Failure to provide adequate proxies will result in a warning or game loss should a judge need to be called. I hate to be so harsh on this, but a lot of players put a lot of time and effort into making their decks and expect some effort from their opponents. If you have any questions regarding your proxies please approach myself or one of the other organizers or judges and have us check them before the tournament starts.

Update original post as it turns out that the original date had a conflict.

You must be talking about a different Mox. Me and Bill Copes have already agreed to a prize split on this one. Also the second place prize. And somehow also 3rd-8th prizes also. And Craig's dignity.

If the attendees of this event play Magic as well as they trash talk you might as well just give me that mox right now Craig. Saves everybody the time and cuts out the middle man.

While I don't agree about giving you the prize, the trash talking has been rather lack luster......gotta get some oscar the grouch up in here.

So as far as proxies go, I don't have the materials to blank a card, and I obviously can't do my usual slips of paper, so is it preferable to:
use sharpie on a basic land for everything
or
to find a card with as much relevant information matching, and strikethrough/replace everything else with relevant text For example, take a random 1U sorcery, strikethrough the name and card text, and fill in everything for time walk

We talked about the proxy stuff at the shop last night but for everyone else's benefit, I would say that Basic lands are the optimal choice. And if possible use basics that would not normally be in your deck. (ie: don't use islands in a blue deck).

I'll be there with the Myriad crew. Looking forward to this. Just a comment on proxies, more of a request. If you are using proxies, please don't use the same land/card to represent more than 1 specific card. Example, don't use forests for 5 different proxies.

I will only use basic lands that are the same basic lands I'm running in my deck.

I'm not sure how feasible that is for a ten to fifteen proxy allowed event. What I ended up settling on was using the appropriate basic land for each of the moxen I'm proxying, and then I used plains for the rest, since the white text box and often less-cluttered art made it a little easier to see what card it was proxying. I did do my best to make a reasonable sharpie facsimile of the art on my proxies though. Granted, I'm a terrible artist, but I think I did a reasonable job, and I'm at least not showing up with ten identical basic lands with nothing to distinguish them but scribbled text
