"Last week I went over the results from the last Power Nine Challenge, and I talked about the oversized representation of Mishra's Workshop decks in the top sixteen spots. In the comments section one of my readers asked me for a few tips on how to deal with Workshop decks. Often times players who are new to Vintage tell me that they've had trouble playing against Workshops, and I think discussing how to approach that matchup is an important resource for a new player."

That's it in a nutshell. Enjoy.

Nice!

It's a topic well worth exploring, and you braved Andy's blockade to post it here. Great work!

"I fully believe that if Dredge could play a transformational sideboard it would just win all the tournaments yet it just doesn’t have one because there is just nothing that it can play. It’d be awesome to completely ignore all those very specific hate cards people bring against you but how are you going to do that?" - Paulo Vitor Damo da Rosa

Thank you very much, I really appreciate that. I had to try to find a balance between providing lots of useful information for beginners and not having so much information that people would lose interest. Since switching to MTGGoldfish I've shortened the average length of my work. Most folks on TMD seem to enjoy a healthy read, I know I finish shorter articles very quickly myself. A lot of people don't like to read long articles though, and I don't want to turn potential players off by publishing a weekly encyclopedia.

I also tried to focus on tips that would work for most decks, but after I published it I realized that non "blue" decks have some very different things going on. Fetching basic lands isn't a viable technique when you're playing Dredge, for example. If someone does ever ask me anything about Dredge, I'll just point them to TMD and your (AJ) really cool video series.  Wink

Thanks again for the kind words. I hope that this article gives new players enough tools to keep playing Vintage instead of getting frustrated and quitting.

A little update, I had a reader email me to say that they had finally won several matches against shops since reading this article. That was really cool.
Thanks to Thomas Dixon, Stefan Ellsworth, Neils Thiim, all who gave input and suggestions for this.
