Enchantment -- Aura
Enchant creature
If enchanted creature would deal combat damage, instead you may draw a card.I think this makes an interesting Pacifism/Cuiosity hybrid. Functions much like Pacifism on your opponent's creatures, or like Curiosity on your own.

This would be an excellent tool for U/W Fish, it would stop colossus as well as give a draw engine. On top of that, it's actually pretty fair for the environment, not broken or anything.

I like it, too. It's as much of a Sandskin or Heart of Light / Curiousity hybrid than Pacifism/Curiousity. It seems like it could create some real challenges about how to play it in Limited.
What about making it trigger off any damage (like Curiousity) instead of just combat damage? It would help it shut down your opponent's pingers, but would also make it good with your pingers. Not like WU has a lot of pingers, but still.

I'd like to avoid this having exceptional synergy with repeatable damage sources like Mr. (Z->)90 or Masticore. Your creature has to risk its neck in combat to get the card. You still get the card even if your creature is blocked. Putting this on a pinger removes all the tension.
I think it's more Pacifism than Sandskin because Sandskin encourages your creature to throw its vulnerable self into combat where this discourages the creature from entering combat. But yeah, it's a Sandskin/Pacifism/Curiosity grab-bag.

Curiosity + Niv Mizzet is an instant win already. This costs you a whole other color to just draw your deck instead of killing them straight away. Not really impressive to me.
This is very interesting, it would have made a great pacifism variant in like Dissension (vs Plumes of Peace). It even seems like it could be constructed playable as well. Thumbs up from me.

Curiosity doesn't double as removal like this does. It's not a power level concern, anyway. This card has a particular "niche" of utility which already includes negating opposing creatures in combat and providing a draw engine off your own creatures. Basically, the card does enough already and I don't see the need to add combo with pingers as an additional option. Just because a card could be made more powerful doesn't mean it should. |

Yes,Tarmogoyf is probably better than Chameleon Colossus, but comparing it to Tarmogoyf is like comparing your girlfriend to Carmen Electra - one's versatile and reliable, the other's just big and cheap.(And you'd run both if you could get away with)

I especially like its interactions with all the bad cards that force creatures to attack and block.

The cost could go up to  . I don't know if that's necessary, though. On your opponent's creature, Beguilement is almost always worse than Pacifism because your opponent can always choose to never attack or block, but can still choose to chump block if they need to. On your creature, this is slightly better than Curiosity. The damage replacement effect makes it easier for your opponent to block and kill your creature without card disadvantage. Curiosity is best on an evasion creature, in which case Beguilement does the same thing but without dealing damage. The real question is whether the two-color casting cost makes up for the versatility. This would probably have to be uncommon in any set that doesn't focus much on multicolor. It could easily be common in any block with decent mana-fixing, though. |
