Heya,

As we get results for Champs and other side events, could someone with a smartphone or laptop post updates and results in this thread?  It would be great to be able to keep up with things for those of us unfortunates not able to attend.

Thanks!

Although I dont have the top 8 results, I think the first tournament of the day, Prelim #1@ 11:00 AM was around 70 players. Prelim #2 was 32 players (at 4pm).

There was a TON of MUD at the event. Also, there was maybe 10% on Ichorid and probably around 15% - 20% on Oath.

I did see a couple of Noble Fish players floating around and a gentlemen running Omnath + Berserk.

I heard that Hiromichi aka World Champ made 1-2-drop, and Stanley aka Cyberpunker won the first tournament.

Oath won the first prelim.  To me the meta looked like 1/3 Ichorid, 1/3 Oath, 1/3 other decks.

Rich and I Split the second prelim.  Top 4 was 2xOath, Ichorid, and Shops.  My quarter finals opponent was on mud, but I didn't catch the rest of top 8.

That's so weak.  It's called Champs for a reason.

Aside from that, thanks for the updates everyone!  Keep 'em coming.  Grats, jbrauer99, good luck in the Champs! Smile

Peace,

Craig Berry almost made top 8 but Owen t end-bossesed him in the mono red mirror. Mark hornung beat Brad Nelson but we both dropped at 2-2. Mono green and mono red were everywhere, also lots of comet storm

+1 to this. What's going on down there now? Any updates on how the various archetypes are performing? Any Rogue decks making noise?

He's 4-0 matches, 8-0 games. Persecutors, Mindcensors, Cabal Therapies, and Bitter Ordeal. He claims he made the deck this morning.

Typical Conley Woods. Sounds like an interesting deck, though I really don't get this recent obsession with Bitter Ordeal.

If waterbury shatters 114 could the gencon event really be called the vintage world champs when it isnt even the biggest eventt in America

I was once asked on MWS, what the highest I ever finished at a TMD Open was.  I replied, "I've never played in a Waterbury.  I was then called "A TOTAL NOOB!"

The SCG P9 tournaments always beat GenCon Indy.  In fact, SCG Indy beat GenCon Indy a few years back even though they were just a month a part.  Here's the thing tho, GenCon has the history and prestige with it.  It's Wizard's only nod to Vintage, and that is what makes it special.

Ray you already hold the north american record for a vintage tournament it was like 215, the TMD open when meandeck played that giant piece of shit combo deck.  Besides, no one really believes that the "vintage champs" at gencon is an actual representation of the best players.  At least, no one in new england does.

It's Ochoa's list.  Something close to final, if not final, is here.

Vintage is a lovely format, it's too bad so few people can play because the supply of power is so small.

Chess really changed when they decided to stop making Queens and Bishops.  I'm just glad I got my copies before the prices went crazy.
