over others with these match ups in mind?

Would playing 0 Dredge hate be a terrible idea?

Thanks for any help.

If there is little aggro in your meta, try BUG. Your opponents would be ill-prepared and you should get good results. with deathrite shaman and wastes you have some opportunities maindeck against dredge.

If you're expecting to see oath I'm not sure why you would go with no dredge hate.  Cage covers both decks.

If there is little aggro in your meta, try BUG. Your opponents would be ill-prepared and you should get good results. with deathrite shaman and wastes you have some opportunities maindeck against dredge.

How so this seems like a pretty typical meta except for the lack of fish decks.

I'd be playing a control deck, either bomberman or landstill, if that's what you except to see.

Doomsday would shred this meta.

My first tournament in this format, I think Doomsday would be too hard for me to play. I did look at it and it looks cool, but I think I am a long way from ready.

I have Grixis and Bomberman built, just need to pick.

Grixis is probably the easier of the two to play. Definitely more forgiving if you make mistakes along the way.

If dredge is only 1 deck, possibly 2, then having limited sideboard cards against them might be a good thing.  Conceding 1 match to improve 90% of the others seems like a reasonable tradeoff.

But yeah, grafdigger's cage is a pretty great card vs. oath, dredge, and anything that wants to tinker or yawg will.  It's not awful vs. forgemaster either.  But I play cage main in my MUD deck because I don't run forgemaster (i run slash panther).

If you're just getting back into the swing of things looking at that metagame I'd recommend UR Landstill.

Whoever (Xouman!) said to play BUG is right on the money.  That deck is easy to pilot so being away from the format for a while won't be a huge problem.  Deathrite is great against this field.  Trygon predator is also a nearly instant-win against this field.  Also you'll love Abrupt Decay (best anti-oath card since trygon).  So some kinda bug fish list with trygon, deathrite, bob, tarmogoyf, wastelands, FoW, spell pierce, etc. Looks like a lot of graveyard based strategies, actually, so something like surgical extraction in the board might be strong.

The big key is its a very strong archetype that has no representation in the meta, so hopefully people will be unprepared.

Also 2 dredge decks out of 12 total seems like a LOT of dredge to me.  So, yeah, bring your cages.
