I find it incredibly Ironic how everybody loves to root against the Broncos... And say that the steelers/panthers are going to win... and then provide absolutely NO arguement at all about why the Broncos will lose...

And then Every single time a Bronco fan gives an arguement... Its actually a real well thought out conceived arguement with valid points, statistics, and resonable explanations...

It just shows how smart Denver fans are... and shows that pittsburg fans need to losen the helmets chin straps a little bit, because its clearly cutting the flow of oxygen and common sense to their brain.

Seattle fans you cant take seriously because they are always just a couple of days of rain away from cutting themselves... and well... because they live in Seattle... and besides the WNBA championship the city never wins anything...

And Carolina cares about Nascar... not football... And unlike the bears I think the Broncos might be smart enough to double team Steve Smith... I mean seriously that game vs. Chicago was just redicules...

I just wish I had tickets to the broncos/steelers game... I would seriously fly out to Colorado to see the game in a heartbeat If I had tickets.

Well, of course I didn't cite any arguments. I don't know any. Smile Do you just want me to make things up? I said that I want the Steelers to win. I didn't say that they are going to win. Hell, Denver will probably do really well. I just hate them. And, I would rather see the Steelers win than the Panthers, again, the Roanoke thing. Smile

Assuming the Martian team can handle the 0.17 G Lunar Stadium, they're the clear favorite to win--unless, of course, that ban on robots actually goes through. In that case, it'd be anybody's guess.

Oh wait. By "this year" did you mean 2006?

If the ban on robots goes through, Venus has the clear edge. They drafted the Cyborgs high this year.

I trust that all of the Broncos fans will at least root for the Steelers now, and not the Seahawks?

Please???

Oh, BTW, told you Pittsburgh could win at Mile High in January. Smile Good game, though. There toward the end, I thought that the Broncs might pull it out. Made me a little nervous.

Cheers,

I said Plummer was a fuck-up and that was proven true (not that it was a hard call to make about Plummer). What else is new?

Oh and Rothisburger did good. Yay. I was suprised that the Denver D didn't get at least one one those interceptions that Ben basically handed them.  Happens I guess. Anyway, Steelers win the SB. Wink

The Broncos beat the Pats on the back of some of the worst officicating I've ever seen in my entire life.  The Steeler's game was nearly as bad, but the Steelers were a good enough team to over come it.  The Steelers are playing the best football right now.  It was no surprise at all to see them totally dominate the Broncos.  I'm guessing Carolina also makes it to the dance.  The Seahawks had what can only be described as the worst division in the history of the NFL.  Congrats to them for winning it, but I think their ride ends tonight.  Steelers over Carolina in a hard hitting game.

Barring some sort of miracle, it looks like we're gonna have the Seahawks representing the NFC in the Super Bowl two weeks from now.  Judging by the way each team has played throughout the season, and especially the last couple weeks, I'm expecting to see a high-scoring shootout between Seattle and Pittsburgh.  Everyone thinks of Pittsburgh as a smash-mouth team that wins by beating the crap out you for 60 minutes, but that's certainly not the way they've been playing.  Against Indy, they jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead on the arm of Ben Roethlisberger, and they performed in a similar manner against the Broncos today.

The key to the game seems like it will be whether or not Matt Hasselback and the Seahawks' offensive line can deal with the Steeler blitz.  If they can, they probably win, otherwise I give the nod to the Steelers.  Either way, it should be fun to watch.

O man the steelers are gonna walk ALL OVER the seahawks in 2 weeks.
But on this evenings game, even though i picked the panthers to win, steve smith was triple covered at some pionts, but Dellhome just couldnt seem to find any other recievers and threw three pics.  The Seahawks may have looked amazing today, but Rothelsburger is the real deal so we'll see how they do against a QB that WONT throw three pics.

Well, the Broncos were snake bitten by Jake The Mistake Plummer, but that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. As a Saints fan (No one has more experience in the NFL with losers) I can say with confidence, once a screw up always a screw up.

