Why aren't we talking about this card already? It seems like a better Beast Within to me. It's in usually easier to play colors, it deals with Blighsteel, it stops Welder tricks and it will give the opponent a land 40% if the time instead of a 3/3. Against big blue, it seems very decent as your odds of them flipping a non permanent are pretty good. I can see how it's a gambit against Stacks, is you might give them a big guy, but against other decks, this seems as playable. That said, I don't think Beast Within is very playable, but it got people excited, where are those people?

I love this card.
1) Red answer to enchantments! YAY!
2) Instant speed RED answer to tinker.
3) HALF MAN HALF RHINO.
EDIT: Someday, I hope to nail my own land with this fucker and RIIIIIIIIP a 'goyf to haymaker a confidant.

It is pretty good, but Beast Within turns your opponents JTMS into a 3/3 and then triggers your oath without having to find Orchard. So there is at least one deck that wants Beast Within over this.

I agree that most of the hype over Beast Within was because of its potential application in Oath.
This card is a red answer to any permanent at a CMC that doesn't render it irrelevant (like Desert Twister). that's got to fill a niche somewhere. Could be good in one of those Magus of the Moon type decks.

This thing has one fatal downside: people in Vintage play lots of cheap, instant-speed tutors. Can you imagine Chaos Warping your enemy, then they cast Vampiric Tutor in response? Thanks for the Tinker LOL.
On the other hand, it does the same thing for you. 4 Enlightened Tutor + 1 Vampiric Tutor + 4 Choas Warp + 1 Fat Fattie.dec?
What I really dig is that this is like Tinker, in that it can grab combo pieces or fatties, and both pieces of the combo (tutor + warp) are pretty useful on their own. Even with the above "whoops I lose" proviso.

Thanks for the Tinker LOL. There's no opportunity to make the reveal non-random, because the reveal happens during resolution and there's a forced shuffle earlier during resolution.

Vintage is a lovely format, it's too bad so few people can play because the supply of power is so small.
Chess really changed when they decided to stop making Queens and Bishops. I'm just glad I got my copies before the prices went crazy.

Ooooooh nice catch; all part of the same effect. I guess that sort of invalidates everything I was thinking about.

I think the big niche this fills is that this is probably the most applicable red answer to enchantments that has been printed.

It's instant speed land desctruction for three mana. That's the first time that's ever been printed, right?

Beast Within. I was surprised to see that the only other tournament legal instant land removal spell in the game is Rain of Rust.

Fissure is another tournament legal instant land removal spell. And Lavaball Trap, Rith's Charm (nonbasic only), and Wrecking Ball.

I stand corrected, I put "Destroy target land" and Instant for the card type, I didn't consider that the sequence of wording might cause other results not to show up.

I intend on playing this in a tournament, casting it on my own mox or chalice, and flip Emrakul after the shuffle. At least once it should work....right?

You're thinkimg too small Mike. Try running 4 of each of the 3 Eldrazi and Chaos Warp, Sneak Attack and Show and Tell.

Well, AFAIK only one of them matches "RHINOMANTHING". That said, seeing some dude in a rhino-head mask busting flares would be pretty damn cool in my book.
