Nice made video and good description of what makes the format so intense, Steven (and valuable promotion for your book on the road ). I didn't really like how often first turn kills were mentioned by Randy and the moderator. First turn kills don't appear that often in Vintage, the other way around: They are very rare. Serious things happen in the first two turns and you have to be prepared for that. Nevertheless I can't count the games I have played that last really long and went over many turns. This became even more true since winning fair has become a more reliable option.

Yeah, Randy didn't exactly go out his way to dispel some of the stereotypes about the format, but that's a small nit. His enthusiasm for the format was awesome. Randy is a great advocate for Vintage.
They really went out of their way to show how the finals was "fair."
I hope you watched the video after the credits.

I did. And it was more less presented that a creature battle final is pretty unbelievable in a format which is known for first turn kills. That doesn't make it much better. I am not even sure, where this stereotype comes from. From the Burning-Wish-Lion's-Eye-Diamond-Long-time? Has Belcher ever been really showing up that often? As long as I play, the best combo deck has neven been a first-turn-kill-deck.

I can only hope that people who think of Vintage that way watch the coverage: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLXvWVmmqyaqg9cOQAZb6OyhhF1fcRSHBbIf you want to promote Vintage, PLEASE SHARE the coverage vidoes. They are the best possible advertisement for the format imaginable. Frankly, I find them as compelling as anything on ESPN. That's why I hope Nick D puts serious consideration into video for the NYSE. Watching match coverage of actual matches is the only way to truly dispel the stereotypes about the format.

Quoted for truth. When I started playing heavily again this year, for the first time I was watching feature matches online and realized then what a full fledged sport the format has become.

Frankly, I find them as compelling as anything on ESPN. Yep, this was great to see. The stance from Randy was disappointing, especially since the opening is so deliberate, but in general, very solid.

Just watches a bunch of videos. Randy + Chris is a decent caster duo, but they do lack a bit of knowledge regarding vintage. Still happy with the coverage. Game2 of Cron vs. Donais was really good, a shame that Cron misplayed a bit in game3. Also, no coverage of any shop decks?
I'm watching Cron v. Donais now and all I have to say so far is that Kevin either needs a pair of nail clippers or some nail polish.

Randy and Chris are severely underestimating the creature decks. Randy notes on multiple occasions "It's just a merfolk deck, what is it gonna do?" Ditto. I think the general commentary acumen was good, but I'm kinda peeved that (1) recent format knowledge wasn't better and (2) the idea of vintage as a simplistic combo format was reinforced.
