I am proud to announce N.Y.S.E. XI, a Stax Exchange Production paid for by viewers like you;

When:

Saturday, August 21st, 2010
Registration will begin at 11:00 AM
First round will begin promptly at 12:00 PM

What:

$30, 15 proxy non-sanctioned Vintage tournament.  Deck registration sheets will be in use.  1st place prize of an Unlimited Black Lotus is guaranteed.  All other prizes are guaranteed at 50 entrants.

The prize structure will be as follows:

1st: Unlimited Black Lotus
2nd: Llibrary of Alexandria
3rd/4th: Revised Underground Sea
5th/8th: $30 dealer credit
9th:  Mystery Prize, to be autographed by the top 8

As always, prizes will be scaled up with attendance.

A wolf shirt will be given out to a random player who doesn't top 8.

A sportsmanship prize of a Scalding Tarn will be awarded to a player of my choice.

Side Events/Player of the Year Race:

Side Events:

There will be a side event that will start taking sign-ups after the second round of the main flight.  As soon as we have 12 players the event will be held.  If there's enough demand for it, there will be an additional side event held after the final round of the main flight as soon as we have the 12th sign-up.  Entry for the side event is $10 if you played in the main flight.  It will be four rounds of single elimination.

Non sanctioned M11 drafts will be available throughout the day, beginning after the second round of the event.

Player of the Year Race:

Starting on 1/23 there will be a Player of the Year race.  Points will be accumulated based on match wins (3 points) and draws (1 point.)  The event will run from 1/10-12/31/10.  The winner of the race wins free admission to all N.Y.S.E. tournaments for 2011.  Updates will be posted in the tournament reports for the tournaments.

The point structure will be as follows:

1st: 12 points
2nd: 9 points
3rd: 6 points
4th: 6 points
5th:  3 points
6th:  3 points
7th: 3 points
8th: 3 points

May the best player win!

Future Byes

The winner of a N.Y.S.E. event will receive a first round bye at the next Philly Open event and the next N.Y.S.E. Lotus tournament.

The players with byes for this event are:

This tournament has been in the works for a few months now as the local area guys know.  As a disclaimer - I am going to the MA/NY Grudge Match in Hadley the following weekend, and I hope that everyone who show up on the 21st does the same.  The dates for August got tight pretty quickly.  Vintage Champs is the 1st weekend of the month, the second weekend is a 5K in Philadelphia run by Your Move Games, and the last weekend of the month is the Hadley event.  It was the only date open.

Our head judge for the event will be Long Island's own Brian Paskoff, a level 2 judge.

So mark off your calendar and come out to the Island to spend a day playing Vintage with your friends.  This event should be a blast.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Given your choices of dates, can't say I'm surprised that another Lotus tournament I will be forced to not play in. But I will at least to stop in for a bit early on.

Nick, seriously, I have had plans for that Saturday with about 30 friends for three months now. And I am not backing out from a day full of the three p's of partying to play magic.

I'm sorry to see that you're not going to be able to make it Bauer.  Drop by when you can and hang out with us in the meantime.

Two other gents are going to have byes at this event - Keith Seals, for winning Blue Bell Game Day #5, and Same Berse, for winning Blue Bell Game Day #6.

I hope you both make it out!

I'll venture a guess to say it's 30 more than you have.

I second your prediction that the Lotus will be returning home on the Nick Coss bus... however it shall be in my hands! I am scheduled off for this day and thus shall be making my triumphant return to NYSE events!

BTW don't you already have a Lotus Hornung? You greedy bastard!

I don't believe we have met, but me and Jake will literally be splitting the lotus, in half (I will be getting the picture half), because clearly only noobs run lotus as some of you stax players already understand.

We are two weeks away from the biggest N.Y.S.E. of the summer.  Set the date aside, and come show your support for New York Vintage!

I'm going to be on the Island for this (by fortunate coincidence), and am bringing all kinds of vintage shenanigans straight from MO.

...however, I'm also not a native and so have no idea how to get out to Seldon from Speonk. I can't even find what the closest LIRR station is. Help / suggestions?

The best way would be Ronkonkama if you are on that line. On the Northern line, I think Stony Brook is the closest bet.

I would be very happy to see it Steve.  If you need to borrow a deck (a tier one deck) let me know what you're looking to play, and if I have it, it's yours for the day.

I hope to see you there Tiger.
