How long until the metagame in the US shifts so that maindeck Mystic Remora is good again?

Thanks for posting this report, G.  do any of the links you provided have the lists with Sideboard?

Congratz to Ruben!

I have to say that this Gush/REmora list is pretty intriguing. There are some choices that are definitely not obvious - Vendilion Clique, Tendrils-No vault-key, 4 Mindbreak, ...

I would like Ruben to tell us more about this build and his choices.

Anyway, congratz to Ruben

Yeah I also like to know more about that deck. Cause normally Gush and Remora is kind of a nonbo at least without Fastbond.

@Paul

Yes, all the decklist have sides. All the lists are sorted in alphabetical order (lands first then spells).

@Tempus

He uses the Remoras to protect himself from the early game along with the Traps to avoid getting first turn killed Smile
It might seem a nonbo, but the Remora is there not as a main draw engine but as a way to gain time to win.

I would like to say he is the top player right now playing this kind of decks in our meta. He has been playing practically the same core for some time now and has proven the deck evolves pretty well along all the 4 months of the LCV where he has reached the finals 3 times and won one of them.

I will talk with him to see if he can explain some of his choices Very Happy

Thanks for all the feedback!

We will publish the rest of the coverage material during this week (I will be updating this thread to let you know about the new things) and also the following one.

Next week the Team travels to Annecy where we expect to perform a big coverage of the best Eternal events in Europe of this year Very Happy

Carlos Fernadiez(?) is someone who has been using Remora tons in the European tourney's and has posted good results with the deck for a long time. Last year he took second at the Bazaar of Moxen, and the other events he goes to I always see him in second place or winning the whole thing. He definatley has a good grasp of that blue deck.

hi, I´m Ruben, and I´ll try to explain my deck as well as I could. First of all sorry for my english but i don´t usually use it so I have it a little rusty.

About the deck, if you see it is very similar to gush storm decks that ya had been played, but the problems of those decks it was a problem to control the game in the firsts turns, so i change the drains to traps, and add remoras, but only to stop the development of the opponent, and with this we could play ours preordain, moxes and the opponent only wait until the remora disappears.

Then in the late game the remoras I used to protect my carts, like gitfs, Jace etc, so the remoras is only a utility no the draw engine.

With this changes improve the confrotation with other blue decks, and combo deck, there is no substantial change against mud and fish, and what if it is true that we have a pairing against ichorid almost impossible in the first game.

and the truth is that there is not much more to comment on the deck but if ye asked me try to answer

Dear Ruben, First of all, nice to see you here on TMD!
I have watched your blue decks evolve over the last few years (which was rather easy, because you went into top8 almost every time) and it has been very interesting for me to watch how it changed.
Do you think this version of the deck is good for the spanish metagame in particular (for starters: not so many shops, loads of gushes) or do you think it is good against a more balanced field with more MUD, creatures (confidants etc.) but still gush and jaces etc. too?

Logged

I will be playing four of these.  I'll worry about the deck later.

this configuration is not the best if you think that the number of mud is high. In the first mach only have the hurklys, so is probably that add at least another specifies cart (like Ancient Grudge, versus fish and creatures in general with the colosus is enough for win. how ever, at least at the following tournaments will go with a deck of its kind, with slight changes, as I've said to fit the metagame

Back from the BoM, Rubén played the deck he has been updating lately (http://manainfinito.com/articulos/pensando-en-annecy) to a 7-0 finish after 7 rounds, so he could ID into top8 the last 2 rounds. There he lost to Dredge in a 2-1 match.

He is preparing the report to be published this very same week.

Stay tuned!
