Hello all, and welcome to the announcement of the century.  April 22nd, Scholars is going old school.  Now this may be too cool for many of you fools, but we're going full blown sanctioned, zero proxy for one night only.  That's right, bring out your real cards and sling spells with the big boys.  Those of you who are going to complain, feel free to exit to the left with the standard players.  Now that they're gone, time to talk about some EPIC DUELS!  This is for the people who are truly invested in Vintage, and want to have a chance to play sanctioned more than once a year.  Oh, and since we're going big, we're upping the ante.  $20 entry fee, with prizes to the Top 4.  What's that add up to with 16 people you ask?  Over $426 in store credit in the pool!  That doesn't add up you say?  That's way more than is paid in from the entry fees.  Of course you'd catch that, you're straight up WIZARD.  The prizes are sick because Scholars bonuses the crap out of the prize pool, way beyond the entry fees.  Take a look at the following breakdown:

For a 16 person event:
   Credit   Cash
1st   170.67   121.6
2nd   128   91.2
3rd   85.33   60.8
4th   42.67   30.4

Now you're seeing that you can also choose cash as an option.  Pretty useful, since I'll be there with a sick selection of the goodness you need to keep up your rep as a formidable spell slinger.

For those of you who don't know Scholars:

Scholars has been supporting Vintage in New England for as long as I can remember.  They are the site of my first Vintage tournament (I was playing with Miracle Grow in 2001)

Located at:
Scholar's Bookstore
34 Central Sq
Bridgewater, MA
Phone: (508) 279-1712

Google Maps Directions

Ample parking in rear.

$20 entry fee
zero proxy sanctioned Vintage

I will be there . . . with a slightly diluted deck!

This is coming up fast.  It's also your only chance to beat Bill Copes in a game of Magic.  Rumor has it he will be running a Shops list with the only lands being Islands of Wak-Wak.

So how did it go?  How many people?  What sort of decks were in the room?  Who won?  Inquiring minds want to know...

It was 8 players, and I believe it was Josh Clayton (Stax) defeating Craig Masley (Golden Gun Oath) in the 2-0 bracket to take 1st and 2nd.

This is correct.  Other decks that were present included:

Eric D: Esper Bomberman
Adrian B: Counter Top
Jessie M : TPS
Bill Copes: Shops
Warren: ECW - ish
Kyle D : Shops
