I will win. Just watch.
The problem is, Brian, you are completely predictable. It is obvious you are going to play Control Slaver. Therefore, I will be prepared to beat you. *I* on the hand, play a new deck at every tournament. Rich Shay, Andy Probasco, and several others play same deck all the time, and it appears to me that a quality deck played by an experience player can often overcome opponents preperation. However, properly guessing and preparing for the metagame is perhaps the most advantagous situation that you can put yourself in when entering any tournement. That's only becuase their opponents aren't sufficiently prepared/good. I'm not being facetious.

I've won five different pieces of power in the past four months playing five completely different decks. And as for my deck choice for the side event, you many want to check the Vintage forum; I just wrote a huge primer for 3cc.
Perhaps we could play a match before the tournament. And if you are up to it I have a specific friendly wager in mind. Let me know.
Also, Steve, just so you know I'm having fun with this, and think that it is quite hilarious; hopefully you are in the same mindset and not actually pissed off about this friendly trash talking.

God people, I am not retired. Just because I traded a bunch of shiny cardboard for a new life doesn't mean I won't be defending my title.
You guys have it all wrong... it's going to be something close to this:
Steve is going to go X-0 again, or X-1 to secure another Meandeck member a top 8 slot. Then he's going to get beat down by Juggernaut again in the Top 8 and I won't have to play him.
I am going to personally look over Brian's deck regestration to make sure he writes down every card in his deck so that he doesn't get multiple match losses due to registering multiple Mox Sapphires. With my help here, I think he might make Top 8 as well.
As for me, well, I'm going to sneak into the Top 8 again due to sheer luck, like last year. Then, I will refuse to lose, like last year. Of course, I need to get just as lucky, because as everyone knows I didn't win because I am good at Magic. I look forward to adding another painting to my wall.
This is all in fun. Michigan v Meandeck for life!

Well I am not shy, I am bringing BENdrils in full force (thats right, I have stolen meandeck tendrils and made it my own.) This deck was made for me and I intend to win the bye with it.
Well Windfall, if you are really coming, I look forward to seeing you again. Too bad I couldnt be there last year when we were more closely affiliated.
And I refuse to be part of this state vs meandeck fight... I am a ronin, and I dont have anyone's back. In the immortal words of Anthrax... BRING THE NOISE!!!!

If life permits, I will attend although I have no clue what I am playing. It will probably depend on how much I drink/ smoke the night before and how much sleep I have in me. Combo with a hangover is utter garbage. But no one has to worry because I will go X-0 for the first 4 rounds, get two unintentional draws to play errors and then lose the last round of swiss due to complete savagery like I have at every major tournament outside of Michigan. But if I drop and play in side events I'll have fun.
Brian:Â were going to make the head judge look over your decklist ahead of time to prevent this: 1 mox sapphire 1 mox jet 1 mox ruby 1 mox emerald 1 mox pearl 1 mox sapphire......
and this:
Total sideboard cards:Â 14
Mark:Â As long as you don't play me in the swiss you should be fine.
Ben: Please don't bring Goldschlager........ I'll be forced to partake. In fact, you are the only person remotely big/ tough enough to forcibly keep me from drinking so please do so.Â
Steve and Kevin:Â I have no intention of talking trash especially since I am a stand in for my team, but I wish you the best of skill and the worst of luck.Â
Justin:Â Start making popcorn now cause you will be watching from the sidelines starting round 3.Â

Unintentional draws go well with being the slowest player ever. I haven't had an unintentional draw in nearly 6 months. Take a guess when it was. 2/28 against none other than you, Josh. Clearly that Dark Side of the force isn't working too well for you.

Actually, Justin, the dark side is just self destructive hence the losses and draws due to hangovers and lack of sleep. Each major tournament we have been at together you showed up at least partially well rested while I showed up with tequila in my stomach from the night before. I still posted a better record, but....
The reason you haven't had an unintentional draw is because you were playing deathlong.... you don't draw. You probably lose, but when you aren't losing you draw the nuts and win a few.

How little you know. I haven't had a draw across all formats. That's 23 sanctioned tournaments, plus a few unsanctioned ones. You draw in nearly every tournament you play in. Remember the Mox Sapphire tournament? You know, the one with the software that was fine unless someone drew. Remember who drew in round 2, thereby causing all the pairings to be done by hand for the rest of the tournament. Also, drawing with combo isn't especially hard. I can recall a mutual friend of ours who had two draws at Chicago with Long, which, by his own admission, he got because he was unable "to play fast enough to lock in before time." How many times did you go to time on Monday with TPS?

I had two unintentional draws with DeathLong at SCG chicago in April. It kept me out of top 8 for sure. As for the goldschlager, dont worry, I wont be bringing any, I will be drinking the same thing I was drinking out in front of your house the day before SCG in april... Southern Comfort Black Label. As for playing combo hungover with no sleep... do you remember Columbus? I played deathlong when I had been up for 40 hours and drank almost half a bottle of jager the night before. It was FOOD, not lack of sleep or hangover, that was my downfall, and drawing into 9th place is hardcore. Ben

Godamnit Franklin, maybe if you didn't draw so much you could be on that good team, Meandeck, like Jdizzle. Instead you have to settle for playing with that other team that won worlds last year, sucks to be you...
However, sometimes going to time can be amazing, for instance when you've won game one, or also, when you can't actually win game three.

Oh look, Josh F. has finally started posting here, and he has the audacity to talk trash to those that are actually GOING to the tournament! Hehehe... but I must say, some of this is pretty good. Justin: Start making popcorn now cause you will be watching from the sidelines starting round 3. Wins. Mark: As long as you don't play me in the swiss you should be fine. You have a point here, but I must say that I will be keeping hands with mana sources in them, something you seemed to have trouble doing in Chicago...

Yeah, but not only do you have to be able to beat Slaver, but you have to be able to beat Stax as well. Goblin Welder is so damn  'unfun.' Why don't they just ban it already? j/k, long live the little red guy!

Yes, I did lose to it that one time when I was playing Stax against you and mulled to three in that one time walk tourney. But other than that, I don't recall EVER losing to Dragon.

no?
we will leave it at that then.
You know whats funny? in like 8 months of playing at the same place and both doing well, I think we only played each other two or three times.
Yeah and that mull to 3 was all about bazaar squee squee. That wasnt your fault.
Also, dragon used to be good against stax. Oh how times have changed.

But officially, I conceded to you so you could play on, so I guess that counts... weird, because the thing was, neither one of us really played slow....

I went down there with my good ol' Stax deck and was surprised to see all the Stax at a no proxy event. Needless to say, my metagame call was brutal... I was doing OK until I met that luck sack Franklin For those of you who don't know me, I was the guy with the Pac-Man artwork on his binder. Glad to have finally put faces to a lot of you. Pac
