The Eternal Spotlight for 7/3/2015 -  http://puremtgo.com/articles/eternal-spotlight-tuesdays-soly

This week I interviewed Soly, and he had some interesting things to say  Smile. I had a good time with this article, and I hope everyone likes it as well.

Topics of discussion include: Mulligan's, the new mulligan rule, sideboard choices (spoiler: I love Containment Priest).

In the article, there is an exercise in making mulligan decisions. I present a scenario that includes a hypothetical seven-card hand, and I ask the readers if they would keep it or ship it.

Thanks for checking this out, comments are welcomed.

Great article.  Soly's suggestions for Vintage are 100% on point.

Thank you very much. I sure will! I plan on adding videos as soon as I can get a better computer. As is, the only way I can make videos is to lower the resolution to a point that makes it unacceptable to include in a video. It's too bad, I had a few sample videos that included some great plays.

I'm glad you're enjoying the content. Personally I like written articles a lot, but I know that many people are more into videos and streaming.

Next week I have a new deck to write about. It is an interesting list for sure!

Big up to your articles. This was a very nice read, and good interview. I like the historical highlights also a lot, good research.

The hand is blind a sure keeper, against Delver I guess, that everything without Chalice 1 or turn 2 big tank (Hellkite, Wurmcoil, Batterskull) is bad, espacially on the draw.

I actually prefer written articles and podcasts. I watch too many things for work to want more video content in my life hahaha. I can barely deal with VSL when it's on.

More podcasts about Vintage would be great.

Well, Magic Origins is fully spoiled so I say we are due for a SMIP podcast soon!

I don't think it's a strong hand, but it's acceptable. I wanted to open up a dialogue about the way people conscientiously think about what hands to keep and why.

I remember one event in particular where I chose to keep a very similar hand, thinking that my chances of drawing one more lock piece "in time" (turn one or two), then I'd be in good shape. I ended up not getting it, and going on to lose.

I'm glad to hear that other people wanted to keep the hand too, I think it was passable and better than a random six.

Other people have commented on Reddit and Facebook, so it seems like enough people liked this segment that I can do another one.

If anyone has anything they'd like to see, you can always leave feedback. It's very helpful to know what parts people enjoy, and what parts they're indifferent about.

Thought the same thing when I read the article.

A workshop, a turn one lock piece and another one to follow up + 1 mana away from the forgemaster if the sphere sticks. How is that not a Snap keep? Idk that hand isn't ridiculous but it's within or slightly above the average hand scope for Martello (taking out any Matchup dependent considerations). Not every hand is going to have turn one Shop Mox, lodestone + Chalice into turn 2 tangle.
I understand shops have to mulligan aggressively some times, but I don't think you should mulligan a hand that has a workshop, 2 lock pieces and a game ending threat.

How about I come up with a more challenging question next time?  Very Happy Thanks for reading and commenting.

Great article, enjoyed it a lot!

About the hand, it's an easy keep for me. On the draw, you can have an idea if you expect a waste or not. You don't even need to play workshop in front, factory + mox let's play sphere or revoker depending on what you have seen. And then you can strike with revoker and factory, independent with the rest of the cards drawn.

Sundering is not really alive at this point, but with another mws would be. Kuldotha is not really awesome with this starting hand but any new draw would improve it. Few mulligans to 6 would be better than this hand.
