Sounds like you need to make an appearance and make sure he doesn't win...

Major update coming to this tournament by tomorrow.  We have a venue set just need to verify everything, and its looking like we will have a day 2.

June 14? That's my birthday!

No Rich, Just No. You have to learn to share. Just because you win EVERY single important tournament doesn't mean you can just show up on your birthday and go undefeated again!

*ahem*

Am I the only one who is 3-0 in matches against the Atog Lord in the last 3 years?

That's really impressive;
I never would have thought to add Ink-Eyes to GAT.

June 14? That's my birthday!

And mine's the 15th...I better look at building a new deck I think if I want to actually win then though.  Last time I took it out to use it got handed its first ever 0-2 drop, although admittedly that was the 2 Flash Hulk decks in the tournament.

And Outlaw - we'll put you down in a beer draft any time you want to go.

A bunch of us from ICBM are going to try our hardest to make the trip out for this one.  Hopefully we can have a nice hotel party like the last stratbury tournament we were all at.  Hopefully we'll see u all there.

Unlike stratford there is a strip club literally 5 minutes away from the tournament so  take that at face value.  There may be some entertainment saturday night.

Very important prize split information updated in the original post.  It seems a lot of people are concerned about cash value since the thread got started in the community forums.  Even if we get boycotted and only 30 people show up, it's still going to be the most amazing tournament ever and everything will remain guaranteed NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS!!!

I can't wait until this tournament comes up.  I am also going to take it a step farther and probably play a different archetype than i normally play.  This means i most likely WILL NOT be playing combo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  At least for one of the days...for the record does anyone consider oath combo? lol...im taking any ideas for a non-combo deck.  Wink

For people to boycott this tourny would be stupid. What happened to freedom of speech? You are unhappy about somthing and felt the need to make your opinion known. Regardless of whether people support your opinion or not, they hafta respect the fact that you took a stand. With regards to your prize structure posting i would hafta say that you are correct about myriad and although Dan and Sarah are very nice people, I think many people in the vintage community would agree there prize structure is jank and the math simply doesnt add up. To add to that i really feel you should retract your statements regarding ELDs tourny. He is quite possibly the best TO around and his prizes structure always equals 100% of his entry fees. This does not even begin to account for the hard work he put into his proxies for so long. Anyway I do appreciate you as a TO taking a stand against diminishing prize structure and hope that we will continue to see many tournaments from you. Thanks again.

I don't support any supposed boycott or really have any particularly strong opinion on this stuff at all (since I don't play in the Northeast), but by choosing to not attend a tournament, people are not "being stupid" arbitrarily but are instead voicing their opinions.  They believe that ELD or Myriad or whoever else gives out a fair value at their tournaments, so those people are expressing their own opinions by voting with their wallets.  If it's stupid to show Hatch what you think of his comments, then making the comments must also be stupid (since both are just expressing personal feelings).  I don't think there's anything wrong with keeping things in the open or speaking up if you have a problem, and similarly if players want to skip a tournament because they disagree with something (like the TO) that is their right.  Just because you may agree with him doesn't mean the whole world does, and someone can respect Hatch's opinion and still disagree (and can show that by not attending).  Again, I have nothing against Hatch or ELD or anyone involved, just defending the rights of players to attend or not attend any tournament they choose.  Nothing stupid about only showing up to events by people you want to support.

The point i was trying to make is that those individuals or groups that are refusing to go to his tournys based on his opinion of others tournys are immature. If you read my entire comment you would understand that i do not fully agree with hatchman, infact there are alot of things i disagree with him about regarding this topic. However, I do feel that for someone to boycott his tourny based on him stating his opinions is immature and foolish. Perhaps I didnt make myself clear or perhaps you dont have the ability to understand something without having it explained in depth but the point of the matter is i support those who take a stand against things they don't feel is right. If someone does not feel hatchman has presented his arguement in a professional and mature manner then that would be a reason not to attend his tourny not the fact that he feels other TOs are not presenting a fair prize structure.

I don't want this to turn into a debate on who will boycott or who won't.  It's irrellevant to us if we get less players to be honest.  Anyone that knows Travis knows that it really doesn't matter if he loses $2000 in cards.  We know that the people that do come will have an amazing time, and it will be great to see people we haven't seen since Stratford.

Due to some people possibly no longer attending our tournament, we decided to reward the players that do come even more.  We lowered the entry fee day 1 to $20 and day 2 to $15

...but the point of the matter is i support those who take a stand against things they don't feel is right...

Unless of course that stand is against something you don't agree with?  Like, people who want to support ELD or Myriad and want to show that support by not going to the tournament of someone who (they probably feel unfairly) critisized them?  That's taking a stand too.

I would gladly attend this tournament, were I in the area, so its not like I support some boycott, but you can't say "People are stupid for not supporting Hatch's tournament even if they vehemently disagree with him and don't like the way he has treated ELD/Myriad/Whoever," while simultaneously claiming that you respect people who take a stand against the things they disagree with, as those boycotting are doing just that.  If you respect people's freedom to do/say what they want, then you should respect a boycott for an actual issue.

-Jimmy

PS Personal attacks don't actually do anything to further your argument, so lets all just not do them ok?  Thanks!

Without making any judgments as to who is right and who is wrong, the staff has decided that the forums are not the proper venue for debates about TO integrity.  This was made fairly clear when the previous thread dealing with this issue was locked and deleted.  This is the last verbal warning people will receive for reviving this controversy on the boards.  Please take it elsewhere.  -DA
