I do think that if Ray wants to give the worlds T8 free entry, that's awesome.
I agree with this statement , however I unfortunately cannot attend

Does team Baltimore show up to the Baltimore events? Cause the NJ crew just seems to dominate all of them.

Ray, This sounds rad, I wish I could be there.... I'm trying my hardest to be ready for Gencon this year, which means no Chicago and unfortunatly no TMD Open either, but one of these days I will make it out there for sure - I know Fuckin' Lou would be down for a road trip, and I'm sure we can round up some more of the colorado guys, but not this time Thanks anyway for helping to keep the scene alive! Bonus Math Question: Prove that the short exact sequence of Z-modules: 2 pi 0 --> Z --> Z --> Z/2Z --> 0 does not split (where 2 denotes multiplication by 2, pi is the canonical projection map, and Z is the integers)

I have to agree about the green creatures, but I'm not sure if Perish is the key, since Progenitus just gets shuffled back in. So, I preemptively call Circle of Protection: Green the tech of the tournament. It stops Tarmogoyf, too!

Ray as usual this tournament sounds absolutely amazing. You know I will be there and I will drag along every member of TPS that I can, not that we have to travel that far, but still it's the principal that counts. About the team competition, I actually think that you should make it so that you may only sign up once per person. I know that not many people sign up more than once, but a few do to give themselves a better chance. I think it means more to bragging rights and things of that nature if people just sign up once. I mean I could go around asking some of the New England players I know to be on my team's and just be on five teams. It only cost me $15 and I now have five times the odds of winning than the person who only wants to be on one team. Even if you don't accept this idea I am still going to enter the team tournament, but only once like I always have. I can't wait for this tournament, it's always a blast.

Okay...this event looks like it is going to be OFF THE HOOK. I keep hearing about more and more people who were notably missing from previous events: Jeff Tussi, ICBM, Baltimore peeps, this should be a great event.
Recent TMD Opens have had declining attendance. This may be a good sign about vintage of attendance changes direction and goes back up.
A couple comments about a few things.
First: Bye list updated again. I know we have a bunch of people travelling from a ways (Baltimore, Virginia, MidWest) I didn't look at any of these events when constructing the bye so if you are travelling from a ways and feel you are qualified to buy a bye, please let me know so I can confirm it and add it to the list.
Second: The team competition should in fact be where you sign up once with two friends/teammates and not just guess the top 3 players. We will run it that way. Suffice to say there will be a freakin' humongeous trophy and all additional collected money will go into that team competition prize support.
Third: Some of you have inquired about a room rate at the nearby Ramada. In the past we have had a room rate, but got burned when a commitment was made for a certain number of rooms and people stayed elsewhere. The other day, however, I received a call from a very stewardess woman by the name of Karen. She took the time to explain the sweeping changes that have taken place at the Ramada and really wanted to get back business from magic players. She set up for me a room rate of $69 for any number of rooms(until they are at capacity). To reserve your room, call and state that it is for the MAGIC GATHERING room block. If they tell you that they don't have the $69 rate, Karen said to specifically ask for her(she is like the second in command there). Her extension is 688. (ICBM...if you already have a room or two reserved, call back and make sure to change it to this rate if it will save you money)
Fourth: With regard to the possible protouresque free entry for "famed" players incentive. Sundering Jerk brings up a good point when he hints on expected value. From this persepctive, an extra player doesn't add money to the prize support, yet the odds of a paying player winning decreases, so therefore expected value of the event goes down slightly. Granted, when we get to the point of 100+ players, the effect on any one players expected value is quite small, equity is still an important part of keeping the paying player happy, since they would make up the majority of the event. On the contrary, consider the following. The number of actual wins you need to earn x number of dollars doesn't grow linearly with the number of players, but exponentially. The difference between needing to go 5-1-1 and 6-1-1 could be as much as 128 players where as the difference between needing to go 3-1-1 and 4-1-1 is only at most 32 players. By this argument, if 32 free players each bring 3 paying friends, the prize support is increased by 96 entry fees, yet you only need 1 extra win to reap those rewards. At what point is it worth it or not? What do you all think? I'd love to hear some more discussion on this specific issue. Let your voices be heard.
Fifth: I have so far received very few preregistration PMs. Remember, you don't have to pay when you pre-reg, I'm just doing this to gauge attendance. Their will also be a pre-reg prize. Stating in this forum that you might be coming isnt an actual Pre-reg. TO COUNT, PLEASE PM YOUR ACTUAL NAME AND THE NAMES OF OTHERS YOU KNOW WILL BE COMING TO BE PRE-REGISTERED.
Thanks all. This is shaping up to be an epic event. Ray

I'm playing cherry parfait, how about you? Seriously though. If everybody's going to be playing Drains, it's probably the best thing to do. If you can't beat them, join them, right? This tournament is going to be a blast. Should be great to see everybody playing in a big event. I know that the guys are all looking forward to unleashing Fish, Tezz, C.S. and Goblins on everybody...

Less than one week until this amazing event.
1.) If you haven't yet pre-reged, I highly recommend you do so. It's free, takes 30 seconds, and enters you into our pre-reg drawing. To pre-reg, just PM me your full name. Remember, just telling me in passing that you will be coming doesn't count as an official pre-reg(since my memory is terrible.)
2.) If you are travelling from far away, and should have a bye but don't have it listed, let me know. I only mostly took records of local events, so I will need to know if you plan on buying a bye that you are qualified for that I don't have a listed event for.
3.) I am not sure if all rooms are sold yet, but if you plan on reserving a room at the Ramada Inn right down the street from the event site for the special tourny rate of $69, call now to do so.
4.) Let's hear some last week trash talking!
