They also almost always draw it when they kill one of the characters as a little easter egg.

Anyways, could this have any application in workshops? I know people were discussing Coercive Portal at some point, and this card has some ups and downs compared to it or even staff of Nin. +2 power can be a big clock but the drawback is there.

In any event I like the design so even if it sees no play I do like the card.

It costs as much as Staff of Nin, does less, and part of the cost can't be paid by Workshop.  I'll pass, but I'd love to see people running stuff like this in wacky shop builds.

Probably the best comparison is SOFI, and this is way worse. Imagine

T1 golem
T2 Avarice amulet, equip. bolt on golem/chewer next turn. ooooohhhppssss

I like te idea and the flavour, but find it quite worse than portal or sofi
