Hey everyone,
The name's Andrew. I've been playing Magic since '94, tournaments since about '95. Never had a great showing in any major tournaments, though I've won a few local tourneys.
Anyway, I quit Magic for like 6 years, from '97 to '03. Then I just felt like getting back into the game and have been lurking around TMD for about a year now, but only signed up for an account like 10 minutes ago.
I'm known in other such Magical places as vampyre_apocalypse, so you might see me around once in a while.
I love combo decks, and eveything else can take a hike, although I have been known to put on the beats every know and again. Currently I am trying to resurrect Long ever since they killed my darling =(. Bram's decklist helped me a lot. Perhaps I'll post some testing results. I've had some good ones.
Oh, and I'll be in NJ @ GameMaster on Sunday, so I'll see you there!

Hi there all, I'm Snappa, better known as Nick, a 29 year old programmer from Clearwater FL. Started playing magic right around the Antiquities release. Played some tournaments in the good ol' days of type 1 with an old Zoo build. Stopped playing around Mirage, and didn't start again until a friend dragged me to a limited tournament early in Onslaught.
Since then, Ive dusted off what's left of the old collection, spent entirely too much money replacing stuff I sold for entirely too cheap years ago, and have been lurking here and Starcity and catching up on 6 to 7 years of theory. I've played in a couple of standard Friday night magic tournaments, but I didn't like the idea of type 2 when it was first introduced, and like it even less now when everyone and their brother is playing the same X/W control.
If there are any type 1 players here from the Tampa area, I'd love to hear where the old fogies go to play. The local card shops are full of rugrats playing Yugioh and I'm looking for a slightly more mature scene to play in.

Hey, Well, I think this is my first post on this site. I'm Tim and am currently a freshman at Emory down in Atlanta (but live in MD...anyone from Maryland?). Magic wise, I've been playing since 4th Edition but stopped when Stronghold and Exodus came out...so its really been awhile. But I'm thinking of trying to get back into it...and don't particularly care for T2 (can't keep up with the format). So i'm left with T1. The only problem is none of my friends here play it (or have ever played it) so that leaves me with few options... I've been around Magic-League.com to look for T1 games but it seems everyone is playing draft or T2 these days. So I guess TheManaDrain is my last option to find some T1 games...is anyone interested in playtesting? Though I completely missed the revision on the new rules...(still trying to read up on the rules for the Stack) I feel that I'm a pretty solid player. I'm not quite sure though because I can only compare myself to the games I get on Magic-League. Deck wise, I am a total budget player (suiblack, fish, R/G Beatz, Stompy, Sligh) Aim Screen Name= TmKm7777 Email= Tskim@learnlink.emory.eduLet me know if anyone wants to get some games in...I promise to be competitive. Tim

Hey kids,
My name is Jeremy, as you may have guessed. I've been playing on and off since the end of revised. Mostly off late since getting married and having a kid kind of eats up my disposable income. I'm thinking about getting back into playing, going to get my cards out of storage this week probably, and see if I have anything I can toss together to make a decent type I deck. Of course then I need to find somewhere to play it, preferably in the greater portland, or area. Anyway, that's who I am, I'm sure I'll have more to contribute once I break out my cards and see what I have. I don't have any power, closest I come I think is a pretty good ammount of duals.

I hail from the western part of the United States in a gorgeous state known as Oregon. I know Oregon is far more beautiful than any of your dingy states. I know this because I have spent the last couple summers driving the continental states. I was impressed with Pennsylvania though; I didn't see the cities though, only the forested parts. It reminded me of home. Anyway...
My name is Travis. I've been playing since, well pretty darn close to the beggining. I've almost always played control variants but love to swap decks with peeps and play what they have built and vice versa. Magic is a game of fun first and competitiveness second. Although the gap between the two is very narrow, we arenot out for each other's throats.
No I'm not a peace loving hippie, no I don't smoke pot, and I don't get myself involved in riots like many of you may think us Oregonians are all about. We prefer good sanctioned fights, beer, and baseball.

I'm Daniel, posting from the seaside state of MA. I'm 15, and being without a car (or a license for that matter) I am stuck in a scrubby metagame about 15 minutes outside of Boston. I've "played" (used loosely) Magic for a little over 7 years, but after a break during the Urza's Cycle ( ) I returned to play more competetively. Right now, I'm unpowered, but a job should soon change that. Hopefully I'll be able to break out of my little area and get to some of the larger tournaments and actually learn something about magic, but as for now, I'm stuck in Scrubsville. I'm a combo player at heart, but that's just because I like to win. I've been trying out Landstill recently, and I'm liking it, since it works decently on a budget. There's a playtest group being formed around my area, so hopefully I'll be able to play more competently. [Added]: Where do you fence? My brother fences at the Boston Fencing Club (I think that's the name...) his name's Michael, maybe he's seen you there?

