The fatal flaw in that that it leaves my deck at the mercy of being able to draw Reanimate instead of just putting one on top of my library. So now - I not only have to Draw Hermit Druid, I also need Reanimate.
The way the deck is built now, all I need is a Druid and sufficient mana to cast it and use it on turn two. This doesn't just mean LED, but includes combinations of moxen, and other cards.

No it doesnt. With Reanimates replacing the Lion's Eye, if you dont have the reanimate you can still:
turn 1 hermit, turn 2 activate, and reclaim animate dead, turn 3 win instead of 2.
Now realize that this is IF you dont have the reanimate... if you do it works on turn 2, same as before.
turn 1 hermit, turn 2 activate, reanimate, win.
If you substitute Lions Eye Diamond in for Reanimate, you have the same turn 2 vs turn 3 situation... except you lose your hand.
Thats the point people are making... both can create a turn 2 kill, a turn 3 kill is still possible without them. So why use the one that that kills your hand? (and will probably end up restricted anyway).
