Hi all. I have been asked to post this by Philipp as he is not a member here yet. I have sent him the information on how to join though so that should change in the next week or so.

It was fun to play against Phillip - really an excellent player and great guy. And a good write-up of his tournament. Incredible what he managed to pull off a week later in New Jersey...

There was a really low turnout for Vintage in Prague and I must admit, it feels like European Vintage is about to collapse, due to the apparent end of Bazaar of Moxen. Hopefully, I'm wrong and Phillip gets to try Vintage again. There's always GP Lille coming, but I suspect he will be busy with day two of the main event....

@Tito

what do you think about the Prague Eternal tournament? Is it well organised, nice place, etc?

Some LCV players are thinking on going there for the weekend in June, do some turism and be able to play in some Legacy and Vintage tournaments.

I know the prices are not fancy, but we donīt really care Smile)))))

I went there both times too play vintage, and I think it's a really great tournament! well organized, good location, good staff, shops and prague is a nice city, even though my team stayed most in the hotel doing some testing and preparing for the tourney. The site is just awesome, as Phillip also wrote in his article.

You should definitely come and support this event and support vintage in general from Spain(Barca) I highly recommend it Smile I know the prices are not as delicious as the ones they have at BoM, but if you already have the full set power9, dont you already have everything you need and is necessary and required for vintage? Very Happy

Thatīs why I said we would not care about prices as we would just come to enjoy a nice holiday time in Prague playing our favourite format Smile

With the disappearance of BoM as a sort of "European Championship", the only real options to go to play abroad are in Italy (Dday, Ovino). However, some of the Spanish players have gone to Milan in previous years and had a very bad experience.

Hi Peach,

It's funny what you say about Italy - I've not been myself, but I've heard other players say they didn't enjoying playing Vintage there either, which means despite those tournaments being established, it seems they might struggle to de facto become the "new BoM".

In that regard, I think Prague has a good chance to do so - as certainly, it's a great city and a pretty cheap and fun place to visit. Plus the TOs were really trying to put on a good event, get feedback from everyone and so on.

The site is amazing in some respects - it's a sort of medical conference centre, which is very luxurious with a great restaurant. But it's 1) In the middle of nowhere, really isolated on a sort of industrial estate and 2) Very small. It felt fine for this latest edition - but there were hardly any Vintage players compared to BoM. If 50, 60, 100, or more suddenly turn up, there won't be room and I'm not sure if the TOs have really thought about that possibility.

That said, it was a real shame none of the Spanish contingent were there! Be good to see more people travel out there. I hope even if it's not Prague, something happens to revive European Vintage. I'm scared that there is going to be a lot of attrition now that BoM no longer exists (although they say they're still trying to find a date...). The loss of such an annual focal point, plus the current prices of power and strength of the Dollar to the Euro, I think spells very bad times for European Vintage. I hope I'm wrong - but I can't imagine any "new BoM" being able to pull in 300 Vintage players any time in the near future...... :/

Not 100% sure if I'll be at Prague in June - I imagine that even a Vintage side event at GP Lille will attract more Vintage players tbh.

I have to echo the sentiments that Prague Eternal was an absolute blast. It was my only 2 Vintage tournaments ever, and despite doing really horribly, I really enjoyed the experience, never ever before have I been at a tournament with so many cool opponents, so if you live within reasonable distance I'd strongly recommend going there.

Also, it was really funny to see Philipp become more excited after each round of Vintage as we were exchange our stories from last round.
