So he can ask the judge: what is the name of the 5/3 trampler with the ability "Whenever this is put into a graveyard from play, return this to owner´s hand" that costs 2 ?? And the judge will have to respond? I said the judge shouldn´t answer this. It´s your own bloody fault. If the card's description is sufficiently explicit then the judge must respond to your question, and even if the we (or the judge) can't give the card's name the description is sufficiently explicit to consider that we gave the name of this card (here : Weatherseed Treefolk)

Yes it was sanctioned. If I am correct, only 50 out of 350 people were unpowered, so I don't think that is a valid argument. 145 players were unpowered in this tournament 246 players were powered I'll wait until I see the breakdown before commenting further, but I believe this was a sanctioned tournament? thus no proxies, which means that many players were (probably) playing less-powered or unpowered decks because they had no choice... which totally changes the metagame from a 5 or 10-proxy tournament like SCG or Waterbury...
but we'll see when he posts the breakdown...
I post the breakdown next sunday, because I must read all the 391 lists

On a whole different note. This is by far the largest T1 event in the last couple of years (if I remember correctly). The T32 decklists define the current meta game imho. Posting these here seems the least the organizers can do for the community (except for organizing that beautifull thingy).
Fisrt, I post the Top8. I will post the Top32 later (today or tomorrow). <bitch mode on> and I really hate it that my pre-registration wasn't confirmed<bitch mode off>

I send you a mail from my gmail box the 17th April 2005 to redirect you towards a web site ( http://wizards-registration.com).

Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Phyrexian Furnace in Salvagers
|
on: April 28, 2005, 04:39:17 pm

The question is this:
If you get an early Furnace out, should you eat a card a turn to keep their graveyard in check or should you leave the yard so when you go off, you can draw out your deck?
When I play an early Furnace, I eat a card per turn. This action can make you win the game against decks like Slaver, Dragon (by eating Squee and Dragon), ... When you go off, you eating your graveyard to draw.

Eternal Formats / Creative / Landstill, taking a 2nd look.

IMO, Landstill depends on Standstill soo much to assert board control that the Brainstorms simply seem like a necessity. If you need a standstill Imlpulse is better to find the Standstill because you search deeper in your deck and you doesn't "lose" two draw with Impulse (you lose 2 draw with brainstorm because 2 cards from your hands go on the top of your library) I say it another time Impusle is better in Landstill than Brainstorm (I have said that 10 time minimum and I have test Landstill with Brainstorm -without Impulse- and with Impulse -without Brainstorm-)

Draw Engine 4xStandstill 4xBrainstorm 1xTime Walk 1xAncestral Recall
Brainstorm is with out a doubt one of the most pertinant additions to Landstill lists. The deck is at a massive deficit for first turn drops in comparison to every other control deck in the format. Far too often you are left completely inactive on your first turn of play, and this is simply not exceptable in a T1 control deck. Brainstorm accomplishes a number of things in the deck. Like Slavery, Landstill requires its draw engine to establish itself on the board, otherwise the deck will run out of steam. With out the Standstill, your left at the mercy of HULKS brokenness in the Control mirror. Unlike Tog, your deck is required to function around maximum synergy instead of "going broken." With Brainstorm, you increases your chances of establishing an early Standstill significantly and can now circumvent Duress with greater ease. Why play 5 Ancestrals when you can play 9?
[...]
SB options seem to be changing quite a bit. Annul and Null Rod have become increasingly popular and most U/w builds run Meddling Mages and Serenity in the SB. For me, DoJs and Balance are best left in the board.
Well, in a nut shell those are my thoughts on the deck. I think Brainstorm goes a very long way in improving the decks synergy and consistancey, and I am all ears for your opinions of the card in Landstill. I think Impulse is better in Landstill because you can see deeper in your deck with it , it's just my opinion on this point. In my opinion,it's better for the Control match-up because you can find faster your Strips or drawer (often Standstill) For the sideboard you can take : Disenchant or Serenity (depends of the meta-game) CotV Balance maybe Maze of Ith (Tog, Aggro Shop) I don't think Meddling Mage is a good option for this deck because the opponent can often deal with it

Subaru: I like the idea of extra card drawing or filtering (Impulse) but very often I've felt like I need more "real" card drawing; have the 3 Impulse been working well? I only ran 2 when I tested, but I had to cut them for more space. The Impulse is fine in this deck because you can search more deeper in your deck with it. The you can find a problem's solution faster. My draw engine (1 Tral, 1 Walk, 3 Decree, 4 Standstill, 1 Tef Resp, 3 Impulse, 1 LoA, sometimes Fire/Ice) work very well, I never have a problem with it. PS : Sorry for my english if this isn't good.

Has anyone using U/W landstill tried wrath of god? It's casting cost might be to much at 2WW, but it could clear the board of creatures a whole turn faster than Nev. Disk. Wrath of Good costs too much in the current metagame. Besides UW Landstill has Swords, Balance and Nevyn vs Aggro. With test I saw we don't need other cards vs Aggro (I play UWr Landstill, my list is the 3rd of this TOP8)
