I was just wondering what everyone's favorite non-competitive cards are and why.
Here's some of mine:
Ihsan's Shade - Just a badass from a flavor perspective.
High Tide - Can be competitive sometimes but not lately, I really think this is a fun card.
Hand of Justice - Another card with cool flavor.
Avatar of Woe - I love playing dropping this down in my casual suicide black deck.
Cateran Overlord - I started playing when Mercadian Masques came out and always thought this guy was a huge badass.
Delraich - see above. Also really cool artwork.
Warmonger - The first card I ever got was a Duelist promo foil Warmonger so it has sentimental value.
Tidal Kraken - Another big beater from Masques that I thought was cool.
Djinn Illuminatus - A card I keep trying to break but never can. Really cool ability.
Magus of the Jar - see above. I have a deck idea that could become slightly competitive revolving around this but entomb needs to be unrestricted first.
So those are some of mine. What are yours?

Calciderm - Oh shit my Blastoderm works with CRUSADE now bwaa ha ha

Anurid Brushhopper - it seems like such a good idea, too.  Removal only works in multiples, can chump block a lot, puts a bunch of shit in the yard if need be, etc etc... and yet...

Battle Screech - makes so many birds!  And hey, it pitches to DENNIS BRUSHHOPPER

Quiet Speculation - Maybe once they rehash Flashback the umpteenth time this'll finally break.  For now it's just a cute way to get, like, triple Roar of the Wurm or Deep Anal in the yard.  In OdBC I rocked this card in WW.dec and would generally dump Battle Screech, Deep Analysis and (dun dun dun daaaaaa) Prismatic Strands into the grave.

Spelljack - counter your spell and cast it for you?  DEAL.  This would be a hilarious Wish target if it were even remotely feasible.

the Slith guys - really there's a bunch of guys that Tarmogoyf just flat out denies from ever being considered.  These aren't necessarily like that, they were sort of non great way before Goyf.  Still one of my favorite plays in the few actual Vintage tournies I played in was to play first turn Slith Firewalker, second turn STANDSTILL (all with FoW backup) against a Hulk Smash player.  What was that deck called, Electric Avenue?  Great fuckin day that was, probably would have won the thing if I weren't called away for some damn thing in the round-before-last.

Twisted Abomination - come on.  Cool as fuck.  Ritual, Swampcycle this guy, Reanimate??  Block your Tarmogoyf FOREVER, oh and BTW better be a 6/7 Goyf or you LOOSE.  Seriously I like this guy a lot.

there's probably a lot of actual non-creature spells I'm leaving out but these spring to mind the quickest.

EDIT: How did I forget?  The Phantom creature cycle from Judgment.  One of my favorite plays in my early days of playing was Elephant Guide + any given Phantom Centaur/Nomad/Tiger/Flock/etc... With equipment representing a way to 'abuse' these guys without risking huge card disadvantage, I'd love to dick around with the idea of putting some stupid equip cards on a Phantom Centaur FTW.

Terramorphic Expanse, Fellwar Stone, and Rampant Growth (& variants), for making 5c manabases work on $2.

Krovikan Horror: this guy is just a fucking Swiss army knife, he does everything in the world. Attack, block, defense against control magic effects, prevents Jitte counters, activates "goes to graveyard" triggers, fuels Zombie Infestation and Survival, removes small s creatures, provides B/G decks some reach.

Vedalken Engineer: +2 boost!

Thran Turbine: Also +2 boost! Someday I'm going to find a way to break this, by god. Cycling or morph or something, or possibly WITH Vedalken Engineer.

Taniwha: Why, you ask? Only my hairdresser knows for sure.

Plaxmanta: live the dream!

Fireslinger/Granger Guildmage/Shadow Guildmage: for coming online faster than every other pinger.

Clout of the Dominus: No one EVER sees this coming, and few are prepared to deal with it.

Thran Turbine: Also +2 boost! Someday I'm going to find a way to break this, by god. Cycling or morph or something, or possibly WITH Vedalken Engineer.

