Thanks Ben. The event was great as always, I look forward to the next one. I'm sad I couldn't get to the finals but sometimes things just don't go your way. I'd like to say I threw away one of the games in the Semi's vs. Peter but I think both of us played well and it just wasn't in the cards for me. They were some of the best Tez mirrors I have ever played and each one ended with the other guy in a position to win on his next turn. Ah well, I guess I'll just have to pick up a Bye next time.
Oh, and Tez is one hell of a deck. 5 of 8 players there made top 8 with it, which is a considerably better percentage than what I remember from the Gush era.

Jimmy In the Semis. You had Mox Sapphire and an Underground Sea online and Drained, 'whatever' for one. You had Tinker in hand set up perfectly for your turn two. Then you drew Colossus for turn!! That was awful, sorry I couldn't help but laugh, rough.

@TK: Was the Ancient Grudge so important in your matches to deserve a Green splash? What would you think about Green for Goyfs? ^^

I felt like doing something other than laughing there >< It sucked, but that's the way it goes I guess.

[/quote] Its the best drain deck in the format all I like how these builds diverse from each other i really like the card selections in these builds, however I am not satisfied with transmute artifact, or reconstruct I feel like a second tez is proper, and why was there only 4 tps players present what has caused the switch in the area??

The green for the ancient grudges can barely even be called a splash since the usual land in that spot would be basic mountains. The grudges were pretty amazing i boared in all four several times throughout the day. If you wanted to play actual green cards you would have to change the mana base by cutting the barb rings which probably are better than whatever your adding. If i was going to play green it wouldn't be for goyf but for choke. I very nearly played 2 choke main and 2 board but there just to hard to cast with sphere and null rod.
the deck was pretty sick all day but i petty much got the matchups i expected all day long.
round 1 long 2-0 on draw both games round 2 long 2-0 on draw both games round 3 tezz 1-2 lost die roll and had petty mediocre draws round 4 painter 2-1 round 5 draw
top 8 tezz 2-0 top 4 long 2-0 finals probably would have been 30-0
This format has basically degenerated to play tezz or play something that beats it and Ive chosen the latter for basically every tourney

I can make some educated guesses, but I'm quite interested on what you took out of the deck .

null rod just smashes everything in this environment. Might be time for MOTM stax to make a comeback, maybe a monkey cage here and there.

well every single matchup all day I sided out 2 crucible and dupicant for the 3 rebs and in most of my matches other than against long i borded out 4 chalice or 4 wire for grudge depending if i was on the draw or not. that may not be exactly correct but i decided to board like that rather than just take one out of several cards.

@TK: Awesome deck and awesome finish. I really like it and if you could maybe write something about it, that would be awesome. Thanks for the insights so far though.

I think Kempfer was playing swans in his board as a way to beat oath of druids.

I think Kempfer was playing swans in his board as a way to beat oath of druids.
Except that when he actually played against it vs James he got his combo and still couldn't win without 40 minutes trying to figure it out.

yeah James was totally pissed that he went to time in like 3 rounds that day and didn't top 8 because of it.

Yeah i guess i need to learn how to play oath.
The addendum is that if you are consistently going to time and think you are playing fast, you need to make your opponent play faster. Calling a judge will do a good job of this.

Yeah Im definitely going to be more aggresive in my judge calls in the future. I feel like I spend 40 mins out of a round watching my opponent try to figure out what to do.

Just play stax its the fastest deck ever.
Best thing to do is just badger your opponent to play faster which usually cuses them to mess up., then if needed call a judge. being an asshole is usually needed at times to avoid having slow and drawn out rounds.
