It's that time again!  Check out my Vintage set review for Born of the Gods on Starcitygames.com.

Lots of neat deck lists and deck ideas packed in here:

The set has some interesting cards that may have an impact for Magic's oldest format.  What do you guys think will be the best Spirit of the Labyrinth deck moving forward?

Cheers,
Brian

Definitely a much longer article than I was expecting when I saw the title and very entertaining! Smile

I'm also relieved that my own thoughts on Spirit of the Labyrinth weren't that far off yours (I'd been thinking Esper Fish or Junk), even if my own deck-building skills are terribad. With Toxic Deluge existing though as probably the most efficient sweeper the format's ever seen (apart Balance maybe), are aggro-control decks on a hiding to nothing at the moment? Do you think a creature like Voice of Resurgence might become playable in those style of decks if Toxic gets played more heavily?

Also, although I appreciate these decklists are more sketches than anything else, I'm just curious if you played round with Enlightened Tutor at all in your Esper build, fetching Spirit and equipment and a push - and maybe with a sideboard Rip-Helm combo package à la Legacy? Too slow for Vintage?

Cheers for another great read anyway Brian. Always inspiring!

I was surprised to see no mention of Aphetto Alchemist in your discussion of Kiora's Follower.  Particularly in the deck list you posted, with oodles of artifact mana, wouldn't Alchemist just be flat out better?
