Did Wayne England back out?  I noticed the number of artists dropped from 8 to 7 and he's not listed anymore.

There will be at least 472 participants tomorrow, making this the biggest modern Vintage tournament.  Incredible work by Nick Coss and all his staff.  If you're here, I hope you're ready for 10 rounds of Swiss...

Great event!  (My first Vintage Champs in years).

Great work Brian!  I would imagine that anyone that has ever played against Brian cannot be anything but thrilled for him and to have him as the pinnacle representative of Vintage!

-- Also, would greatly appreciate a central location where bye-earning tournaments would be publicized.  Would be nice to know that in advance and plan to attend them.

Thanks!

I didn't see all the matches (only the dredge match, and part of the finals). But AURIOK SALVAGERS took down the event, yes?
Awesome!

Also congrats to Rich Shay for making top eight with SHOPS!

I'm glad an interesting deck took the top spot. Cool to see commanding proof that the format still has room for some innovation.

Also, the amount of shops decks in the top 32 is disgusting.

Wow. Congrats to Brian, I'm eager to see the lists.

And specially congrats to the organizers, it's weird to see Europe losing lots of Vintage players and how you are growing at a good pace. #Envy

Obv best deck is obv. Not like anything would happen anyway.

Congrats to Brian Kelly on taking it down and congrats to the other t8 competitors of course. The coverage was great, Buehler and Maher did a great job and some of the feature matches blew my mind (some really amazing lines and some really terrible plays, really felt like a best of Vintage). I enjoyed it a lot even though some rounds had too much air (we need MORE feature matches next year Smile).

Anyway, great tournament, great coverage and congrats to all the winners and on breaking another record (next year we go for 500 competitors, don't we?).

Number of decks running workshop in the top 32 11.  Number of decks running dig through time in the top 32 15.  Just saying.

Congrats to Kelly for sticking to his guns on that Oath list.

EDIT:
So the actual broadest breakdown of the top 32 is I think 19 Blue decks 11 Workshops 2 Dredge.  Yes the blue decks were split between some random stuff, a fair amount of delver/mentor tempo, and a fair amount of bomberman.  By my count the total number of archetypes in the top 32 was > 10 and included 5 distinct shops variants.

Seems like a pretty healthy format to me.

Congrats to Brian Kelly for a much deserved victory. This guy has put so much of his time and energy into Vintage Magic the past few years (both online and offline, he has played this format relentlessly) and loves the format more than anyone else I've met.

I had a feeling several months ago when I played against his newly styled Oath deck on Cockatrice that he had something special and would win a big tournament with it, but when I talked to him outside the Convention Center on Sunday between rounds and saw how bubbly and effervescent he was, after I wished him "Good Luck" I just knew, somehow, that he was destined to win it all.

Congrats, Brian - Couldn't have happened for a nicer guy!  I think its great to see someone win who isn't afraid to experiment with deck building, and isn't afraid to take his Frankenstein's monster of a deck to battle in Vintage's biggest event.

I had a great time.  Thank you to all of my opponents and Vintagemagic.com teammates for helping me put together another great run for the title.  I can't wait to try again next year.

The pattern continues - the person that takes me out of the tournament wins it all yet again.  Coincidence? I think not...

big big big ups to Brian Kelly. Can't think of a more deserving victor. Probably the hardest-working, most talented, and most innovative Vintage specialist today. Congratulations!

i was really happy the finals wasnt dredge vs shops.  i loved watching bob on coverage, good analysis and stories.  gratz to our new vintage world champion, brian kelly.

anyone else feel robert scooped early game 1?  maybe all his outs were inaccessable, or he know brian would have too many counters to overcome.  notion theif mirror was fun to watch.

im also interested in danny bettermans peoples cannon list.

Thank you to everyone for the congrats and to Nick Coss and Card Titan staff for a great event, to Calvin Hodges & BMG for helping out with getting power for the event, and to Matt Murray whose run to the convenience store for Iced Teas and Waters before the finals was indispensable.  The Vintage community is uniquely awesome and once again lived up to and beyond its reputation.  I had an unforgettable time.

The event looked fantastic on coverage - even when people were playing in the dark. 13 rounds of awesome, with everything anyone could want (except not a Doomsday on camera, boo...) And I was glad that the Shops mirrors look like they are getting more interesting to watch.

Mad props to the winner - Brian's deck looked sick. Also glad that Dredge didn't win (even if it provided one of the more entertaining games against Shops.)

Also, it looked a lot more 'hands off' from a Judging perspective than the legacy event. That's typically a good thing...

Great event to go to and see all the cool decks (and Power haha). Really eye-opening to see the diversity of the format. While I performed poorly and basically got smooshed each match (haha) it leaves me wanting to play more Vintage! Only way to get good at something is to first be bad at it.

The coverage was also really good, Bob's stories were the best. And I agree: next year have a second (or third or fourth) camera in the feature match area. I'll be the voice of dissent and say I wanted Sullivan and his endless ranks of the dead to take it all (NYSE and Champs? Is it too late to vote him PotY? haha), but was extra sad when we didn't really get a story as to what happened during his Top 4 match against Robert. Ah well.

Top shelf all around. Will 100% attend next year!
