Yes I did miss that.  But it wasn't absolutely clear for his post.  The fatal flaw in that that it leaves my deck at the mercy of being able to draw Reanimate instead of just putting one on top of my library.  So now - I not only have to Draw Hermit Druid, I also need Reanimate.

The way the deck is built now, all I need is a Druid and sufficient mana to cast it and use it on turn two.  This doesn't just mean LED, but includes combinations of moxen, and other cards.

No it doesnt.  With Reanimates replacing the Lion's Eye, if you dont have the reanimate you can still:
turn 1 hermit,  turn 2 activate, and reclaim animate dead, turn 3 win instead of 2.
Now realize that this is IF you dont have the reanimate... if you do it works on turn 2, same as before.
turn 1 hermit, turn 2 activate, reanimate, win.

If you substitute Lions Eye Diamond in for Reanimate, you have the same turn 2 vs turn 3 situation...   except you lose your hand.
Thats the point people are making... both can create a turn 2 kill, a turn 3 kill is still possible without them. So why use the one that that kills your hand? (and will probably end up restricted anyway).

I think your parenthetical answers your own question.

I don't.

You don't have Spoils of the Vault in your deck, and that's probably going to be restricted.

That's because Spoils is not going to get restricted.

Are you saying the DCI is going to go against a practice of restricting all good tutors that have 1cc (and with good reason)? Or do you know something I don't?

In any case, you're just avoiding the fact that it makes no sense to run a card simply because it's going to be restricted. Especially when the deck getting it restricted...isn't this one.

Another direction you can take is to go with the Psychatog version I was working on a few months ago. The premise is similar to the typical Hermit deck but a little more suicidal. Here's the idea:

Play--
2x Gaea's Blessing
4x Shallow Grave
4x Corpse Dance
4x Psychatog

Activate Hermit;
Animate Psychatog in response to the Blessing effect;
Remove everything but an important card (Berserk?) to 'Tog;
Let Blessing resolve (reshuffling the one card left);
Attack with a phat 'Tog.

While certainly not a better combo it does think outside the box and maybe someone else can think of a way to expand this.