I have Thran Turbine + Pili-Pala + Stasis + Frozen Solid in one of my EDH decks. I have twice had Pili-Pala get there for 40 because of Thran Turbine.

And now, due to the overenthusiastic clamors from absolutely no one, my list:

Phyrexian Plaguelord: 5 mana 4/4 that 2-1s and sets up fun comboes with my next card.

Corpse Dance: 2-0s all day long. Pure comedy gold with Plaguelord on top or in play. I can (and have) get back: Yavimaya Elder, Ravenous Baloth, Hierarch, EWitness, Volrath's Shapeshifter, Spore Frog, Spike Feeder, FTK, and Draining Whelk.

Doubling Season: Forms like Voltron with Sap Burst, Feral Hydra, Krakilin, and my next card, among others.

Apocalypse Hydra: You know what the problem with Fireball? It only gets in there for X damage. This guy gets in there for 2X damage every turn, unless you have the above card, in which case, it's 4X damage.

Spiritmonger: I need to include it in every BG EDH deck that I have. 5 mana 6/6 regenerators are really that good.

Sharuum: 6 mana to bring back an artifact (such as a second use of Mindslaver) and get a 5/5 flyer. Seems good to me.

Rupture Spire: Really high on my list of 5c lands for overall play in formats without a high-impact turn 2 play.

Magister Sphinx: Amazing in EDH. 7 mana 5/5 flyer that has the text "When ~ comes into play, ~ deals 30 damage to target opponent".

Cursed Scroll;  {3} to do 2 colorless damage a turn, how awesome is that.

Spiritmonger: 6/6 for 5 mana with 3 abilities, I love it so much, I try to put it in any deck using  {B} {G}

Hull Breach: like naturalize on crack, it destroys both at the same time.

Avatar of Woe: pretty cool card, nice art, and the number of games it made me win in multiplayer.

Forcefield: 1 damage per creature is pretty good.

Magister Sphinx: the reason for my splash in highlander.

Bribery: Always fun to get your opponents best beast on your side.

Treachery: like above, but free mana!

Palinchron: free mana, doesnt die, looks weird, I miss Urza's block Sad

Yes,Tarmogoyf is probably better than Chameleon Colossus, but comparing it to Tarmogoyf is like comparing your girlfriend to Carmen Electra - one's versatile and reliable, the other's just big and cheap.(And you'd run both if you could get away with)

Although I don't like to draw a line between competitive cards and non-competitive cards,
since I often enjoy playing jank in Vintage and War Mammoth made top 16 at Waterbury,
here's my list of cards that are usually not considered competitive:

Bloodhall Ooze - He gets... SO BIG, SO FAST.

Jotun Owl Keeper - 3/3 for three, who, if not dealt with quickly, will kill your opponent with birds as his last act.

Man-O'-War - I just like him because he's unfair in casual. If I need to beat somebody after losing a bunch of games, I just add in four Man-O'-War. 'So much tempo.

Armadillo Cloak - I haven't cast one in a long time, since I don't own any anymore, but it was so, so satisfying back in the day. Also, combos with my next card...

Rafiq of the Many - I just picked this guy up, so I have yet to cast him. However, he is, in theory, the biggest bad-ass ever printed. Ever.
Four mana for eight damage on his own. Huge. Any other creatures in play? He'll double their power, so it's like he has haste.
Also, the art is SO BAD-ASS. He's standing there, towering over the you with his HUGE sword, decked out in bling,
like he's about to kick you into some Spartan pit, when you look up... And what does he have to back him up?
A HUGE F***ING LION, which he apparently doesn't even need to kick your ass. He just rode it there.
Let me reiterate this. He parked his lion, which he RODE there, and then looked around for you, 'cause he's SO TALL, before kicking your ass.
Bad... Ass... 'No two ways about it.

Oh yeah, forgot about those! Smile Love 'em all! Smile

Although my favorit card ever is quite good in tournaments: Basic Island.

