Oh, ok. Soratami Mirror-Mage also needs banning, it's the same as Flooded Shoreline. Uyo, Silent Prophet looks dangerous but you can't replay the lands at instant speed so it's not an infinite combo, just a Djinn Illuminatus.

An Idea I had was have some sort of counter that incremented each turn.  This would be your Superduel count per turn.  It could even cap at 20 or something (not that these games go for that many turns).

The headache of that would be, if you have some combo rolling on turn 15... keeping track of what land your on could be WAY WAY more trouble than its worth.  But this concept would really limit the ammount of easy-combo inifinite mana combos that could be created.

Even just going sometihng like 1,2,3,4,5,6, infinite.  would make the game a bit more balanced and a bit less:  hightide -> land bouncer -> gg!

But then again, this likely causes more problem than it 'fixes'

Isnīt Future Sight broken?

If you can resolve it, you could play your entire deck as lands and spells from the top of your library!  Very Happy

Just for my edification, what is the current status of SDL's? Does Back To Basics work or not? I know that there has been some discussion about it, and I feel that allowing Choke to work, but not B2B, sets up a very wierd precedent that could become confusing. I expressed my concern about this issue to Paul, but I was wondering where we stand on it.

As a quick aside, does anyone realize how many Armageddons there are? It's sick. Boil, Boiling Seas, Flashfires, Ravages Of War (I think that's the name, it's in P3K.) , etc. Also, cards like Sanctimony and Karma appear absurd in their power level.

Thanks,
Dave

I believe we ruled that you can only play cards face down if they are ACTUALLY in your hand.  So Future Sight is good, but not broken.

The thing about Karma is that it's completely one-sided, except that the opponent takes the first hit. I don't think Sanctimony is broken; who cares about lifegain? It might beat Tendrils but won't Brain Freeze or an infinite kill.

The thing about the Geddons is that they're only tempo-boosters; you can never actually run your opponent out of mana since if he wants to he can make his next four draws all land.

Armageddons can actually be pretty messed up.  There's a few ways to abuse them that I've thought of so far, although I haven't actually made a deck yet:

1. Limited Resources.  Limited Resources is actually a million more times broken with Sunder effects or Moonfolk (we're going to need to discuss Moonfolk, I plan on doing so in a different thread altogether), but not bad with geddon. I haven't seen a limited resources deck yet, but it's probably one of the most broken cards in the format.

2. Uba Mask - As mentioned above the cards have to be in your actual hand to play as land, so Uba is some serious lock-down

3. Mana Leaks - Make your opponent overextend his mana and then geddon - HUGE tempo boost

4. Hand destruction - If you lay into your opponent with hand destruction, they will feel forced to play their cards as land, and fall into your trap.

5. geddoning loads your graveyard, you have potential to play cards as lands that you want to get into the yard Blowing out your opponet's resources is gravy. (this is the one I want to focus on).

Lots of potential here.

You can only play one "real" land (coffers, ghost quarter, etc.) per turn, so only one bounceland per turn.

Life gift isn't the only abuse of that, either.

Life Gift is actually not too shabby, though.
