Is there going to be a tournament this Sunday (Dec19)? I realize it's pretty close to Christmas.

Same day as the Legacy SCG tournament...seems like a good idea to move the vintage to another weekend?

Bummer, I'm assuming this has to do with CF and SCG being competitors and trying to get a few vintage die-hards to come, but I think most of the eternal players are not going to skip a chance to play in a large event (even though it's legacy). Been a little disheartened with the vintage scene lately, small turnouts, no Eudo events, decline in level of play, regulars not showing, etc. So it's a shame that superstars is not willing to adjust this, as it is unlikely to fire, which doesn't send a good message. I try to make as many of these as possible to support vintage in the bay area, but that being said, I will be playing legacy that day. Hopefully I'm wrong about the turnout...Web, will  you & the CF crew be playing in this?

Same for me.  I will be surprised if the Superstars event gets more than 10 people.  I just hope that an extremely poorly attended tournament won't push things toward Vintage dying out at Superstars too.

As much as I love superstars and vintage, I am hitting up the Legacy Open this weekend.  I had assumed this weekend's vintage tournament would be moved.  I'll be back next month when every one else is in paris.

Hmm, I was planning on heading to the Vintage tourney on Sun but it seems like there won't be enough people... it's been a long time and I was hoping to get my Vintage on! And by that I mean donating my entry fee to the top 4, but still. Well, there's next month I suppose.

I didn't make it to the last SuperStars Vintage event for budget reasons, but I can't pass up the opportunity to play in a large scale eternal event (especially if I have a deck handed to me!) so I too will be slinging slow ass Legacy Cards this Sunday. Smile  Hopefully back to vintage in February for me.

Someone needs to promote it more by bumping.

Next month I start working on Sundays for 6 weeks. Sad

There is NOT a tournament on the third Sunday during April, and instead there is a tournament for a Library of Alexandria on the second Sunday (4/10).

LoA event info.

Sweet, except prize support was cut in half  Confused
I guess with the low turnouts that it was bound to happen

The prize support isn't cut in half except for when the minimum number of people enter. Giving away a LoA allows the store to free up more prizes from first place and distrubute them elsewhere. For example, in a sixteen man tournament a mox will eat up nearly all of the entry costs and make additional prizes beyond it kept to a minimum. In the case of a LoA, first place only eats up roughly eight entries which lets the store distribute an extra two-hundred amongst the t4/t8.

That sounds fine, but I'm wary about how it will actually turn out. Lately we haven't had 16 people, and without the draw of a guaranteed MOX I wouldn't be surprised to see less attendance. We'll see, and I'll try to make next weekend.

Gambit has a great point. The Reno crew is considering coming down for the April tourney, but playing for a LoA makes it a lot less attractive. Admittedly, we don't turn in the tourney results that Web and his crew does, but we still never go to an event thinking, "Hey, prizes are better for the 2nd-8th spots; let's do this!" To drive 5+ hours and get up at 3 a.m. to battle for a mid-range card is a tough sell. Also, bumping the tourney by a week nine days before the rescheduled even is a huge problem. For you single guys, it's just another Sunday. For those of us with families, we have to plan these trips way in advance. I understand that we're infrequent attendees and our input shouldn't carry as much weight as you regulars, but these are some of the issues that contribute to declining numbers for at least one of Superstars' Vintage groups.

I just realized that by bumping the tourney up to Apr 10, that now happens before payday, and not after.

Why the date change, anyway?