Try that around here...Lol...Anyways, casual "meta-games" differ, and man-o-war is deffinetly decent Smile

Holistic Wisdom - With Fogs and Research/Development.

March of the Machines - so much fun! Wrath of Titania was my first competitive Type 2 deck.

Wild Research - My favorite card during Apocalypse and Odyssey block standard.

Second Sunrise - Always looking out for a good place to put it in a new combo deck.

Ovinomancer - I can't believe this hasn't been named already.

Orcish Spy + Sindbad + Chaos Harlequin !?   C-C-C-COMBO!!

*Not even joking... that was one of the first 'combo' deck's I built.

Thrull Champion was another favorite.  Combine that with bad moon, oh man 4/4 blood pets!? its all over.  Thrull Champion also owned the mirror match.

Ice floe and Amber Prison were great.  Combo that with Norrit or Royal Assassin... and no one wanted to play against you.  Sorceress Queen and pentagram of the ages just made that deck even better.

I've actually used Cursed Scroll in most of my Bomberman side boards, it is amazing against any decks with a lot of small creatures and it actually won me some control mirrors because the the opponent did not counter it and then I would go on to ping them for like 7 turns with it.

Back when Purplehat and I would play at the local card shop, he use to sideboard Forcefield to deal with my Tog deck.

"After these years of arguing I've conceded that Merchant Scroll in particular can be an exception to this rule because it is a card that you NEVER want to see in multiples, under any circumstances. Merchant Scroll can be seen as restricted in a way because should you have 2 in a hand, only one is really useful (that is, only one can get Ancestral)."

Morphling.

I had two Asian Morphlings that RK Post did all sorts of cool things to back in the day.

God, how that card has fallen.

totally forgot about To Arms!

Seems like this is a cantripping Reset in an Elf deck.  I was sort of surprised that no one seemed to try it.  Either that, or they tried it and failed at it, just like me Sad

It also has the distinction of being one of two (legal) cards with an exclamation point in its title, the other one being Kaboom!

I'm a sucker for old and inefficient cards Smile

Some of my faves are: Stone Throwing Devils, Rabid Wombat, Carrion Ants, Mana Flare, Preacher, Invisibility, Rubinia Soulsinger (oh Rubinia! You lovely siren you!), and Autumn Willow - god she seemed amazing when she first came out...

I also miss Icy manipulator, Chaos Orb and even Relic Barrier - was always such a house with Winter Orb.

On a slightly tangental note, I've got to say, I wish more cards from The Dark were competitive - the whole vibe and art of the set is just gorgeous. Dark Blood Moon is probably my favourite card art-wise.. Smile

I really need to get around to building a deck that uses Ring of Ma-Ruf to fetch out a 6/9 Chaos orb. In fact, I can't think of a play more savage than that.

A little love for some of the old flavor favorites-

Petra Sphinx - God damn, this is one of those cards that you forget about until you find an old box of Legends/Chronicles.

Nettling Imp - The art combined with the simple mechanics in a simpler time.

Chimeric Idol - B/w Pox!

Balduvian Hordes -  I once cracked two Hordes in four Alliances packs I bought, back when they were $25/per.  Like cheating!

Ivory Tower - Combined with Necro back in the day.  Haxing.

Dakkon Blackblade - Fat as a hippo.  Partnered with Sol'Kanar for some hurting.

Hypnotic Specter - I always love the real-world flavor text on game cards, coupled with high playability and great color in the Alpha-Beta copies.

I think my favorite is Krark-Clan Ironworks. It's the card that got me back into Magic after a long break, and I managed to actually win a few small tournaments with clunky but fun Standard and Extended versions. Looping Myr Retrievers with a Disciple Of The Vault or a Brain Freeze was good times. I also rocked such hits as Myr Incubator + Goblin Charbelcher, Mindslaver and Genesis Chamber. I even think Door To Nothingness was in there for all of 24 hours.