My vote goes to Steelers as the winners of the Superbowl. They seemed to be playing very well against top teams, whereas the Seahawks have beaten weak teams all year or in the case of Carolina a one trick pony team

Incorrect, once again. Not that I cheer for this bunch of jobbers, but the Lions are much better at being terrible than the Saints.  I mean, the Lions haven't won the Championship since 1957.  While the Saints have never won one, they were incorporated into the league after 1957, which technically makes the Lions' drought longer.  The Lions have made to the conference championship game once since then, in like 1988, where the Redskins decimated them after it was about 14-0 after a good two minutes (kickoff return and then the Lions fumbled their next possession). In fact, the Saints' biggest achievement, Tom Dempsy's 63-yard field goal, came against none other than the Lions.

The Bears had Minnesota which were atleast a play off contender.  Seattle had to contend with the tragic trio of St. Louis, Arizona and San Francisco.  Those 3 combined for a 15-33 record.  None of those teams were even close to play off contenders at any point.  That is easily the worst I've ever seen.  Every other division had atleast a decent second best team.  St. Louis at 6-10 is not exactly a threat to take the division.  Seattle clearly had the easiest division in football.  That said, they looked better tonight then they did in last week.  I really thought they were going to get man-handled, but they more than held thier own.  I really think the Steelers are going to roll over them, but I'll atleast be watching the game now.  If Denver made it in I was going to find something else to do.

It is extremely unfair to place all the blame on Jake Plummer in that game. Steelers played great. Broncos played horrible. Jake Plummer was under pressure the entire game. He made a few bad plays (really bad), but when your being chased by Jerry Porter, and Palamalu is EVERYWHERE its not to hard to make mistakes.

Plummer had 3 turnovers... The 4th one when he fumbled the ball on 4th down doesnt count at all, because it was either a sack for 0 yards gain and loss of possession, or fumble 0 yards gained... loss of possession.

The Denver loss was totally due to Pitsburgs amazing ability to convert on 3rd and LONG over 80% of the time...

Oh, and Scott Limoges didnt cheer loud enough... Scott Its all your fault...

Pittsburg should be a 3 and 1/2 point fav. in the superbowl, but I think that the Seahawks are extremely underrated, but the AFC is just so much better then the NFC.

First the Lions have won championships albeit a long time ago but that does count for something, at least they were champions at on time. However, the Saints were not an NFL team until 1967, so let us see how both teams did since 1967.

Detroit – 12 Winning Seasons - 9 Playoff Appearances – 1 Playoff Win (1991 Versus Cowboys)
1970 Lost Divisional Playoffs  (Cowboys)
1982 Lost First Round (Redskins)
1983 Lost Divisional Playoffs  (49ers)
1991 Lost Conference Championship (Redskins)
1993 Lost Wild Card Playoffs (Packers)
1994 Lost Wild Card Playoffs (Packers)
1995 Lost Wild Card Playoffs (Eagles)
1997 Lost Wild Card Playoffs (Buccaneers)
1999 Lost Wild Card Playoffs (Redskins)

Saints – 7 Winning Seasons - 5 Playoff Appearances – 1 Playoff Win (2000 Versus Rams)
1987 Lost Wild Card Playoffs (Vikings)
1990 Lost Wild Card Playoffs (Bears)
1991 Lost Wild Card Playoffs (Falcons)
1992 Lost Wild Card Playoffs (Eagles)
2000 Lost Divisional Playoffs (Vikings)

For anyone interested this is over the course of 38 freak'n seasons. So, both teams suck pretty bad, but the Saints sucked more than the Lions. The Aints sucked so bad people came to the games wearing bags over their heads so no one would recognize them supporting these loser, they were/are that embarrassing. The title of worst team in the NFL was earned by us the hard way, losing. Our claim to fame was a 63 yard field goal and a Quarterback (Archie Manning) who threw 39 more interceptions than touchdowns during his tenure in New Orleans, you guys had Barry Sanders!