I'm Sam, from MA. I guess I'm part of team hadley, though I've only gone to one out of Hadley tournament with them. I'm still in junior highschool, meaning that I don't have any power 9. However I do have nearly every card needed for blue-based control, so I just go to 5-proxy tournaments. Outside of magic, I do fencing; although its pretty hard to get anything accomplished when the average opponent is about twice my size . I started playing magic in about 1994, but I took a long break and only started playing competatively when judgement came out. I've been playing control for about a year now, and I don't expect to stop anytime soon.

Hi there, I'm Zack. I hail from just north of Hadley in a small town called Greenfield. I'm 23 years old attending the local community college here in Greenfield. I also work fulltime as a computer technician for the local newspaper up here.
I've been playing Magic since Revised/Dark era. I was really crappy at the game until around Tempest. I helped run the events at the local game shop at the time when I was 16-18ish.
I stopped playing Magic just after Masques came out and only recently started getting back into it just after Onslaught came out.
I currently now run small type 1.5 events here in Greenfield, as well as being a Level 1 Judge as of the Mirrodin Pre-release.
I plan on starting to get into Type 1 and I hope to attend some more local Type 1 events down in Hadley. Unfortunatly I do not have anyone to playtest with, or really know what I should even build as of right now.

I'm Bill, living in Converse, TX. I'm a MSgt in the Air Force, getting ready to retire in the next year or so. I've been playing magic (as well as my 15 year old son) since Revised/Fallen Empires/The Dark were readily available in stores. I took a two year haitus from the game during which I sold my somewhat decent collection...only to have my son regain interest again, thereby dragging me back in. Of course, this means that magic has put a sizable dent in my income over the years.
Glad to be here. Now where's the munchies?

Menno Rieff, 24 years. I have a degree in Business administration, and work for a large international bank. I've played from FE onwards. I love all formats except Block Constructed and T2. Í've played in 2 limited Pro Tours. I have one of the most pimpy collections, including more foil asian cards than can be found in the whole of China. Well...maybe not, but i'm sure I come close

Hello fellow type 1 players, ive ventured into type 1 a few months ago and rather play this format than anything else...i started playing magic around 7th ed. but played on and off and then seriously started to play again when torment came about, i was not able to buy cards for quite awhile since i live in a small ass town and didnt know where any card shops were, so my decks sucked ass....after finding a shop in Corpus Christi texas, an hour away from home, i started to play 1.5 quite frequently....then one sat nite they played type 1 and my MBC didnt hack it....i then sought after many vintage staple cards for black....i currently run suicide black and goblin ahnk sligh....my current meta is unpowered so it is quite a diverse crowd of decks....

Hey
My name is Manuel Fernandez and I live in Chicago, IL. I am a senior in High School and I've been playing since Mercadian Masques. Since then I've accquired a decent collection(5 moxen, lotus, recall, walk, Library, 4drains, 3 bazaars, berserk, duals) with my "Infamous Trading Skills". My deck of choice is Hulk along with other control decks. The Type 1 in the Chicago area is pretty much Stagnant right now but my buddies and I have been traveling to Tournies in the surrounding states to feed our addiction while we try and rebuild our Type 1 scene at home. My AIM name is Mudx456, msg me if u wanna play some Magic IRL/Online, trade, etc especially if u live in or around the Chicagoland area.

Allright, so I might as well introduce myself...
My name is Per-Karsten Nordhaug; and I live in Oslo, Norway.
Been playing on and off for quite some time, but not really into the tournament scene until the last couple of years.
Play mostly budget, unpowered stuff, as I haven't had the funds to aquire any such goodies. The Type 1 scene over here is really small - and there were no sanctioned tournaments until recently.
Current decks include unpowered Slax, Sui-black and the wonderful Alternative Lifestyles-Fish.

My name is Derek Patstone. I started playing around 6th edition. A for the decks that I play, well they tend to be rogue builds that no one would ever expect.
My collection, is on the larger side, with mostly newer cards. I have built up and sold several sets of Judgment and Legions. Other than that nothing much.

My name is Ryan (Varien Tanafres). I'm 19 and out of high school, working fulltime until I start college next yr. I started playing Magic around when Mercadian Masques came out.
I don't have any great cards, I lived in a small area. Had no access to good cards and no card shops were around in my area. (45 min drive to nearest card shop)
Majority of the time I played was casual, with my friends. Not many ppl played around the area I lived in. ("Boonies", NY) So wasn't into it hardcore, but I was considered an ok player there, best player of my friends and the best deckbuilder.
I quit playing/collecting when Judgement came out, but got back into Magic bigtime when Scrogue came out.
I moved as soon as I got out of Highschool. (Boston area, MA) That's where I shifted from the casual play to competitive play. (This was after the time Scourge was released, but before Mirrodin came out) I found out that I really wasn't all THAT good and learned a lot through tournaments. I've been competitive for about 5 months.
The metagame is easy here. (now at least) I usually only see T1, rarely Extended, never T2 of T1.5. I place Top 4 almost always, which isn't much to say, we usually average 10-14 ppl in tournaments. I only got 1st once, one certain person gets that. I've learned a lot from playing the person. I just need to be better at building decks to beat him. I'm trying to get out to more tournaments in the local area, but I'm usually stuck working.
I have no P9, my best, expensive cards are Italian Abyss, English Moat, and English Mana Drain. Looking forward to buying P9 when I get the cash. I trade online, Magictraders.com, Odin_Tanafres is my s/n. I'm also a GABtraders.com member. Commander Tanafres of the Jade Team. (soon to be Captain).
I don't know the best use of some cards, and try to build rogue decks. (I do well, but the more popular decklists deny me 1st and sometimes 2nd place.) I haven't really copied any decklist online to win, I think that building and winning with someone else's idea isn't as much fun. *shrugs*
Anywho, I'va talked to much, hopefully I can help a few ppl on this site.