Best memory ever was being hit with Cranial Extraction in Extended. The guy named Mindslaver, (A singleton he lost to in G1) saw all the different win conditions in the deck plus Fabricate in my hand, and quit.

Etched Oracle-- four mana 4/4 that draws three cards when it dies?  sign me up.  Art is amazing.

Urza's Factory-- Probably my favorite victory condition of all time... I genuinely think that the flavor of this card is great.  I have pumped the assembly worker tokens I've made with Urza's Factory in with my Mishra's Factory in a 150 card highlander format.

Overwhelming Intellect--  Was playing Peasant Highlander and resolved this spell against a Daakon Blackblade, pretty much the least fair thing ever.  "The Brain"

Feral Thalid - The First "big" creature I ever opened.

Rock Hydra - To me, this card is Magic in 1994 -- the flavor of it all.

Abu Ja'far - Being able to block and kill anything just seemed completely unfair.  Especially when you cast a surprise Jump to block a pumped up Shivan Dragon.  Good times.

Breeding Pit + Lord of the Pit - I thought this was the most amazing combo ever. . . before someone showed me Force of Nature + Spirit Link.

Ice Cauldron - Make that fireball bigger!

Mountain Yetti - I have a collection of about 80 -- all chronicles!

Infernal Denizen - I tried so hard to get this to work.  So many bad decks involving Jandor's Saddlebags.  Nowadays, wouldn't you just tap and take control of something in response to the sac trigger?

High Tide + Palinchron + Clone = first infinite combo I ever independently discovered

Oath of Druids + Wormfang Manta + Vanishing = second infinite combo I independently discovered

Cyclopean Tomb + Karma

Wild Mongrel + Riptide Mangler = turn 3 win, actually happened at a Lotus tournament long ago

Anvil of Bogardan + Chains of Mephistopheles = lock, although I'm not sure if this still works

Skirge Familiar + Yawgmoth's Bargain

Upheaval + Psychatog

Plow Under

Rishadan Port

Stormbind

Caller of the Claw

Scragnoth

Kjeldoran Outpost

Hammer of Bogardan

Lake of the Dead

Icy Manipulator

Feral Thalid - The First "big" creature I ever opened.

Ditto.

Urza's Factory-- Probably my favorite victory condition of all time...

Also ditto.  I used to have all four seasons...sigh.  I don't know why I ever got rid of them.

How does Wild Mongrel and Riptide Mangler win on turn 3?

Discard a bunch of cards to Mongrel, have Mangler copy its power, attack with both, hopefully for 18-20 (fetchlands allowing).

Artifact Mutation: I remember doing this on a Darksteel Collossus for the Win back in the day. Now there are cards like Ancient Grudge/Krosan Grip/Seal of Primodorium Sad that you just get more value with those cards than you do with Artifact Mutation. I still would consider running 1 Artifact Mutation just for the possibility of the win.

Soltari Priest: Back when Ankh Sligh was still powerful and WW actually had a chance, this was my most useful creature!

Counterspell: Mana Drain>Counterspell in Vintage Smile.

Donate/Illusions of Granduer: Classic Trix combo replaced by Tendrils!

Skeletal Scrying: Draw X for B? Sure why not! The only problem is that you will only run 1 at the max if any at all Sad. And no one runs it because there are just better cards at 60 card decks.

Coffin Purge: Replaced by Extirpate haha.

SuChi: Those Goblin Welder tricks with SuChi are still fresh in my mind to this day.

Survival of the Fittest: Full English Breakfast?

Avalanche Riders/Icestorm/StoneRain/Sinkhole: I miss Land Destruction. I bet it would still own Combo in many ways.

Urza's Rage: Have you guys ever EOT Urza's Raged for 10 then your turn Urza's Rage for 10 again? I have and it felt grrrreaaat!!!

Skeletal Scrying is still good IMO. It does show up in some decks and resolving one EOT can be gamebreaking.