Edit:
One last thing, the overall record of both teams over this time period.
Detroit's record over this time period is 249-320-9
Saint's record over this time period is 234-339-5

Hah, we lose again!

Seems I'm in the minority on this one, but I'm going to have to go with the Seahawks in the Super Bowl. I think Pittsburgh caught Indy overconfident and flat footed after the bye week which allowed them to jump out to the early lead. Against Denver, personally I think it was a miracle Denver made it that far to begin with after the patriots played some of the worst post season football I've seen in the dynasty era and it came as no surprise when Pittsburgh steamrolled Jake Plummer and his band of pretenders. I think it'll really be a tight game, but Matt Hasselback/Shaun Alexander are providing a very strong balanced attack on offense and playing some of the best football of their careers. I'm taking Seattle in a hard fought win over Pittsburgh.

I don't even know which sport this Superbowl concerns but I guess Team Meandeck will win!

Anyway, based on the votes here Seahawks seem to be one of the highly favoured teams so I'll guess they win.

Oh well. Most of us in Denver were prepped for a 9-7 year missing the playoffs. Then again, we all expected Oakland to be a halfway decent team too.

Here's how the game's liable to play out:

Pittsburgh is a very physical team.  They have the ability to take a small lead and protect it the rest of the game due to being able to grind out the tough yards on the ground.  Seattle is going to take one in the teeth just because they're not going to be used to that sort of smash-mouth play.  Whether or not they recover is going to be the key to this game.  If they do recover, they have the NFL MVP and a powerful offensive line to do what the Steelers like to do to their opponents.  If they do not, the Pittsburgh defense will be able to tee off on Hasselbeck and the Seattle passing game.

I'm convinced that this game will be a very close struggle.

Then you cant talk very well.

I am a bitter Bronco fan, but ELD seems like a bitter patriots fan. The pats suffered from 1 bad call (endzone 1 was questionable), but that 1 bad call didnt cause 8 false starts, a fumbled punt return, and an interception in the endzone. Pittsburg did NOT out physical the broncos... Pittsburg didnt run the ball for shit, and they pulled a Colts and won through passing well on 3rd down.

What football needs is that system that Tennis has... Instant replay that can track the ball to find EXACTLY where it bounced on the court... The angles that thing gives is incredible... And I cant believe Football the biggest american sport cant muster up ennough technology to match tennis.

The football field is soo much bigger than the tennis court. Also, in tennis, there is no danger of a 400 pound refrigerator destroying your high speed camera on the sidelines. So, an advanced camera system would require a central computer with multiple technicians, cameras with high quality zoom lenses, and about 4-8 times as many cameras to cover that much field and still have useful angles. Then, you have to put one in every stadium...

But yeah, I hate refs.

Yeah, and all that high tech stuff isn't worth shit if the referee does not know what a football move is (Troy Polamalu interception replay debacle as an example). Perhaps the NFL should make being a NFL referee a full time job, in other words, make these guys watch films and practice refereeing all year long. Then it is less likely they will make stupid calls like the ones we have been seeing, and it is likely they will be more consistent on certain penalties like pass interference.

I don't really want to hear anymore about Jerome Bettis.  He's a good back who's had a long career..which is good enough for what constitutes the Hall of Fame in the NFL...but please...he's not great.

check out sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=schoenfield/060125 that if you want to see why...

nothing worse than 2 weeks of super bowl crap..I mean hype...

Not to sidetrack things, but the NBA has this and they have an officiating crew FAR worse (i.e. inconsistent) than any of the other major 3 sports (baseball and football) and even hockey too.  That Violet Palmer is still an official is beyond me.....ugh

Pittsburgh absolutely out-physicaled Denver in that game.  How else do you get sacks with a three-man pass rush?

Because your 3 man pass rush still outweighs the 5 man o-line by 15 pounds?

And I've always thought that there could me a transmitter sewn into the football that would trigger when it passed the goal line, but I'm a polsci major and an o-lineman, handling the ball isn't my thing.
