Submerge also nails Blightsteel in those Fastbond/Gush decks.  Interesting catch Diakonov.  Submerge your blight, nice confidant flip.....

While I agree with this card vs goyfs and fish...I would NOT bring this in vs gush because they play 1-2 tropical islands total in there deck. So, sure it sounds great and all bouncing a BSC with submerge but when they if they tinker how does that mean they will have a trop in play? Or same thing vs a bob if you wanted to use it to bonce. A gush deck will fetch out basics vs landstill unless they plan on playing fastbond and in that case it works. But over all not a good choice to have in vs a gush deck, of course unless the gush deck is a grow build with tarmogoyf, dryad, and/or predator. Then it seems fine!

Have you ever tested Goblin Welder in the deck?

Let's say to give you the option to use black lotus-moxen  after null rod is in play?  And if you would ad welder what other artifacts with activated abilities would you consider running?
I do agree it is very meta dependend and can see it fit more if it would help you disrupt the opponents board.  But still I wanted to hear your thoughts...

Worst it does is beat the opp for 1...

I never really wanted to add goblin welder honestly so I never tested it. If I added a 1 drop creature I would add gorilla shaman to add to the mana denial suite. But that being said I don't really like 1 drop creatures when mental misstep is soooooo widely played. I think shaman and welder are both pretty weak in my opinion.

Anyone else test this guy?

Out of the board he demolishes the mirror.  He's a blue Dark Confidant, drawing you a land for turn, while your draw step draws you gas.  Unlike Confidant, you really only want one out at a time, so you don't need to SB 4 or anything.  1 or 2 in the board creates way too much CA for the mirror to handle!

interesting, but what do you use to make sure you're drawing a land?  Looting away spells seems not too great  =/

He works well with Delver of Secrets, Jace, Brainstorm, and if he doesn't get a land, he usually makes snapcaster Fodder.  Good stuff.

Josh, I tested Delver of Secrets as a three of (minus 1 Jace, 1 Null Rod, 1 REB) and it's really good to put the pressure really fast. What do you think about it?

I agree I don't like the idea of ditching spells for lands. Seems alright if I had alot of top deck manipulation like tops or something. Not good enough IMO cool idea though

Seems fine in a meta game where the # of missteps being played is down. If I chose to play a creature in the deck right now it would be 2-3 snapcaste, while still running 4 rod. I like snapcaster slightly more then delver bc it reuses recall, mystical, counters, burn spells, can play it EOT to follow up with standstill on your turn. Overall I rate snapcaster slightly higher then delver personally but on the same not delver is not a terrible option by no means

isn't merfolk looter just better than sindbad in every way?  i don't really think this deck needs either though.

I've been testing Sindbad for the last 3 days, in over 40+ games, and with Jace and Delver of Secrets, he straight up becomes an LOA.  I think you guys are massively underestimating him.  He singlehandly won me 3-4 games vs MUD in testing, getting me those necessary lands.  I play Snapcasters and Delvers tho, so I get much more use out of Sindbad than I would with a Merfolk looter any day.  Maybe you guys should test before you theorize.  Just saying.

Is there something here I'm not getting? Sindbad is a 1/1 that taps to draw a card if its a land and discards it otherwise.  Merfolk Looter is a 1/1 that taps to draw a card and then you can discard ANY card in your hand.

And adding snapcasters, delvers, and looters, not sure how many copies your running of each, but that sounds like 10+ cards probably making it play like an entirely different deck, considering Josh's landstill runs 0 creatures.  I'm not necessarily saying your list is bad it just sounds totally different.

I will admit mine is quite different.  Merfolk never actually nets you cards tho Sindbad does.  Especially with Jace.  With Jace he simply becomes a LOA.

A lot of cards are better when you have a Jace on board.

part of the issue here is that serracollector is talking about a fundamentally different deck then the one posted in this thread. Yes, its still landstill, but he is running delvers, snapcaster, and sinbad. There is a lot of synergy between those three cards, and together they act totally different then looter.

It's a cool little engine when it gets running, but its hard to evaluate without a full decklist. It reminded me of the original Mono-blue fish lists that PTW used to run. Little blue doods, standstill, manlands, mono freaken' blue, etc.

If I wanted to strengthen my mud matchup concerning my mana base I would run 4 tarn and play mountain. I simply am not going to run sinbad to sometimes be card advantage and other times I'm ditching crucial spells. That's just not how I want to build my deck and not how I want it to run there are soooooo many other cards I would run before running sinbad

...running sinbads, delvers, and snapcasters, it's sounding a lot like UR fish and not landstill. I'm curious to see a list because that's a lot of cards your adding and consiquently diluting the deck

I posted my current list under the Snapstill thread, will be posting more about it and a primer later tonight hopefully

http://www.themanadrain.com/index.php?topic=43281.0

I had been posting under here becuase so many ppl told me I was just ripping osh off and playing his deck, I been trying to tell people its a different beast altogether, but didn't wanna cause friction.  Maybe since Osh said himself its different ppl will be more likely to admit it is.  Thanks!

Also I wouldn't say its diluting your deck, its just something different altogether.  Sorry if I caused offense Osh.  Your deck works totally diff than mine, Im not all about the mana denial.

No offense taken I just tool a glance at your list and only saw 1 sinbad, is it really worth it? Well good luck developing your deck! I just like the mana denial + rods. I play vs a very very good player in Allen Fulmer who plays gush decks and broken cards and without rod landstill can struggle vs the broken decks at times. Thanks for posting the list and giving some two cents in this thread!

yea no I been wanting to try a 2nd sindbad.  I dropped clique from my list for him, and haven't regretted it yet.  I mean you don't run snaps, and thats a big diff there with Sindbad.  Even when I don't have a delver or jace to abuse him, going EOT tap Sindbad, either draw or chuck, don't hurt really as I can snap most things he mills back anyways.  Sometimes its even to my advantage, allowing me to use a Snap that was otherwise useless (no target etc).  Just not sure wat to drop.  Also, I been running 1 Energy Flux maindeck, over the RODS idea, and tbh, its been amazing, especially g1 vs MUD, but also vs the big blue deck that drops 3 moxen turn 1, and I counter their turn 1 spell, then drop flux.  Brutal sometimes.

Don't get me wrong snapcasters are never out of the picture in my book as a card that would fit its way into a landstill list of mine...But there are atleast a dozen cards I would play before I would ever consider running sinbad. But whatever floats your boat if you like it, then you like it!

Next vintage event I'm going to give this list a go (with a modification cause there's no proxies where I play (Belgium) and I don't have a Black Lotus)

Thx for the update!!

To be honest it won't be a problem. 2 weeks ago I didnt play sapphire and i went 4-1-1 beating all of my opponents 2-0. I missed top 8 though getting 9th. Good luck!

Josh, what do you think of Grafdigger's Cage in Landstill? It is maindeck material or SB only? In the second case, Grafdigger's Cage will open 3 slots. Can you see that Trinket Mage deserves a slot, since it searchs EE and Grafdigger's Cage?
