I'm building an Oath list with 4x Thirsts For Knowledge as a draw engine. I was going to go straight Emrakul+ Blightsteel (to discard to Thirst For Knowledge and help minimize bad RNG), but now I'm wondering if I want to drop one of those for a Grislebrand. I'm using full acceleration + Tinker, 4 Planes walkers, and 1 Gaea's Blessing.
Does any one have suggestions as far as which oath target to drop, if at all?
Thanks in advance,
John

Thirst surely helps recovering golden gun oath. With thirst you can drop the monster in the grave, but also Dragon Breath. That being said, Emrakul has worse interaction with thirst (cannot be the only target to be discarded) and cannot be fetched by tinker, but on the other side cannot be stolen by Fayden and once it attacks, it's kinda deffinitive, while BSC can be blocked one turn and answered next turn with minimal loses.

It is also of note that Emrakul requires you to shuffle it and your entire graveyard into your library vs. Blightsteel which only makes you shuffle himself into the library.

Not the end of the world, but if your dragonbreath is in the grave when Emrakul goes in, you lost your set up.

Why not Brian Kelly's Champs package?  Surely bomberman has a lot of synergies with Thirst.

I've played with GG Oath a little bit, and it can be pretty busted for sure. The thing is, you really want to win the turn you Oath if possible, or at least seal the deal.

The last thing you're going to want is to Oath into Auriok Salvagers with nothing to do with it at that point. Salvagers has a place, but I'd be sure to test this out a lot before making a decision.

I personally would play a more defensive version using two salvager and one magus of the moat as my three targets. This lets you open up Tinker and the two dragon breaths as other options.

Isnt thirst restricted?  I'm just getting back into the game after a long lay off, but pretty sure thirst is restricted these days from the B&r list I was looking at. Maybe it was an old one?

*nevermind - just read in another thread that thirst has been unrestricted.  But where is the B&r list that reflects this? I was looking at the one on the wizards of the coast site and it still lists thirst as restricted.

Just a follow up. I've ended up going with Sphinx, Blightsteel, and Griselbrand for targets. This way I can always Tinker or Oath. I also put two Tezzerets in the list instead of Jaces for an alternate win in case I get hit with Cage. So far I like it.

Abrupt decay is nice in oath lists. I think it alone justifies the inclusion on underground sea, but then you realize that black also adds demonic (and possibly vampiric or will), which is nice.

I'm assuming you mean Sphinx of the Steel Wind but have you considdered Consecrated Sphinx?  It can't be Tinkered for but is easier to cast.  I also really think that Dragonlord Dromoka is the most important Oath piece right now.  Blue heavy metas seem weak to it and especially Thirst/Drain decks since there plan is to cast spells on your turn.  It can also be cast and has lifelink so that could replace the need for Sphinx of the Steel Wind.  I have no results outside of Vintage champs to back what I am saying of course but Dromoka just seems too important vs blue to not look at.  I don't think I've seen an Oath list run Consecrated Sphinx with notable success yet but With Thirst unrestricted I'm pretty sure it's only a matter of time.  It gets right into Drain decks anyway so why not put it into Oath?
