Heya, Check this preview out: This card looks great with Bloodgast. My question is though, what to get rid of? Does Dredge want to slim down its dredgers even more? At first, I thought of maybe getting rid of Ichorid, but Ichorid is nice to have in certain matchups. So, could he maybe replace (heresey!) Narcomoeba? He hacan be pitched for Ichorids, he's not dead like Narco if he's in your opening hand, and he pitches to Unmask and Contagion. How can this guy fit in? Peace, -Troy

Bloodghast isn't a Zombie, right? So no synergy with this card.

I have serious doubts about this guy fitting into Dredge at all. I think the biggest problem is that you need mana to be able to cast him which requires having a non-Bazaar land, where as the rest of the ENTIRE deck can operate just with a Bazaar. IMO that rules this guy out because one of Dredge's biggest strengths is that it doesn't need mana to play spells, creatures, threats etc...Dredge already has to worry about mulling to a Bazaar and now adding the requirement of needing a land that produces mana, not to mention needing to have a zombie already in play, just goes against what the deck wants to do. I think because of his mana requirement he also slows down Dredge and he can also be Missteped; although that isn't necessarily a big deal but it could buy your opponent an extra turn. This guy won't be making it into any of my Dredge lists anytime soon.... Edit: Bloodghast isn't a Zombie, right? So no synergy with this card.
Yes he is Vampire Spirit, so ONLY a triggered Bridge activation will make this guy even be castable.... Which makes it less playable than it might have been...

I guess I should have been more specific. You drop your Undiscovered Paradise, get two Bloodghasts out of your GY and then cast this dude. That's your three creatures for Dread Return.

That scenario seems really narrow when you take into account Bazaar activations and having to mulligan for a Bazaar....

Card looks amazing in other formats, but I just can't see it in Dredge. It already has a place in my cube, but I'll happily predict nearly zero Vintage play.

The issue is Fatestitcher. Fatestitcher also wants that Undiscovered Paradise mana and is much better.
Even post board I would rather have Fatestitcher.

That's what occurred to me when I first saw this card, but I have a very hard time seeing this card actually making the cut in Dredge. Ashen Ghoul is the same cost to recur, ignores Sphere effects, has haste, probably an easier to achieve condition and is a 3/1 and that card hasn't been playable in years. Not to mention cards that actually DO get played in Dredge like Fatestitcher and Ichorid. The only advantage I can really envision is that it's easier to play from hand, but I don't think that's enough.

Playing from the hand is good and also Ashen Ghoul has that number of creatures on top requirement which is annoying.
Another issue is that this guy can be played multiple times per turn. Are there any cards that give you mana whenever a creatuers comes into play (Lotus Cobra of creatures?)
Seems sick with Skullclamp, but you need that Zombie.
Phyrexian Altar gives mana every time you sac a creature so these two and Bridge is infinite creatures.

...still way too much work for a Dredge deck IMO.

Great card for dredge post-sideboard. You can just cast it from hand, and keep pressure on, next turn bloodghast, thug, narcomoeba, or confidant. I used carnophage in his place with a very attacking sideboard, and most hate just flat out missed me. With all the fetches, force, mental mistep, confidant, and fast bond, getting 2 damage consistely every turn can be a big up. With Cage being so house dredge will need some new tricks. Just take out Troll and other useless cards and go straight up aggro.
Here's a side I've been using with Gravecrawler
4 Gravecrawler 4 Dark confidant 4 Vampire hexmage 2 Dark depths 2 Urborg, Tomb of yawgmoth
I play fatestitcher dredge and consistently win game 1 on turn 1 or 2. Here's a funky sideboard I been using and have gone 6-1 with. It's not the best but I've had luck in two forms. 1st, Fatestitcher dredge wins so fast they can't get a bead on the deck, 2nd they mull into 4-5 cards looking for hate, that will miss
Side 4 Dryad Arbor (attacks for one and cabal therapy target, blocks factory and fuels bridge, also keeps confidant away thus eating life) 3 Green Sun's Zenith (gets dryad arbor) 4 Reverent Silence (hits oath,F-bond and multiple leylines, but gives opponent huge boosts in life, also FREE) 4 Nature's Claim

Has anybody thought about utilizing this with Zombie Infestation? These + Skull Clamp + Zombie Infestation could be fun (tier 3, but fun).

I much prefer Vengeful Dead/Diregraf Captain + Phyrexian Alktar + Gravecrawler for infinite life loss lulz. Plus, you get to use 5 DT-effects (DT and 4 Diabolic Intent)