If you still don't know who I am: I'm John's younger brother (he plays UW Landstill) and come with him, Micah and Peter (they play randomness)

I'm that random asian guy that is sometimes seen with the people mentioned by Tautochrone.
I'm the guy who always play sui black and insists its one of the best decks (except when I play against sligh). I play limited booster draft and type 1. I am quitting magic once I win a black lotus.

Hi I am Peter Bokhorst 29 years old, married with the best and most beautiful woman in the world (No its not because I love her, she really is.) with two wonderful kids(11 and 5), work as an system administrator and live in the Netherlands. Close to Amsterdam. (Been there and the city sucks. Really)
I started in '94 just after legends in school where I tried to study computer sience. It didn't work out and the year before I dropped out I only came to school to play magic. I sold everything because I thought I would never find anyone to play Magic with outside school. After 6 months I found someone that played at work and I started buying cards again. Once your in you never get out.
I am not going to bore you more with my life, so to round things up:
I do not play tournaments because: a) I'd rather stay home with my wife b) I like the game more than winning c) I do not play enough to be as good as I can
I'm close to owning the P9 after which I can spend normal amounts of cash again when buying cards.

Hi, my name is Adam, and I'm currently residing in the dorms of Indiana University Bloomington. I've been playing on and off since around Revised. I'm not all that great, but I'm looking to learn. I love running my Necropotence deck, even though it's probably the one of the best worst decks I've ever built. Okay, that's enough.

This Post feels remarkable like slapping a sticky name tag onto my lame sci-fi t-shirt but hell why not, we're all geeks here so I suppose I'm among friends.
I'm from Concord (I know my profile says Manchester but thats a Temporary afliction, Zherbus may find that funny but I doubt the rest of you will get it unless you are from NH) my home shop is Concord Card and Memorabilia where Zherbus ahs held a few T1 proxy tournaments 3 of which I have attended with disapointing though not surprising results.
I started playing about the same time that the dark was taken off the shelf and spent more than any rational human would have on Fallen Empires, it was all we could get our hands on, that and packs of 3rd edition the prices of wich were increasing rapidly as the release of 4th approached
as for paying my dues I spen the first 7 years of my magic career loosing consistantly to just about everybody I played. It wasn't untill about the onslaught block that I actually took the time to learn the finer points of the game, mechanics timing and what not

Howdy, the real name's Joe.
I'm 19 and I am a student at the lovely Minneapolis Community and Technical College in downtown Mpls. I also work almost full time making pizzas at a local chain, Davanni's. This combined with the winter and lack of a car has kept me from competing in any Type one events for a few months, but I should be able to start up again in a few weeks with spring on the horizon.
I also draft at Phoenix Games in Uptown on every Saturday I'm not busy and end up running a lot of their drafts. I have been playing Magic on and off since June '95, but I was pretty much a scrub until about a year ago when I started playing competatively. I'm just starting to acquire duals and such and am in the market for power/Bazaars/Drains/Workshops so that I can really compete.

I'm 18 and I live around the St. Cloud, MN area. I play in the type one tournaments at Utopia Games. I occasionally try to host power tournaments, but the lack of people prevents me. I have done a proxy type one for power before. Anyways, any questions, just ask.

Hello, my name is Jason. I've been playing this game since 4th, stopped at Visions, and came back at Odyessy and haven't looked stopped. Normally, I am a Type II player. But I love the depth and intelligence it takes for Type I. I am a mechanical designer, working for a robotics company. I also code applications and administer a few databases. My latest fascination is artificial intelligence, specifically chatbots. If anyone else is interested, there's a great site for A.I. and it is here.

Hello,
My name is Lloyd Frias. I am a graduate student and teaching assistant in Spanish at Marquette University. I will be graduating in May and hopefully moving on to gainful employment.
I've played Magic since the end of Revised, stopped around Mirage and resumed with Invasion. I've played serious Type I since 2002. Milwaukee until very recently has not had a Type I scene, so I used to go to events in the Chicago area. I tend to be a control player primarily, but playing combo has started to interest me as well.
